SEN are currently broadcasting the Grannie. It's worth a listen.

Steele has already kicked 6 or 7 for the Bushies and is playing an "outstanding game." He kicked one on his wrong side from around 50 apparently.

The special comments bloke who's name I haven't heard yet is talking of him rocketing up the list into serious contention for a top 3 pick.

This draft is getting more muddied with such a good group of first rounders.

If I remember correctly, Bate, Jones and Brock are all BOGs in the TAC grand finals in their years. Just out of interest.

Apologies if I'm mistaken.

10 goals now.

30 something touches (lost count), 10 goals, bunch of marks, some contested. Has Bartel like marking overhead for his size.

Amazing performance. You'd think he is top 5 material now possibly?

He's been my man from the start. Just ask Hards. I was on him 6 months ago (mainly for his name :P) lol

Going to be a very good AFL player. Just got that build and hunger about him.

33 Disposals

14 marks (4 contested)

10.3 goals

11 inside 50s

In a Grand Final too. Absolutely dominate performance. Long live teh Sidebottom!!!

Only way we'll get our hands on him is if we trade and get a pick in the top 5-6 now :(

Not one performance by any stretch.

Steele's had a standout season for the Bushrangers, one in which he's improved in leaps and bounds.

BOG in the TAC Grannie (by a fair margin) can't be dismissed so easily.

The set-in-stone trinity of Watts, NickNats and Rich is looking a bit shaky.

The only one of those who has displayed the passion and attitude for the game like Steele is Rich.

Are you serious? Rich is one of the laziest players at U18 level. He looks like TJ MkII

You're kidding right?

Have you been a regular at Subiaco's games over the past two years?

we can still pick him up, at pick 1..he has shown more than watts

Agreed 100%.

I wish everyone would shut up about Watts, he is seriously overrated.

I am starting to warm to Sidebottom as our number 1 pick.

TAC cup grand final is bad quality.... 3/4 of the guys playing out there today won't even be drafted.

Compare that to the U18 carnival where Watts got best player in comp out of the best young talent in the country.

Also, look who was BOG on the TAC cup grand final last year: Ashley Arrowsmith.

Thats right, who?

Sure he played well, but he had kicked 11 goals before tonight so not exactly a massive goal kicker, bottom age player who looked good but not sure if he will dominate at AFL level.

Was rated outside top 10 by sheehan before the game.

It definitely wasn't a one one performance in the grand final because Siddebottom has had a stand out finals series. Even last week I was looking at the usual places (ok, I confess mainly big footy) to see where he was being rated and it was already in the top dozen and I think he was always going to go before our second pick at # 17. He hasn't done any harm to his stocks but probably won't break into the top three.

Anyone have any idea where he was roughly projected to go, prior to tonight? Just wondering- if he was expected to go later than pick 17 then that obviously leaves us with more options than we thought. Does this effect us, or not really?

On my list i had him inside my top 10 already, with a group of about 5 after the top 3 (in order of talent i'd put him 6). There are a few BF poster (only a few) who actually know what they're talking about regarding draftees and pretty much all of them already had Sidebottom as a first round pick at the latest, most had him top 10. There's a Phantom draft organised by one of the more respected blokes, you can only get in it by invite, and their trial had sidebottom go at pick 8.

No one who knows what they're on about are going to cream their pants over one game and put him at pick 1, but he might go up 2 or 3 spots in the first round. So he's not come out of no where, but his whole TAC finals series, especially that last game, may have him top 5.

Played a great game Sidebottom did, have a bad feeling he might end up going to Collingwood around pick 11 however. Would be great if he slid through to 17 but doubt it. Hopefully if not him Blease might possibly?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
