Your kidding right..a guy who averages around 20 possy's in the comps elite team, elite midfield..given the role with mclean in our side- and we'll be set.

Deestroyers- what else did he say? how do you think the club are trying to get him, if we're offering 3, and geelong only 2

i reckon we should schnag him, injury decreases his value *even though it doesnt really*

go melbourne and go prismall

Agree with that first part, he's a gun, was playing ahead of Kelly & Wojac when he got injured, he has great disposal, is tough, does need to gain some pace and lateral movement though, the knee wont help there, but if drafted in PSD or traded for a lpick outside the top 20, id say good stuff..

A trade for a player would be hard 2 imagine!

Spoke to Brent Prismall last night at the Geebung, and yes, straight from his mouth came the words that he is going to be a Demon in 09 and beyond.

Said the Cats offered him 2 years, and we have offered him 3. He wants opportunity, which he cannot see himself getting at the Cats.

So he wants to be a Demon, it just has to happen.

Call me whatever you like, it came straight from him.

Also in attendance last night at the Geebung were many Saints boys, and a one Michael Voss.

Waas he wearing a support bracket around his knee? or was he walking fine?

Provided it's not on an inflated salary or anything destablising like that, I'd love to see Prismall in Red & Blue.

Like others have said, a big NO to trading an early pick. In fact, 35 might be pushing it. Maybe pick 51 if we're lucky? Or some kind of complex shuffling of 51,35 and a pick of theirs.

Remember that the Cats will be perpetually under salary cap pressure, and don't have Visy to pick up the slack. If Prismall is out of contract too, then our PSD pick comes in to play. And let's face it, he really hasn't had the opportunities he perhaps deserves.

He got 32 disposals and three goals against Melbourne on that awful friday night. But then again, who didn't?

And a good age, too. The upside of him being out next year is that we'll still be very much playing youngsters in 09, and by the end of that year we'll probably have seen the retirements of a few more veterans, (Carroll. Robertson? Bruce? Whelan? McDonald?) as well as saying goodbye to any of the current crop of 'relatively young' players who don't step up next year, so he won't be clogging up any development plans for the really young lot.

Let's face it, he's a sound pick up on merit and by 'the plan' - if we got a draft pick of his quality at 35 we'd be well pleased.

I gotta say that a midfield of McLean, Morton, Moloney, Prismall, Davey, McDonald, Green and Jones looks pretty good on paper.

Barring injury they would be a very good midfield with a good future. And that doesnt even count Grimes, Maric and Buckley.

The worry I have with Prismall is that he done his knee so easily. If he done it by some freak accident I would be more confident that he won't do his knee again but to do it like he did I fear that he has a serious problem with his knee and could easily do it again. On that alone I would rather go for Thompson but if we did get him I wouldn't be complaining he's a pretty good player.

I have made a few calls, and it seems an offer has been made last week..

From all reports we are the only other club he is considering..

Alot of work to be done though, especially on trade talks and etc.. must wait until next week for cats..

SHame about the injury though..

Thankyou

Never doubt Deestroyers - he only speaks the truth

I have been waiting and hoping for this news. I live in Geelong and know some who know him and have heard some rumblings, not about the dees only that he was interested in changing clubs. Whilst Brent Prismall had not quite cemented his place at the best club in the league he was fairly close.

I think he would be a very nice acquisition. He can win clearances, hit a target and finds the footy, and was beginning to find the goals. He isnt quick and I am wary that our midfield needs an injection of pace but he is further along in his development than our current midfield, and as mentioned can hit a target.

It is a calculated gamble on a player with this injury. One that for the right price is worth taking.

Who in our midfield would get a game with Geelong atm. Brock ??

did you see how brent prismall did his knee mate?

in the wet, sliding whilst he had the ball, lost his footing- any player can do that in the wet- and unfortunately twisted awkwardly

it wasn't the fact that he has 'a serious problem with his knee'

Interesting. I do not think the dees will trade for him, and 3 years seems interesting when you consider he has done his ACL, and they will not give a 100% fit B&F Brad green 3 years.

Does not quite make sense. Offer Prismall 3 years, when he could be a bust. Offer greeny 2 years when he is by far our best player.

Would rather give greeny more years and pass on Prismall.

Point of difference being that Prismall will be less expensive and far more likely to play in our next tilt. We need to target the best young players available. Prismall would be one of those. If medical reports, interviews, negotiaions look ok. Makes perfect sense.

I too hope we don't need to trade for him. I think we need to try and keep Green too.

Issue is Green will likely be our top salary earner, Prismall will be averagish. Then throw in the relative ages, thats the reason for the different lengths. I mean, we gave Meesen a three year deal (as I recall it) and didn't really expect that much - calculated small biscuits risk.

Mind you, I personally think there isn't much risk in giving Green a three year deal. He's shown that even if his tank begins to shrink a bit he'll still be a handy forward/half forward, as he started his career. And there's no denying his consistency, even for those who don't really rate him that highly. Deep down I think he can go on and on for years yet.

I am with you on this - he did his knee in a run of the mill twist/turn/slide. Richo, for example, crashed into a fence. Time: no problem. Look at Ox; did his knee just turning: 4 reco's.

Leave it to the doc's.

And 3 year contract is OK "with the right conditions" as I am sure it is with Green.

Let me ask this!

Would you trade for Alwyn Davey if he wanted to come to Melbourne FC? If you say yes, well you should say yes to Prismall aswell. Both have done ACLs this year, however Prismall is at least 2 years younger also.

I say snap him up if he wants to be a Demon. 1,17,19 untouchable though! Bartram could be a possibility for trade. Cant really see him fitting into the Cats team though. But I think he hails from down that way called Torquay.

Something about Garry Hocking's No.32. Moloney wore 32 at the Cat's. So does Prismall!

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
