AKA old55 and Spunjy

I remember you started as old on here with the bunny in the snow profile pic. Spunjy makes sense for Bob given the current profile pic.

I took the same username on Land and probably stopped posting on ology about 3 years ago, maybe more. A pity, there was some fun banter - including the non-footy stuff.

Does anyone remember the thread started by Robbie F  called "Are we in , or about into enter a recession?". It was started soon after the election of Rudd in 2007 or early 2008 but before everyone knew of the impending Global Financial Crisis. It was so passionate that 'ology had to split the boards between footy and non-footy after that.

That reminds me - markc was another passionate Melbourne man that frequented both sites. I hope I’ve got my wires crossed here but did I read recently that he had passed away?

That was me Nasher. There’s a nice thread on here mid January where I broke the news and Mark got a lot of love that he thoroughly deserved.

Im gutted he’s not here to see us playing the way we have been. He loved our club.

Another ex-ology here! I left when it fell in a hole. I had already joined land but posted rarely.

Sheesh that was a while ago.

Yep me too. I still remember when @TGR
used to refer to Demonland as "strawberry fields" ?

I often wondered if Dr Who ended up here in some guise. Maybe multiple ones. Would get sniffed out pretty quick though I would suspect with their views.

He definitely has been on here - he's also on Big Footy and is a GWS supporter can't remember his username though.

Edit - you'll know his posts when you see them, he's the one who always blamed the supporters for the club's failure over the last 50+ years

How's this for a bump?!?

I came from demonology originally, can remember thinking this joint was wack and the 7 active posters on demonology were way smarter than you bunch of lunatics. From memory it was around the time Ricky Petterd was running around, always liked that guy.

Anyone else from/remember demonology?

Sure was Josh! Circa 2001 or 2002 was when I joined. So many great memories and the server going into Meltdown the day Woewodin was traded.

Joined DL shortly after that on the old site. Really is a credit to the guys here for not only keeping it running this long but turning into the machine it is today with the podcast etc

Yeah I remember being shocked by news on TSJ. He posted not long before he passed and correct me if I’m wrong but I think he said he was doing some stand up comedy at the time!?

i was at work doing night shift and I dropped a few tears that night

He was a young man :(

Surprised no one has me mentioned the great Yze_Magic..

I couldn't remember if he was on ology or land, such is my memory.  He was a riot and cringworthy at the same time. Loved the stuff about him going to be drafted, as well as outlandish statements and commentary on his fights on Big Footy.

He was.a regular on bigfooty. The while being drafted thing was the funniest stitch up! A lot fell for it too.

Knackers (later Philthy Knackers) was a funny and knowledgeable poster.

This thread made me think of Knackers. A long time ago I was up very late at night (wife was in labour) and he posted that he had two copies of a book and the first confirmed MFC member could have a copy. Sure enough I was the first and sure enough he sent the book. He was @ol' Grimey Knackers by that stage...doesn't look like he's been active for a while though.

I think stakka from 'ology became @Curry & Beer here...hasn't logged in for a while either though.

Met GS at the Ormeau tavern where Qld Dees supporters gathered. Really enjoyed his posts pity he has retired his posting as had a deep knowledge of the club and game

I’d forgotten about two sheds jackson - that was a gut wrenching moment too. These forums do certainly offer a bunch of strangers a sense of connectedness.

I was originally an ologist sometime around early to mid 2000's. Went on here around the same time. My memory was different to others. I remember it being more civil over there and this place had a reputation for too much  juvenile infighting. But I came over at the time of that split around 2008. Thankfully mods have done a great job cleaning things up on here and a few people who needed to be have been moved on. Quality just keeps getting better. Mind you we all have a bit more positive things to say for the first time since '64. Nowadays look here before I look at any of the press. Way better informed and intelligent researched content than any of the fourth estate rags nowadays.

Yes it was a serious message that hit hard.
i had grown up with all the Python Records, so i knew who “Arthur” 2 sheds jackson was, so i knew this guy had a good sense of humour.
I should search it out again.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
