Let's face it....it really has been the season from Hell for us as Melbourne supporters.

We have had to cop a lot of rubbish and pathetic performances this year! I for one am relieved yet also disappointed that the season is now over.

Only two years ago in 2006 we were playing in finals and West Coast won the flag! Now in 2008 we are stone motherless last and West Coast are second last!

Do any of you guys remember 1997? That was an absolutely TERRIBLE year as well! But at least we won 4 games that year! This year we could only manage 3 wins! What a disgrace! In many ways this year is nearly as bad as 1981 when we had ONLY 1 win for the whole entire season! :o

I really hate to say it but we well and truly "earned" the wooden spoon this year! :(

s_wooden-spoon.jpg

I hope the MFC players are ashamed of themselves!

Now lets just forget about it all and look forward to the AFL National Draft where we get the number #1 pick and we can look forward to next year! :)

At least things are doing better "off-field" with the Debt Demolition and Cameron Schwab's appointment as the new CEO of the MFC.

Anyways, I'm glad the pain of this year's season is now finally over!

We have to deal with watching the 8 AFL teams that are left in the 2008 finals series with envy and wish it was us....oh well. :(

Give me a week or so and I'll be in a much better mood.............hopefully.

you'll be much happier when we get No 1 draft pick and pre-season draft pick

why would you want to finish ninth??

momentum for next year?

sell more memberships?

keep up tradition?

tease your supporters?

nope, finishing last we get draft picks, along with those of last eyar that should see our club be in the premiership window immediately after the cats and hawks....

And the happiest club [bar Geelong] award goes to....Essendon! :o

Whose membership officers are manning the phones awaiting calls from St.Kilda fans who will be buying 09 bomber memberships by way of a thank you!

Thank Jeebus it's over. Awful end to the season as well.

I really hope Bailey kills them in the gym and the track over summer, they deserve it.

Positives out of the year would be the 180 degree turnarounds from Garland, Warnock, Miller, Buckley, Johnson (both) and to lesser extent Sylvia, Dunn, and Jamar.

Two of the three wins were particulary special with the Freo game in the top 10 moments watching the Dees at the G for me.

Developing players to hope for next year continuing their good start to their careers would be Morton, Grimes, Maric, Martin, Wonaeamirri, and Valenti.

Alternatively, form reversals needed for Jones, Batram, Bate, Frawley, Bell, Meesen, and Newton.

And an absence of injury required for McLean, Petterd, Moloney, Robertson, Rivers, and Davey.

No reason to despair for next year and the future, but after last week you are forgiven for being a little, only a little, despondent.

Any time we play Richmond, we need to put a bridesmaid dress on a big pole with a Richmond jumper on it.

 That was a disgrace by the Bombers. To have kicked just 5 goals at the Telstra Dome and 1 point in the last quarter, well....There should be an inquiry! Maybe A.Anderson can DO something......!

With the number 9 on it. ;)

Essendon screwing over Collingwood. Must have been an accident... haha a whole other different form of tanking.

From memory there was a Spurs Man U game some years ago where if Man u won they would deny Arsenal the championship, Man U scored and Spurs fans cheered

I Follow the Gunners & I certainlly Hate Man U. The Collingwood of the EPL.

The Day Alex Ferguson threw a Boot at Beckham after losing to Arsenal made me feel all warm inside. Death is too good for Manchester United!!!!!

Incredible that Ninthmond supporters were running around the cheer squad with wooden spoons... how short their memories are!

Ha! You must sit near me - I saw them too. I guess they were just happy it wasn't them this year. Especially since they finished on the bottom and didn't even get first pick - at least we get that.

Wouldn't Richmond supporters be over the Moon if the AFL decided to increase the final 8 to a final 10!! They'd probably get a finals berth finishing 9th again!

no, they would then start to finish 11th each year.
