As to information about McNamee's sacking, do you really believe that McNamee hasn't been spilling his guts out to those on the old board who appointed him?

I stand by everything I said in my first post.

The information that Sheahan had would not have come from the old Board. Stand where you like.

If you want to convince anybody about this, you'll have to try harder than that!

I am not seeking to convince anyone. There are others here touting "statements of fact" that exist on no more than political slanging than hard evidence. Stynes has said that he wants to bring everone back to the Club to save it. Its a worthy and appropriate objective. Its a pity some of the new Board's vocal supporters find that hard to do.

Mike Sheahan seemed to have some inside information about the meetings of the new board regarding McNamee. I dont see how that could have come from the Old Board.

Go figure.

I'll have to agree with Rhino on this one. If the information that RFlowering is getting is coming from the old board, how are they privy to knowledge of Stynes pestering Fox with continuous phone calls and Cook having to have a quiet word in Jimmy's ear? This could've only have happened a week or so ago.

With the several comments RF made, if it's from one source, it's someone who was there prior to McNamee being appointed and is still currently there now. So not an old board member and unlilkely a board member at all seeing as only a few survived

Not speaking about this but more so the comments going to media outlets, There's a leak in Jimmy's ship, plug it soon or the boat might just sink

That's always a possibility. But what's the chance of him having inside information from 2 AFL club presidents, let alone one? Even more far fetched seeing that the second's not even in Melbourne. Brian Cook is a professional and was only looking after one of his staff, i couldn't seem him letting the world know that he felt the needed to step in.

At the same time i struggle to see how anyone but Jimmy at MFC would know about this. I don't think Jimmy would advertise to anyone that he was desperately berating Fox with calls.

So how does someone know? Is a board member going to come into Jimmy office "Hey Jimmy, how are we progressing with Fox?"

Jimmy's going to say "Hold on i'm trying to call him now. Damn, he didn't answer again. That's the 6th time i've called him today, but he won't answer..."

"[censored] Jimmy, steady on it's only 11am." Phone Rings

"Hope that's Stuart calling me back." Answer's phone. "Cooky! What can i do for you? Sorry? Yes, i might have called a few times, but... Yes Brian, no Brian, yes Brian. Ok, thanks for the call."

"What did he want?"

"Told me to back off and Fox will get back to me when he's good and ready. But I only called a few of times."

"Well...."

"Do you think he'll still want the job?"

"Ahh, Sure Jimmy, sure he will."

WALDRON DENIES DEMON CONNECTION

Friday, August 22nd, 2008 at 10:38 am

BY ANDREW MAHONY

MELBOURNE Storm CEO Brian Waldron has today denied any links to the Melbourne Demons, most notably to fill the vacant CEO position.

Speaking today on Hungry For Sport on SEN, Waldron said he was happy to remain at the NRL Premiers.

Another candidate who was in the running for the job at the Demons was Geelong Chief Operating Officer, Stuart Fox, who according to Neal Balme was very keen to take the job prior to Paul McNamee’s appointment.

“It’s a difficult situation for Foxy particularly, he was interested when they appointed someone else a while ago. When they’ve approached him again he’s decided he doesn’t want to do it,” Balme said.

“At Geelong we’re very keen to keep him obviously, he does a terrific job.”

a clause in it that allowed him to leave if a CEO position came up at another club.

Yes, that has been discussed previously.

You mean, go figure how rflowerwing's post yesterday at 4:12pm about the process of selection of McNamee as CEO by the old board this information was leaked by the new board before it even became the board?

And when an opponent of the current board unfairly criticise the new board in a fit of pique, the person who points out the stupidity of their argument is accused of somehow acting contrary to the Stynes objective of bringing everyone back to the club?

Go figure how you do that when there are people trying to stab Jimmy in the back at every move.

We need to support the club constructively but I'm not seeing anything around here that suggests that this is happening from the anti-Stynes chorus and Demon Head's right - there's no concrete proof of anything that justifies the nasty and spiteful attacks on Jimmy and his board which have, in the past month, shown that they are prepared to have a dip at solving the club's problems.

You made an assumption in response to your quotation of Golgothan's e-mail that the information he referred was clearly leaked by the old Board when issues like the Fox calls could not be position of the old Board.

I have also asked who leaked to Mike Sheahan about CEO sacking. He seemed to have a very good knowledge of what is happening in the current administration.

I am not anti Stynes and I am not pro the old Board. And I dont buy the "them and us" crap that has been pedalled. I actually think that removing McNamee was the right course. I was just disappointed that it was done (like it had been done before with Harris) through the media via a leak and we were forced to play catch up which is still hurting us now.

this article suggests he has pulled out. however his old contract had a clause in it that allowed him to leave if a CEO position came up at another club.

he obviously wants an easy CEO job with a club that is already doing well financially, doesn't want a challenge, doesn't want to wreck his CV, stay in Geelong in the safe environment standing behind Cook and Costa

I think the MFC job comes with a some large challenges and some large risks that any prospective candidate should be reasonably evaluating before determining their next career move.

...and he's well within his right to do that. The Melbourne CEO job is something that someone can't take on lightly, it is quite possibly the hardest sports administration job in the country.

The Fox deal is 75% done.

No need for this comment, you'll see.

Im suprised you havent called for Whelan to be named CEO.

 Couldn't help myself

Maybe i should claim Wheels for CEO, could be 45% through

Or more likely:

"Pete" in talking to Stuart Fox in his office.

Ring Ring. "GFC. Fox speaking"

...........

"No sorry, Jim. I've told you before - I'm staying here at the Cats. I do appreciate your interest, but please don't call me about it again as I will not be changing my mind."

..........

No, Jim, I really have decided to stay here. Thanks again.

Pete - Was that Jim Stynes again?

SF - You wouldn't believe how many times he's rung me - iot'd have to be 5 or 6 times. I've told him the same thing , but he just keeps ringing. I think I'll ask Cooky get Frank to have a word with him and see if he can stop him ringing me.

And then Pete tells a few others and it goes from there.

And I guess we are assuming that the original statement is completely accurate?

No, I wouldn't necessarily assume that - I'm just outlining a way that the information could have got out without having been "leaked" by anyone from MFC.

Fair enough.......

But I'm just sceptical of these kinds of "in the know" comments <_< .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
