G'day Everyone.

An Important game for the Zebras is this weekend.

Currently in 7th place, they play the 9th placed Northern Bullants.

Both sides are on 7 wins for the year, but the Bullants have a weak percentage. A loss for the Zebras could see Sandy drop out of the 8.

This game will be played at MC Labour Park - start time is 2.00pm, Sunday 3 August 2008.

Radio Coverage is on 3XX 1611 AM from 1pm and is also streamed live at www.radio1611.com.au

Have a good Sunday at the Footy

Peter (from 1611 AM)

I agree with you Peter. This game is a "must win". The winner will retain a place in the VFL top eight and the loser is likely to drop out. Good luck to Peter Summers and David Gallagher on their 100th games!

plenty of carlton players named for the Bullants, not so many dees lining up for the Zebras... will be a big ask for the Zebras...

it would also appear Carlton has all but taken over the Bullants from the look of that side... Lappin and Teague former blues named in the squad...

is Gianfagna of the Andre variety?

BUGGER

And still no Grimes

Monaghan said that Grimes will have another couple of games at Sandy 2s before he's considered for promotion, regardless of form.

^^^^^

Damn no chance of seeing him make his debut this year....

That's ok though. I only wanted to see him if he was going to get a run of games much like Maric now. There is little point in putting him in for one game. From appreances it looks as though they are going about this the right way. Playing him at Sandy 1st's for maybe 2 or 3 games then building up for a big pre-season. Would not be surprised if he debuted in Round 1 next year if he has a fantastic pre-season and NAB Cup.

The Sandy reserves are also involved in a do or die struggle and simply can't afford to drop this game if they want to play off in the finals series. The squad for Sunday's game is:

Calder, Anthony

Cheney, Kyle

Cleeve, Stuart

Curcio, Michael

Fleming, Andrew

Gilchrist, Rennie

Gilder, Brad

Gravina, Stephen

Gribbin, Daniel

Grimes, Jack

Hardiman, Maddison

Hine, Matthew

Johnson, Will

Liddell, Brett

Lockwood, Scott

McConnell, Andrew

McNamara, Tom

Monaghan, Sam

Shakaib, Hiwad

Spencer, Jake

Waller, Chris

Weetra, Isaac

Zomer, Trent

The composition of the Bullants team which includes 18 Blues players, clearly demonstrates one of the main reasons why Carlton is travelling so well at the moment. They have 40 out of 44 senior and rookie list players available and, of the players missing, only two would be considered selection chances for the AFL side - Richard Hadley and Setanta O’hAilpin - and they would be on the fringes of selection at best. And that's been more or less the situation with Carlton all year. If you gave them an injury plagued season or two like those experienced by Melbourne recently, they'd be back on the tankwagon very quickly.

Same could be said for Richmond.

Polak and mabye one other regular is missing from their best 22.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
