Changes v North Melbourne

Not sure if he travelled to Perth, however Bailey has also named unfit Emergencies this year, see Petterd round 2, and Holland the week after he played (not sure why he does it). None of your arguments are strong about Junior being a thing of the past, admittedly his best football may be behind him, but he still has a lot to offer. You'd wonder why he was nominated as co-captain if was a thing of the past.

He did. You dont take an unfit emergency half way across Australia where you have no back up if one of your 22 is not fit to front for the game. Petterd and Holland were easily covered by others.

Conversely none of your arguments are strong why Junior should necessary continue. David Neitz was Captain for the start of the year and was past it ...sadly. Yze, Robbo were voted leaders by the players at the start of the year. You'd wonder why! Neither are a leader's bootlace.

As much I love Junior, he has struggled this year and I dont think he is the type to milk the Club for a final pension contract.

He needs to retire alongside a long list of others

I think they took him, because they waited to see on another player if they would come up. I still have the feeling that there is one or two players struggling to come up week to week. I did post last week that Jones from what I've heard has been sore of late. Bruce also. I think that's why they took him.

Fair enough.

Begs the question why the coaching staff did not think Junior best 22 in the first place?

True. Otherwise it could of been just a back up in case there was a mis-hap at training the day before the match. (They left on Friday)

Grimesy.....

I am a fan of Carroll, actually do rate him even though he is not stellar and is undisciplined.

But are you honestly trying to make an argument for him to be 3rd tall with Garland, Warnock and Martin already down back? None of them deserve to be dropped, Carroll can not play on the 4th tallest oppossotion forward and just cause he has gone to half forward in the VFL does not mean he can play any driving game in the AFL, sorry but the talent difference is HUGE between leagues.

Carroll is the wrong side of 25.

We have Garland, best 22, Warnock, best 22, Martin fast proving to be best 22.

Rivers and Frawley are going to find it hard so how in the blue hell will a 27 year old, undisciplined, not entirely skilled KPB get a spot?

Granted if Marting, Warnock or Garland have 3 shockers in a row he might get a go, but even then, Frawls will prob get the nod because of his age.

Pains me to say because I do love chopper, he is a legend, but does not fit in this young side.

Out: someone

In: Petterd

Not sure who to drop, but I'd like to see Petterd make a return finally.

Obviously if Green is fit he is an automatic inclusion.

Green will miss. Not worth risking.

I'd be dropping Warnock before Martin. I think Martin is a better long term prospect considering how little he has played football, and how much he has improved already.

I would personally like to see Garland tried forward because we are struggling for targets down there, and Frawley can come back in and cover for him in defence, as he has shown some decent form at Sandy. I'd be more than happy to Sylvia to make way for Garland in the foward line.

Wouldn't be dropping Warnock just yet, but I'd love to see play Garland up forward.

OUT: Whelan(love him but he's probably not part of our future)

IN: Frawley(hopefully big part of our future)

Play Garland HF who leads up (So I agree with you there 100%)

Miller at true CHF

Newton at FF

INT: PJohnson

Bate, Wona crumbing, Sylvia as 4th marking option

Can't imagine dropping Martin, I think he's looked the goods

It doesn't bother me who gets dropped in the end it could be Newton. I think Martin is long term so it won't bother him if he gets dropped but if Warnock gets dropped he'll be back at the crossroads I would persist with him for the rest of the year.

ok so you are suggesting we drop a small defender who kept a dangerous small forward to 0 goals, and 10 possessions? and just to show that he wasnt 'working up the ground' and causing problems on the half forward line he had only 1 inside 50 and one goal assist. this on a day where his team had 34 scoring shots (16 more than our 18, thats almost DOUBLE) and 66 inside 50's (26 more than our 40).

who won that battle? the defender.

why does everyone require every defender to be a massive stat getter, getting loads of ball and drive. we got smashed. smashed all over the ground, and it spent most of the time in their forward 50. but bell kept his opponent to zilch. if i was farmer i would be spewig, because i got beaten on a day i couldve had a day out.

not sure why everyone is saying bell played on farmer. whelan had him for most of the game, and garland stood him too. farmer did not get a touch until he moved into the middle late in the game. farmer is a has been and if you measure success on keeping farmer quiet well the standards are a bit low.

bell was ok and left his man - tarrant at times to get to the contest. martin was a loose man in defence for parts of the game, warnock had mcpharlin and pavlich when he rested forward. all the backs rotated, martin either had the resting ruckman or was zoning off. garland had either tarrant or farmer.

to wrap up, bell was not playing on farmer. it was garland and whelan depending on match ups.

Whelan is considered a required player.

Why some people are suggesting Martin and Warnock to be dropped, I'm not sure why. They should be given more game time and chances to prove themselves before the season finishes as Bailey pulls there strings to get more improvement.

With someone like Carroll - you know what your going to get. Ie. Bailey has seen him from an oppositions point of view, and first hand with the 1st half of this year. He is contracted for 2009.

As has already been stated. If Jmac is ready to go, he can come in for someone who Bailey feels needs more work on at Sandy. Until selection we won't know exactly who that is.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
