2009 Fixture Requests

An interesting post from THE EQUALIZER here saying that the AFL have requested that clubs detail their wishes for the 11 home games. Somewhat cat and mouse given you have to predict the thoughts of the 15 other clubs, but history shines some light about. Thoughts? I'll post an attempt after dinner :)

1 or 2 sunday games in Melbourne not all sundays!

More than one night game, and less Sunday games. That's all i really want from them as long as they put all home games at the G (apart from the sold one/s obviously).

Please... give us a break from ALL Sunday games, especially 1.10 games and twilight games....and home interstate games on a Sunday. ..........THANKYOU AFL !!!!

I hate nothing more than when we play late on a Sunday. No more twilight games, no Sunday games at Subi.

I have a young cousin from a Collingwood family who I've converted, and his even younger brother is susceptible to persuasion. Unfortunately, I can't take them along to Sunday games because the older brother plays footy. His dad and eldest brother are whispering in his ear to go back to the Pies and I fear with another draw like this years we'll lose them.

Don't tell Demetriou this. There's nothing he'd like more than for us to dissapear.

1) QB vs Collingwood (preferably our home match)

2) At least 4 matches at night-time, of which at least 2 are Friday night

3) No more than 2 twilight games (one of which is likely to be in Perth)

4) Home matches at MCG (i.e. not Dome) except for 2 matches in Canberra

- QB v Collingwood

- Two home games in Canberra

- All other home games at the 'G

- Spread of days/times

Dear Sir Alex Demetriou (and his muppet Adrian Anderson),

My wish list (I have put a bit of thought into this): -

We at MFC would like: -

1 x QB Home Game at G on Monday v Collingwood

3 x Friday Night Home games (not 1); including one on Good Friday(Night) - controversial I know......

3 x Home Games at the G on a Saturday (2.10pm bounce);

2 x Canberra Home games (agree Rogue)

2 x Home games at the G on a Sunday (2.10pm bounce)

And Interstate fixtures against Sydney at ANZ Stadium; Hawthorn in Launceston; 2 trips to Subiaco; 1 trip to AAMI.

Total = 5 Interstate trips

And away games against: - Bulldogs, Kangaroos, Carlton, Richmond, St.Kilda and Geelong. With the Bulldogs and Carlton games being ticketed for members courtesy of the 2 games in Canberra.

Regards,

High Tower.

First off, you do know it's Andrew, not Alex?

I personally wouldn't want a match on Good Friday (day or night), but that's just me.

Those 2 trips to Subiaco are likely to be Sunday Twilight. MFC would never play at ANZ Stadium (and judging by the surface, I doubt the MFC would want to), but other than that, it sounds alright to me. Probably not enough matches at the G (only 11).

What others have said about Melbourne's draw, plus C'wood to have at least their share of interstate games.

Apologies re: Alex, where did I get Alex from? I meant Andrew. ;)

Probably got Alex from Jesaulenko during a brain fade lapse.....

Regarding the matches at the G, away games at the G to Richmond, Kangaroos and Carlton, bring the tally to 12. 2 games at the Dome in Bulldogs and St.Kilda, and 1 at Skilled.

I like that draw plan HT :)

Sometimes to get your the Home games you want ie Friday night games/blockbusters, you have to give a little to the AFL, so lets put our hands up for next year and give to the AFL 5 interstate trips in return.

The benefit is our young players get used to travelling, in preparation for a rapid improvement for the 2010 season. Then we'll ask for just 3 interstate trips in 2010 with more games at our G!!!!!!!!!!

Let's plan for our players I say!

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
