Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Since he has come into the side he has kicked 19.3. Very impressive strike rate!

Has a very good set-shot technique... keeps the ball low and invariably finds the big sticks!

No doubt he will now come out against the Lions and kick 1.5.... but I thought this was worth mentioning. :P

And Brad Miller has kicked 11.2 so far this season.

Given the scarcity of forward supply this year, its good to know at least they're making the most of their opportunities

i noticed the same thing about aussie, didnt realise it was the same for miller.

the upside is we've been kicking well, the down side is, if we have been making such good a rate of conversion, we obviously arent having anywhere near enough shots on goal, given we are getting well beaten in most games.

does anyone know where to get a list of all clubs overall goals and behinds kicked, rather than just total score for?

also it is probably worth mentioning here, that i was thinking about our scoring and noticed that for a side with a lack of forward targets we have been doing alright. i mean all the forwards have been kicking a goal or two each, every week. we dont have anyone kicking big bags, which would help us kick winning scores, but i think we've been let down by our midfield in the goal department. with the exception of jones and bruce, who seem to have spent time resting forward, we havnt kicked many goals coming out of the midfield. is that part of the game plan, or are our midfielders struggling? i thought mclean, sylvia and a few others were capable of kicking 55 meters on the run, but they dont seem to do that...

Our efficiency when going inside 50 has also been amazing, in that 3rd quarter against the swans we scored EVERY TIME we went in there! And against the tigers we had about 5 LESS inside 50s in the first quarter to the toigs and yet we won the quarter.

I we just need to win it more in the centre, and then get a big bullocking forward to bring the ball to ground.

There was a stat in today or yesterdays papers stating we as a team have gone into our forward 50 the least of any side in the competition so far this year, so it's imperative that our forwards make the most of their opportunities this year, which to their credit I think they are...

I'd be interested to know how many haven't made the distance. I had someone take me to task about how he's not a very long kick, and that it's easier to be more accurate if you ALWAYS look to dish off, unless it's within 40 metres.

I've had the same argument with mates.

They reckon he can't kick over 40. I vividly remember him against Freo have a set shot for goal with the man on the mark at least 48 out and him popping it through, and i'm pretty sure i've seen him kick at least one more from 50.

I think he has a longer kick than he often uses, but that's because he seems a clever player who can move to space well and can take marks closer to goal

Yeah. By the same token I think there's been a couple of times when he's been forced, because of flooding, to have a shot and he hasn't backed himself. On these occassions he trots in from way out, winds up and runs into the man on the mark, or sprays it horribly.

I don't mean this as any ind of disrespect. Nathan Brown is verging on being a star, and without his leg probably would be... He's widely regarded as not being able to crack 50 metres. Undeniably accurate, just not great in terms of distance.

good lord dazzledavey! i hate to know what would happen to Bailey when we actually start winning games!

i remember a couple of years ago i was at a club function... youth forum or something...

anyhow, one of the directors was telling a story how he was saying how he liked it when melbourne won, because every time melbourne won a match, Bev O'Connor would give him a kiss...

our Irish rookie listed player (Nick Walsh?) quickly responded "What do you get when we win the grand final?"

45hotgod, I think your mates might be onto something. I'm not sure it's that he can't kick it that far, but that he kicks it very low. A shot from near the 50 (a little inside?) versus Richmond is one that would have made it, but was too low - Richo marked it on the line. The decision to handball to Sylvia instead of have a shot when on the 'G, Southern Stand side, Ponsford goals, is another occassion that comes to mind.

Thats because the Tigers kicked something like 2.7 in the first quarter. We could have easily lost that quarter, I was there. Saw what was coming in the second quarter.

Yep, and with that I hope we can finally kill off the myth that Miller can't kick!

He's kicked some fantastic - Un-Miller-like - goals this year.

Two he of the three he kicked against Richmond were just fantastic - and something we would ALL love to see him do more often, there's no doubt about that.

Yep, its been a vast improvement in Frosty's game...someones managed to get into his head...either that or someone's managed to perform an exorcism!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
