Read the Sunday Herald Sun today with interest to find that Buddy Franklin was a Melbourne Demons supporter before joining Hawthorn, that his favourite players were Gary Lyon and David Schwarz, that he used to wear a jumper with the number on his back.

Geez, to think arguably 2 of the 3 most important players in the AFL at the moment barracked for Melbourne, and we're languishing at the bottom of the table. .

Sad that he's now a hawk for life.

There isn't too many Demons in Perth either!

And Brock McLean a Bombers supporter, David Schwarz a Hawks supporter.............the list can go on and on.

Unless it's father / son, has club supported as a kid ever really mattered?

It's strange to think that not that long ago he was one of us following the Dees through all their (very few) highs and lows.

I'd love to see a team made up of Melbourne supporting players, it would be interesting to see.

- S. Buckley

- Judd

- Franklin

- Pendlebury (?)

- Moloney

I thought McLean didn't follow any one?

No.

No. And I'd prefer Pavlich anyway.

I'd be pretty interesting to do a full survey of all current AFL players and find out what team they supported as a kid, then make a best 22 from each side. I wonder if every side would have enough players?

I dont see the big deal in who a player supported as a child aside from hoodwinking gullible followers to think its creates some mythical obligation/ hold over/ ownership of the player's future and some dastardly piece of bad luck when reality sets in and AFL rules have concocted like they have for over 40 years to have the player playing for another Club.

FFS I don't see the big deal about a few posters simple having a chat about who supported what club out of "interest".

Your avatar with your nose pushing along the ground is good proxy of the impression you make here. Keep up the good work.

It's how I feel after reading all of your depressing and negative posts

I wouldn't as it would mean the return of Chris Heffernan. :o

I've been reading some of your recent posts, Rhino and, boy, do you have a bug up your arse recently. Which is a shame, because most of the time what you say is pretty spot on. Remember to always look on the bright side of life, buddy.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
