Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

New coach now?

The question now that must be asked ... how long before we decide we need a new coach. If we wait until season is over, I believe would be a mistake I reckon most good (proven) coaches will be already taken by years end. Malthouse will not stick around at the filth and must be considered. Eade is not an option, has left Dogs as he left Sydney, in disaray. It is something that the club must consider now, wait until seasons end when the good coaches are already signed would leave us with the situation we now are in, next best option please. Time we stopped ovoiding the enevitable, the football dept needs a whole new stucture, we have the players, though young, but not the leadership on or off the playing field.

Oh please Bailey is the coach for 2011.

Lets get over it, lets win some games in the next two months and worry about it then.

The subject is almost as boring as "will Scully stay"

We should thank our lucky stars that Malthouse will not be available whether we wait or not! We just saved ouselves squillons on a figurehead.

11 years to get a flag in the wealthiest club in the land... give me a break!

What's the rush? We have a coach. We can find a "manager" if necessary at any time. Dime a dozen! It's the FD and Cattle who do the job!

You are damed if you do & damed if you don't.

History suggests changing coach midseason is not ideal, however your point is very real.

If we dont move quick enough some other club will.

I think you will find there is every chance all options are being explored behind closed doors right now.

Unlike Grumpy Old Dee I don't find this topic boring I find it very relevant to our short term future.

If it's boring to you, go to bed, this is a serious issue not likely to go away soon, we need change and we need it now. How were you feeling on Monday if you were there?

I agree- let's just settle down and win the next 3 games and at years end let the club work out both Scully & Bailey's future.

Reality is we are probably stuck with the incumbent coach until the end of the season, unfortunately. However, we should be proactively looking now for his replacement - waiting until the end of the season is not an option, as other successful clubs know only too well! This is far from a boring topic - it is crucial to the future of MFC.

I'm with OD and JCB.

No need to rush this. Let's do this at the end of the season.

I know a lot of people have their own opinions on this but I have a hypothetical for you all.

Does anyone think it's plausible that, assuming the club decide to remove Bailey from the head coaching role, the clubs find a tactical/motivating type for head coach and keep Bailey on as an assistant. He'd surely know all the players' abilities, habits and needs more than anyone else could. I guess my questions are:

1) Would Bailey be interested?

2) Will he get a better offer elsewhere?

3) Would a new coach feel comfortable with that arrangement?

Go easy on me Artie

Ill go easy - Bailey simply wouldn't do it.

When has a head coach EVER stepped aside at a club, yet stayed on as an assistant? EVER?

The answer should be telling.

Who is REALLY available...and that includes Bailey.

The last thing we need is change for changes sake. And yes i was at Mondays Game. MCC level 2 so i saw it all unfold.

Who wants the job, let's not just pile money at someone Malcolm Blight St.kilda style.

1) Would Bailey be interested? IMHO No. No precedents either.

2) Will he get a better offer elsewhere? IMHO Yes. He would be at Essendon in no time ... they are very keen to win a flag. Probably not on that much less money either.

3) Would a new coach feel comfortable with that arrangement? No.

I accept it's never happened and I know it would be a bitterly sour pill to swallow. I was just wondering, hypothetical remember, whether Bailey would be offered anything else worth taking. I know there's no room for emotional attachment in pro sport today but I thought he'd consider still being part of his boys' development.

Just thought I'd put it out there.

sacking a coach mid season is a bad move, even when balme got tossed. can't recall many situations where it's worked; paul roos is the only one i can think of.

but it will be biggest comeback since lazuras if dean is there next year

Is Malthouse going to sign up somewhere else while the finals are on?

Eade is not an option, has left Dogs as he left Sydney, in disaray.

Okay, so who are these other 'good (proven) coaches'?

Laidley? Williams? Sheedy (hah)? Matthews (hah)?

How were their Clubs travelling when they left?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
