Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tonight is the turning point for the MFC.

Unfortunately I don't think it will turn out that way WYL. I'd think it would keep people away. Doesn't mean I want it that way, just what I reckon will happen. One bloke last night said he wanted 40,000 to turn up next week, but not actually go in. Would definitely send the strongest message ever sent by supporters of any club I'd think.

If the supporters do not get active now Kent, this club is finished. WE ALL MUST GO TO THE ADELAIDE GAME.

I also wrote an email and sent it off to MFC this morning. I have never sent a negative email to the club before and was hesitant to do it, but the MFC need to hear our anger, disappointment and utter frustration at the level of effort. Recruiting, management, staff, resources blah blah blah.... yes lots could be written. But the club must know that spineless, heartless pathetic efforts like last night bring shame to the jumper. That was the main point of my email.

All of us despairing Dees followers have seen insipid performances and losses that should be wins - we have probably seen 50 to 80 of them over the past 40 years - but last night was shameful and humilaiting. Players, admin staff and coaches come and go but we can never tolerate the red and blue colours being a point of shame and derision.

Do NOT hesitate in emailing or phoning the club. If they hear this from even 10% of us, that is 3,400 poeople nad must be taken notice of.

Also, I think we need to attend en masse the AGM this year. And demand an open question time of at least 1 hour duration.

Correct

For those who think the club is not listening, I just received this :

Thank you for your email regarding last night’s game. The game was extremely disappointing for everyone involved with the Club.

Please be assured that no one at the club is satisfied with the result or the standard of the game last night. It is now up to us to respond and the players and coaches are already focussed on our round 7 match against Adelaide at the MCG.

Your email has been forwarded to the Football department.

Thank you for taking the time to write and for your support of the Club.

Well I haven't had a response. Bit annoyed about that actually. I didn't expect anything personal, but something would have been nice. That said, hopefully it is because they've had that bloody many emails today, they can't cope :)

I agree WYL. And I know you are right, I just also want some sort of protest. What I would give to be in Melbourne at the moment. To be able to go to a game.

I hope you are still planning to attend BD.

The Club needs to hear the supporters...very loudly. If we all stay away from games, the club is let off.

I expect 35,000 pi$$ed off members to be at next weeks game....I want value for my hard earned coin thankyou MFC.

I would be surprised if we get 20 000

Depends how the Club responds this week i reckon OD. I have NEVER heard so much passion coming out of Melbourne Supporters, as i have over this day.

This one is different. This one isn't just "oh it's another loss, better luck next week Dee's....This one is a "F@#$k this i am NOT going to take it any more"

Big Difference.

This has to be a turning point. What undigestable horse S##t!

We played like the poor little kittens that lost their mittens. Weak as p**s!

No skills under pressure

No skills without pressure

second to the contest

No ability to kick in (every point in the first half was a 7 point play)

No ability to lock it in with their point kick ins

No midfield.

Panic!

Out of bounds on the full ! AAARRGHGH!

Points not goals.

Started at the 28 minute mark of the first quarter

Crap in any contest

No support

Opposition waltz through and mark everything

Soft. Soft. Soft.

Unacceptable.

This HAS to be a turning point. Show ponies have to become work horses and get a bit of aggro. Thats my rant. If this aint the turning point, I'll follow the local under 6's. At least they have a crack.

You saw a contest? I'm going back to the replay...

I've read all of the above posts and there's not been mention of what I considered the worst moment...

WCE kick in to an unmanned player on D50. Jurrah runs to the mark.

WCE kick to free man on the wing... ... ... MFC player gets to the mark.

(I turn to my girlfriend as we watch on TV and ask "Where is everybody?" "They must be flooding back," comes the reply.

WCE kick into the presumably flooded congested mess that is their F50... WAIT! No. No, my mistake. Mark LeCras; 20 metres clear of an opponent (who is that #27?)

WCE score.

I was stunned. I was completely shocked that it seemed we had no one on the field. It's possible WC are better than us and if that's the case I accept a loss on their turf, but to not play on a man? Surely even if the coach doesn't suggest it a player with any pride would say to himself "wow, our team doesn't have the ball... maybe I should find an opponent to reduce the chance of them moving the ball..."

I'm not the most qualified person to judge. But my u9's coach said that if we went hard we'd win the footy. In u9's we kicked more goals when we had the footy than when we didn't.

I can assure you this was personally written and not some soppy template. I wrote to all the email addresses in the "contact us" section, of the MFC website. This one was to the Membership department and had some other points - which I didn't copy - which were also responded too. They are listening. They won't reply to everyone.

I got no replies to my other mails, but that's not the point.

The most important point is that the club knows, the supporters are not going to accept this sort of play anymore and we all want something done about it - quickly!

Whilst i was very disappointed after the Lions game, i still sang the song. This was purely because i thought that i might not get to sing it as much as i thought i would at the start of the year. Little did i know how right i would be.

As for the no singing at the Bulldogs game. Are you serious. As poorly as we had played that night, the comeback was still something to behold. I remember thinking if Giansiricusa kicked the next goal, i would leave. Low and behold, he hit the post, and so started the fightback. What about when Danners came running down the stairs to share the moment with the boys. That's when we truly cared about winning football games. The same can't be said for tonight.

The Dogs game in 2005 was a magnificent comeback and great in isolation. The reason I couldn't sing the song that night was due to the realisation a few weeks earlier that we had thrown another season away and were not going to threaten for the premiership. I had seen us throw 2004 away after being on top after round 18, had seen us capitulate in 2003, had seen us fight above our weight for a top 6 finish in 2002 and seen us fall in a heap in 2001 after being handed a football lesson by Sheedy in 2000. I just wasn't up for celebrating mediocrity that night; but that isn't to say that I would begrudge those who did sing the song after the game and cheered every goal home. I was cheering when White kicked the winner as well but nowhere near as much as I did when we hit the lead against Carlton in 2000.

Good to see people letting the club know how they feel. Also good to see the club responding when they can.

The response I want to see is not just to come out firing next week against the Crows. The easiest thing in the world is to come out pumped up after such an insipid performance when they will have the blowtorch put to them by the media, fans and coaches. The real test will come in the weeks following. If they come out and play well against Adelaide (win, lose or draw) and then fall over the next week against the Kangas I will be absolutely fuming but really this is what I expect to happen. The test is consistently solid performances. I know we are young and will be somewhat inconsistent and I know we cannot win every game we play. But we can have a dip with every game and every contest for the rest of the year.

This will be the real test of the character of the players, coaches and club to see how they respond not next week but in susbequent weeks when their performances are not in the spotlight as much as they will (or should) be this week.

It's fair to say the membership department had absolutely nothing to do in relation to memberships last Friday, hence the reply from them..

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
