  1. He had no pre-season, came off a hip injury... Therefore he has no core, no power to generate any strength from. Toumpas was drafted in consideration of this, I personally didn't rate him that highly - but that was only based on the under 18 champs. Supposedly back then he had hip complaints and played throughout the champs under done. Everything is always potential with MFC, so I wasn't surprised we drafted Jimmy - ahead of ready made talent. The Jimmy Toumpas situation, it is what it is... At present it's not a concern, the guy basically had no pre-season. Some of you [censored] should go get a hip op and then see how well you'll run afterwards.
  2. If Swallow wasn't a number 1 draft pick, would we like this idea as much as we do? Not saying I am against taking him, but it would have to be after careful consideration and weighed up against other players potential - Shuey, etc.
  3. Basset is most impressive, I'd take him before Simpson or Burns. And... In a heart beat, Basset has done a great job in the SANFL.
  4. Paul Roos reputation is on the line, so I have no doubt he'll get the appointment right. Roos will want this to be a success more than anyone, so I have faith that our next coach will be a good one.
  5. I guess a lot of Dees fans became attached to Ollie pre-draft and still share a common like for the beast. Whether these threads get deleted or not, Ollie is a fav of many Dees supporters, so we'll have to just accept that these threads will continue.
  6. Ollie Wines has not stopping since the nationals last year, the kid is a beast. He'd be my fav AFL player - barring Ablett Jr. Love the way Ollie hunts the ball, he is a born leader, same as Viney.
  7. You are spot on, it's a necessary step and an important one, but by no means is Paul Roos the answer. Roos will set the foundations, which should at least give us a chance to succeed - that alone is worth getting excited about, but not carried away over. WYL, good post mate.
  8. Jim Stynes intentions were absolutely pure for the MFC, he will go down as one of the most important figures in our history. He'd of done anything for the MFC and hopefully we surpass his dream of having over 40k members. Thanks Jimmy.
  9. I'm absolutely baffled that these clubs are airing out their concern in a public forum, now I know how Essendon felt! It's bad presidency to involve yourself in the business of other clubs, it's not a good trait and I'm surprised these guys don't know better. Opposition sides are voicing their concern before the fact - because they know it will look too obvious after we get a PP, it's really pathetic. Eddie needs to pull his head in and stop pedaling his own club agenda on every issue, Newbold needs to worry about a finals campaign and the Scott twins can't be taken seriously because they speak on behalf of each other... As a president though, Newbold irritates me most because he raves on about equality - yet everything he says flies in the face of equality.
  10. I think we finally agree on something Ben-hur, good post.
  11. It would be good, but it won't happen.
  12. I sure hope Jman is not short for Jason Taylor.
  13. Adams won't cost us pick 2, so I don't see the problem with the hype. Shuey is about the only realistic target atm that would be worth giving up pick 2 - that has insinuated that he'd like to come back to Vic. Being a Dees supporter, he'd be worth pursuing.
  14. The ultimate realist and professional.
  15. I wouldn't worry about the time frame, Roos at the very least will set up healthy foundations at the club. I don't think the MFC is a 2 year job, after a couple years we'll be ready to challenge for finals and Roos will extend.
  16. GNF has a track record of around 100%, if he says Roos is coach, then Roos is coach.
  17. West Coast's list doesn't look in as good a shape now - as it did a couple years ago. Kerr and Cox have a year left in them, Glass is on his way out. Next year, West Coast will have to fast track their developing rucks for when Cox departs. Nick Nat is fairly injury prone. If rumors are true that Shuey is leaving, then they'd want to hope like hell that Gaff doesn't follow him.
  18. IMO he is worth between pick 5-15, possibly higher. Big bodied midfielder who would've been a great fit for us, sadly he re-signed the other week.
  19. He isn't a midfielder, would get slaughtered in there and would not rectify our mid field issues one bit. Scharenberg is a key position player IMO, I don't think he will make it as a mid fielder. Would still be a decent get, just don't expect him to be the answer to our mid field issues.
  20. When McKenzie is getting a gig on the Demonland banner, then maybe its time to just scrap the thing altogether?
  21. I think if we get a PP, we should offer GWS pick 3 for Adams and Pick 10. That does seem reasonable. Then maybe we could trade pick 1 for an established midfielder, if possible. That would net us Adams, an A grade mid, pick 10. A gun will slip to 10, no doubt about it.
  22. I thought I was getting Hodgey for a bargain early in the supercoach, sadly, he never came good and spudded up my side all year. Hodge looked past his best and shot this year, Buddy was also no where near AA standard., not even close.
  23. In this draft, that is effectively 2 first rounders for Adams - as Watts would get us a first rounder if traded. This is an even draft and even one of those picks could land us a player of Adams quality, it's overs. Keep Watts, he is coming good, the fact he even has any trade value is because he has remained reasonably consistent the past couple years. Cannot say the same for Blease, Tapscott or Strauss, hopefully Roosy can do something with them.
  24. That is bullsh*t, we are an absolute rabble and Magner should've been given a gig. It says two things.. 1. Is that we have a bloke tearing it up who can't get a gig in a shocking midfield. 2. Why even have the bloke on our list if we never intended on playing him? Well done MFC. Anyway, onwards and upwards, Neeld was about as competent as my under 13 coach and let's just erase 2013. C'mon Roosy.
