  1. The go home factor back to Adelaide isn't that great. It's certainly not as strong as the WA go home factor. We lost Scott Thompson and to hazard a guess, he'd be the best player to go home to SA in the past decade. I could be wrong. We apparently have strong ties to Aish's SANFL club, deep historical roots with the MFC. Welcome home Jimmy Aish.
  2. Both underachievers, it's a coin toss. Daisy at 700k a year is just comedy, he isn't worth half that. Has barely got on the park the past 2 years. If 350k a year for Sylvia is right, we can kiss band 3 good bye.
  3. I don't think Bud would get much sympathy if he was to go down with a knee injury.
  4. If we have to pay them out to get rid of them, then so be it. Cuddles was part of the tanking and Craig part of the Bates saga. In saying that, Neil Craig was the best person I've seen at the club in over 20 years. But, the ball keeps rolling, we gotta change it up and take a new approach in 2014. Both lads gave a lot to the club and should be applauded.
  5. None of the players have gone on to perform at other clubs. Rivers and Moloney excluded, but both performed her anyway and were FA. Rivers was a gun for MFC.
  6. We won't get a lot for either, but both should be moved on regardless.
  7. Doubtful. GWS have no hope of getting Fyfe anyway, he is a WA lad - who looks to love Freo. No doubt they'd be targeting Nick Nat as the WC player, but both are unlikely. GWS are screwed, they may aswell shut up shop.
  8. Dom Barry is about all we got going for us atm.
  9. Actually it could go the other way, they need more kids to sign. More kids would sign for the GWS if they didn't believe that they'd be 100% locked in to stay there. If Shiel wants to come home, they'll let him.
  10. We all do, it's universal. IMO It would be a steal.
  11. And if that is their mindset, then we don't want them anyway. We want players who want to play for the MFC and [censored] the rest.
  12. Smith ain't much chop, I hope this is a p*ss take.
  13. Kelly is not dissimilar to Jackson McCrae. Jackson had an impressive year. He was arguably thinner than Kelly coming into this year. If we take Aish, there will be people saying he is too thin, we shouldn't of taken him, we need inside mids. If we take Kelly, there will be people saying the same. If we take Crouch, there will be people saying he is a limited grinder, not worthy of pick 2, we should've taken Aish and Kelly. If we take Freedman, there will be people saying why did we take Freedman - when Kelly, Aish and Crouch were available. So, the MFC really cannot win, having said that I don't even think we'll have pick 2 come draft day.
  14. Shuey and Sloane are worth pick 2. As it stands, pick 2 has done nothing, he is most likely a rakey young bloke who can run. Pick 2, whilst he might be a good kid and test well, he will take years to develop. After a few years of development, there is no guarantee pick 2 will be anything better than a C-grader. Shuey and Sloane are ready made, both are B+ graders with the potential to put into that elite bracket. Both players would arguably be automatically our best player - especially in Sloanes case. Then there is Rockliff, who I'd probably slot in the A grade bracket already - with possibly even more upside to both Sloane or Shuey. I think Rockliff should be our target. Anyones thoughts on Rockliff Vs Sloane Vs Shuey, who would most of you prefer?
  15. If it is St Kilda, then they are F'd. St Kilda's has by far the worst list in the AFL going forward. St Kilda made the grand final in the middle to end of their window IMO, yet they believed they were entering their window. I thought after St Kilda lost the Grand Final that they should've traded and maximized some players value, balanced their list out a bit - planned for now and future. Instead, Ross Lyon put all his eggs in one basket and when 2011 was a shambles, St Kilda really needed to trade out any players who still had value. Now at the end of 2013, St Kilda decide they'll trade out players, too late... Their list is not in good shape going forward and if Indeed they are the club in financial trouble, then they are going to need more than financial bail outs.... I don't think they'd survive if they are the club WJ is speaking of.
  16. I agree and especially in regards to cook. We need players with a more aggressive mindset, a ruthlessness and a remorseless focus. In other words, another Jack Viney, Ollie Wines type of player. Players who appear to fit this mould just from observation... Kelly, Crouch, Hartung. Tom Scully held the big 3 IMO, his results to date have not came to fruition - so far. Jesse Hogan ticks all 3. Jack Viney ticks all 3. We need players with a psychopathic drive to succeed. That is what the MFC needs.
  17. I hope Jack changes to number 1, we haven't had a great wear that jumper since Warnock.
  18. No, we are not dreaming. Franklin is pick 19 due to Hawthorn winning the flag. If Hawthorn ended up where MFC did, they'd obviously get a much higher pick. A case can be made that sides that do win the flag - don't need as great a compo. In other sports, usually that freed up cap space is somewhat of a reward in itself - but those are often sports with an unlimited cap. I think the AFL has a long way to go to get the structure right, for the time being there will be big grey areas in the FA structure that the AFL currently has in place. On Sylvia though, given that Port got second rounders for Chaplin and Pearce, then we will be getting one for Colin. Not only was Sylvia a higher pick, but he was arguably better performed than both and on a better dollar.
  19. Those regulated leagues probably don't have a limit on the salary cap either, which changes the dynamic entirely. Also, in other leagues the compensation would come from the club gaining the free agent. We have a long way to go with the free agency model, the AFL could do worse than the structure it around the NHL model, there are similarities within both.
  20. Let's just hope our compo for Colin is in the second round. This draft is fairly even, there should be a few steals in the 20's.
  21. Now Colin is gone, wait for sides to come out in the media whinging that we shouldn't receive second round compo. Surprised this hasn't happened already.
  22. There appears to be almost zero benefit for the lower clubs in regards to free agency. The AFL needs to give overs in regards to compo for the poorer clubs. As it stands, the only players Melbourne will get through FA, are players that no other clubs want. And... Even then we'll be paying through the teeth to get these players.
