  1. It will make the strong teams stronger, add onto this that Sydney is getting an extra million in comparison to the MFC - who can't even pay to our salary cap capacity. The stronger sides in the past have had better development in order to maximize potential, better facilities in order to maximize potential - and to aid in player welfare. If the stronger sides get better compo, due to having better performed players, they will then be able to maximize that compo and get the most out of it. Therein a second rounders for Sydney will end up better than a first rounder for say Melbourne or Bullies. But, I will give the AFL the benefit of the doubt until they hand out the compo, but just going off what Port got last year, we should get a second rounder. The top sides are trying to make everything in the AFL equal, but they fail to take into account the sides down the bottom of the ladder. If the AFL was to drop everything, make things equal, that would suit the top sides, they have better lists, etc. They only way the AFL could do it would be to compo sides until they are on a level playing field - but then who would decide that everythings level? Vlad? Pftt.
  2. He is better than Pearce or Chaplin and they got Port second round compo.
  3. It makes sense to trade pick 2 for a player and a mid first round pick. It's an even draft where pick 2 could be just as good as pick 10-16
  4. Sounds like we are moving on pick 2. Mahoney states that it's VERY likely we will trade it.
  5. I can't take Terry Wallet seriously on the trade radio. Mahoney is now on.
  6. Roos will do what they should've done many years ago and appoint Nath Jones. The captaincy has meant nothing at the MFC since McDonald.
  7. They won't give up pick 10. We'd be bending to take it without 10, but we would. I wouldn't be against 2,20 and Jamar for Shiel and Adams. Pick 2, pick 20 and Sylvia For Shiel, Adams and Pick 10 might work though.
  8. It will, why would these mids want to play for hundreds of thousands less than they could get elsewhere. By paying big money players, Sydney will put their collective culture in jeopardy. In the past decade, the Swans have been built on the foundations of working together to get the most out of themselves. Bringing in Tippett and Frankling and paying them a stack, is not in the best interests of the other players on their list. Football is not just a game where players are happy to have the likes of Buddy around, it's a business and players livelihoods are at stake.
  9. No doubt, I agree.. I'd offer Shiel that anyway, he is worth it, the kid killed it this year and just tapered off late. Shiel is the Fyfe from 2 years ago - just ready to push into the elite bracket. If we could get Shiel, we'd be laughing. It would be amazing if we could somehow snare Shiel, Adams and Rockliff, or just 2 of them.
  10. To trade it! Picks 1 and 2 are gold this year. Given the chance, sides will jump at the prospect of either pick. If we give them pick 2 for Shiel, then they could trade that pick for a player. The only problem for the GWS is that it's starting to look like no one wants to play there. So that might be there biggest hurdle, but ... Money talks.
  11. I agree that Free Agency does exacerbate the problem, especially given the fact that the MFC can't even pay to the full extent of our salary cap - and then we are expected to compete with a stronger side paying a million a year over the cap, that in itself is ridiculous. As for the PP's, we should not receive any - yes I'd of loved one - but the reason why the MFC has been so poor is because of our culture. The MFC has created a losing environment and therefore players have adapted to that and performed accordingly, so why should we be rewarded for this? Now the MFC looks to create a winning environment and therefore players should start improving from here on in. The only thing is, is that the top clubs are getting stronger and the gap is increasing... But I still maintain that until we improve our culture, we should not receive any leg ups, but if we improve our culture and are then still losing - then I'd be disappointed if we didn't receive assistance. I think we lucky we have Roos, he is the one that started creating these ideal environments in order to collectively get the best out of the players.
  12. If Rockliff wanted out, then they'd deal for pick 2.
  13. We'd be winning out in that trade. It's unlikely there would be a picks swap, it's not necessary to get the deal done. If we wanted Rockliff and they know we would desperately need him - then pick 2 gets the deal done.
  14. In the past we have tanked in order to gain a PP, so we are lucky we weren't stripped of any picks. We should consider ourselves lucky as it is, we are lucky the AFL run their own ship to their own accord. Forget comparing ourselves to other sides, we have to fix our own back yard up before we can whinge about things being unfair. An unfair competition atm is the least of the MFC's worries, we have a list that does not want to play football - so we are in no position to argue anything else atm.
  15. 99% of posters on Demonland are respectful.
  16. I see no reason why opposing sides shouldn't go on strike if Sydney were to land Franklin. Movements start with minorities, so Eddie, if you are serious about what you say about COLA and equality - it's time to take some action. Some of the weaker sides in the league are unable to pay the full cap, whilst other sides - stronger sides - are able to pay a million a year over the cap. Now, for all these journos and their ramblings, why aren't they highlighting this issue more? Is it because it's not in the AFL's best interests? Are the main journo's just employed and controlled by the AFL?
  17. Jesse Hogan is a black hole that is about to devour the competition. This time next year there might not be an AFL, scary thought! Go JESSE!
  18. Not just Roos, but Bolten as a player. By Sydney adding Tippett and Buddy they risk losing Hannebury, Rohan, Jetta, Parker or another young talent down the track. Why should players stick together just to fund big money players like Tippett and Buddy? For one, what precedent does that set by the club in respect of lower tier players that could be on more at other clubs? This isn't a good move by Sydney, Tippett wasn't a good move and neither is Buddy, it will break their culture down in the long term.
  19. Yes, whilst they might have recruited Tippett and now potentially Buddy, it goes against everything that the Sydney Swans built over the past decade. The Swans created a culture of hard work, collectively working together as a unit to get the most out of themselves and now they bring in big money players like Tippett and Franklin - it all goes to off set the culture that they worked so hard to build... Paul Roos seen the writing on the wall and left at the perfect time.
  20. Why will Adams now stay at the GWS? I read an article yesterday and couldn't figure out how Franklin staying or going makes an ounce of difference for Adams. I thought it was one of the most ridiculous things I've read, but what are Adams reasons for staying if Franklin isn't there? Is it money based? If so, does GWS want this type of character at their club, I was sure as hell relieved that Adams didn't want to come to us after reading that article.
  21. It's not Watters fault, it's Ross Lyons. St Kilda should've off loaded Kosi, Dal Santo, Montagna after 2010 or 2011. Now they are looking to off loaded them and getting nothing for them. They can't even use the old one player one club excuse now. Ross Lyon is a great game day coach, but his list management leaves little to be desired.
  22. I agree, they can have our 2013 picks across the board for Fyfe.
  23. Sadly, even now he'd still be in our top 3 best players.
