  1. I tweeted this Monday: And this: Roos is cherry picking games to win, or working the players for long term development, or most likely a bit of both. Apropos, it would be interesting to see a correlation between training loads and soft tissue injures. Wonder whether Salem's hammy was load related.
  2. The AFL is waiting for the best time to announce Keefe & Thomas inadvertently took the cocaine by kissing each other in a nightclub.
  3. When will the static out of AFL house hint that Gold Coast will get a PP?
  4. If we had kept him (and Farmer, and Thommo he had not been injured mid 2004) we might have pinched a flag in 2004, 05 or 06.
  5. He was on the trade table last year, and the year before that.
  6. Freo will kick themselves if they don't win this year.
  7. Peak Demonland.
  8. I'd let Melbourne become an FTB if that would give me 12 premierships in my lifetime.
  9. We're lucky the Swans didn't bust the lead out to 80-odd points, but at least we hung in there to keep the margin to a less-than-embarrassing level.

Amazing the way the footy mates media is willing to believe Lewis's excuse. Everyone knows Lewis sized up Goldstein and gave him one. And yet people want to believe he had no time or intention to round-arm the marker. If footballers can change their kicks half-way through kicking, or give a look-away reflex handball, or find an alternate option out of the corner of their eye, they can certainly make their minds up in a split second to hit or not hit a marker's head.
  11. Bennell can play, but he is soft. Does he have enough talent to overcome his reluctance to win the hard ball? In a good to very good side, yes.
  12. To me a "leader" is someone who drags his side over the line in tough games - think Joel Selwood. Between Northey and now hopefully Roos, we rarely won a game when the other side put the clamps on us. I put that down to too many Whites and Yzes, who regularly went missing when the heat was on, and not enough Blacks (Simon) and Kirks, who just about always played well in big games. I would suggest James McDonald was a leader (and the league's most underrated player for about 5 years) and Nietz was capable of leaderlike acts despite being isolated at full forward. Not White and Yze, though.
  13. I am still laughing at my Freo mates who, to a man, kept saying things like "Col will come good."
  14. I think Hinch has given up pretending he barracks for Melbourne. Footy fraud.
  15. Sorry, I forgot: <humour>The tighter the angle, the easier to hit the posts, since the posts get closer together.</humour>

  18. The AFL now needs to cover nine matches a week on Fox Footy, Seven, Fairfax, ABC, SEN and MMM. That's six outlets, excluding all the interstate broadcasts I don't know about. There are not six good commentators and/or special comments personnel in Australia. No wonder I watch every game with the sound off.
  19. Coincidentally, the actor's name is Jack and the character's name is Jack.
  20. All the ground announcers in Australia should be piled up and bulldozed into Lake Burley Griffin.
  21. I've never had a free kick in a candy store.
