What is your favourite TV/Radio commentary team?

A dream team of BT and Dwayne?!? One man's dreams are another man's nightmares. -
If we DONT beat Essendon I will ...

Nothing wrong with "Tony". Welcome to the club. -
Yes. Port's style is testament to what happens when defensive minded opponents eventually work out attacking football. Personally, I am torn between whether we should play Roos' hallmark man-on-man defensive footy or Clarkson's (and Simpson's) team defence. Maybe a bit of both? But we are coming from a long, long way back, possibly further back than any team in the modern era. We needed to learn that AFL is all about big blokes knocking over big blokes, tackling, pressure and intensity, and Roos was brought in to teach the blokes how to play adult footy. Hopefully when Roos is done and Goody takes over the player will have learned from Roos how to bully a game and then Goody comes in and puts the attacking garnish on a hard nosed bunch of players (while not sacrificing the defensive aspects).

West Coast is the one club I would not want to play in Darwin. West Australian footy and Northern Territory footy have a long history and the NT would have a solid WC presence. May as well play at Subi.

I gathered the stats, analysed them, had them peer reviewed, and presented them to the UN: since 1987 in Melbourne versus West Coast games, WC have had 52,542 free kicks to Melbourne's 23.

Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)

Is it too soon to say Melbourne has the wood over Geelong at Kardinia Park? -

I hope you people realise that once you promise something on an internet site, you are legally obligated to carry through with you promise. I am especially looking forward to the Bail tattoo being applied while I unmute BT (and then leave the room). -

Every player has his price. What's Howe's?

Our handball in close has been quick, accurate and on-the-money
Tony Tea replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep. Fair call. StKilda and Collingwood were able to pressure us into extra handballs, and our own lack of strength and outright speed often prevented us from busting into the open (and when we did bust loose, too many players committed behind the ball meant we were players short down the ground), but I like the essence of where we are going. And remember, turnovers are just as much a product of lack of options as they are of poor kicks. -
And Salem has done his OTHER hammy.
-
I wish the commentators would make up their minds. In the first half they were blowing smoke up Cloke saying it was wonderful the way he was coming right up the ground and covering heaps of territory. In the second half they were getting stick into Hogan for having to come right up the ground to get the ball.
-
Roos blames the players because he cannot break his habit of bagging the Dees when he was on On The Couch.
-
The Collingwood loose man across the back line would not have been a problem IF WE DIDN'T KEEP KICKING THE BALL STRAIGHT DOWN HIS THROAT.

I had that very feeling when Malthouse started at Carlton.

The AFL loves a good back story.

No team has deserved a Priority Pick more than Melbourne in 2013. If the AFL refused one then, they should never give one. It is unlikely they will give one to Carlton this year, but they will be desperate to give one to their vanity project on the Gold Coast. Of course, by knocking back Melbourne in 2013 and Carlton in 2015, it will make it very hard for them to give one to Gold Coast in 2016. Not that rank inconsistency has ever bothered the AFL. The secret formula supposedly revolves around "extraordinary circumstances" but watch the AFL make a case that the Suns are an extraordinary circumstance.

Both times Eade has coached a club (Sydney, Footscray) he has taken over a list with a bit of experience and potential, as a result he has been able to use tactics to get them firing almost immediately. But as his tenure at both progressed, opposition coaches have worked him out and his wins have fallen away. Now he has taken over a list with not a lot of experience, and only youthful potential, plus the oppositions already know how he coaches. In other words, he's jumped straight to his wins-have-fallen-away stage. He is cooked. Hope they pay him well. Tactics and sexy maneuvers only get you so far. AFL footy is all about grunt, size, power & pressure. Fortunately Roos know that.

IT's not a grand final replay unless it's a grand final.

2007: Carlton dreadful, Pagan sacked mid season, Carlton lose all remaining games, Carlton "win" Kreuzer Cup. 2015: Carlton dreadful, Malthouse sacked mid season, Carlton lose all remaining games, Carlton "win" Prospective No.1 Draft Pick Cup.
