  1. So I’ve been watching a few old games from 2010-2012 recently and I’d honestly forgotten what a good player Trengove was. I guess my memory of him was clouded somewhat by the way he played in more recent seasons. If he can get his foot right, and get back some of the pace that he lost (and yes, I realise both are big if’s) , is there any reason he couldn’t come back into the side refreshed, rejuvenated and “do a Brayshaw”? He’s a good mark, he’s tough, reads the play well, is a great tackler, smart footballer… etc All the potential in the world. I saw in one of the threads someone say it’d be great to bring in another ready-made player next season in the mould of young Gus. Maybe we already have him? Pipe dream? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv7ZH-NKuIs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLVHBnm982Q
  2. On SEN yesterday morning Tim Watson likened Gus to the liquid metal terminator (T1000? Terminator 2?) because he keeps coming at you relentlessly and getting smashed (like he was by Enright) wont stop or discourage him.. He'll just 'regenerate' and come again!

  4. I agree, though I fear as soon as the next loss rolls around most will forget this week and return to tearing shreds off the players and coaching staff. xxxx is a dud xxxx needs to be sacked "pathetic club" etc Hopefully not.
  5. Apologies if already mentioned elsewhere, but this reminded me of a couple of other things I saw at the game... 1. St Kilda defender spoils over the sideline and gives Jesse a little shove as he is running off. Jesse stopped dead, and gives the guy a "please tell me you did not just touch me?!" death stare! 2. Jesse crashes a pack after which a St Kilda guy stayed down hurt. As he is lying prone on the ground, the Hulkster runs over and gives him a good shove in the back, just to let him know about it! Love him!
  6. I saw someone post elsewhere (most likely here) that Jonathan Brown was exactly the same early on, struggling with the 45+ metre kicks. Sure as it was with Brown that Jesse will be slamming them through from 50+ in no time.
  7. No I'm not, far from it. Post was directed to the ridiculous highs and the ridiculous lows some people, often the same people, manage to get themselves to week by week. Whenever we win the tyres are pumped up to almost bursting point. Whenever we lose everyone runs off to find the nearest cliff. Surely there needs to be some middle ground were everyone can stay calm and look at things rationally, win or loss.
  8. Demonland: Here come finals! (after any win) Demonland: Commence wrist slashing (after any loss) Demonland: No in between Demonland: Get some perspective
  9. Video is about a year old, but thought it deserved a repost for those that may have missed it... http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-06-25/demon-chef-episode-1 Skip to 1:15 Hogan at around the 1:30 mark...
  10. Disappointing crowd. Dont reckon there'd be much more than 15,000 at the moment. Cheer squad seems to have gone missing too. Only about half of the usual group here and thats probably being generous
  11. Disappointed with the result, but I really enjoyed that game. Missed shots from Garlett and Hogan really hurt. Frost missed a bit of a sitter too. Loved Vince's game today. How good was it to see in that 3/4 scuffle that it was Brayshaw to get in amongst it, pull the captain out and push him away. Not shy is he!

Collingwood, Sydney, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs are all in todays paper Called up the HUN just now to see when our poster would be appearing and they said this coming Thursday - 26/03
  13. What a thoroughly uninspiring performance. Lamumba and a couple of others aside, I think the highlight of my day was having my new scarf handed to me by TDI at the membership tent!
  14. 2008 game vs Freo is on Fox Footy at the moment, if anyone wants to whet the appetite...
  15. Thanks for the training report as always TDI. I'm generally more a lurker than a poster around here, but thought it was about time I chipped in with my thanks. While I am here, I saw you at White Night. Walked past you and your lady at ~3am on Princes Bridge. Almost didnt recognise you with the trimmed beard and no scooter!

Last year it was on March 20, 2 weeks prior to the season starting. If you give the HUN a call closer to the time, they can tell you the exact date.
  17. Very rough, but you get the idea... Green line = paid (ticket) Blue line = free (2 hours) Red line = free (3 hours) I almost always get a spot in the 2 hour section on Alexandra Ave. Failing that, I can always find one on Anderson Street. Enjoy training!
  18. Me too. Something else I learned last night which may have been common knowledge for others is that the new Casey coach is on the MFC payroll.
  19. I am sure it has already been raised, but I would like to see the MFC try and do something along the lines of what Liverpool do pre-game (and what Port have started doing themselves more recently). I was at the 'G for this in 2013... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDCiNGYfhPY ...and it was absolutely spine tingling stuff. Be amazing if we could emulate that in some way. Would just need to find an appropriate song/anthem to belt out. My suggestion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8KQmps-Sog Rise up and take the power back It's time the fat cats had a heart attack You know that their time's coming to an end We have to unify and watch our flag ascend (so come on) They will not force us They will stop degrading us They will not control us We will be victorious They will not force us They will stop degrading us They will not control us We will be victorious edit - fixed youtube link
  20. The other main sticking point PJ mentioned was that if we went standalone we would need a ground of VFL quality to play on. Standalone teams such as Collingwood have Victoria Park, Richmond have Punt Road, Essendon have Windy Hill, Geelong have Simmonds... etc Also, good job to the first person who stood up to the microphone and rather than ask a question, complained about the prices of beer at the bar... *facepalm*
  21. To answer this one... You need your 2014 card, but if you dont have it the people at the gate will have a listing of all 2014 members, which they'll use to check you off.
  22. I went by for a look today. Not much to add really as most has already been said, but some observations... - Petracca has a beautiful penetrating kick. I was watching him for while and every kick he did whether it be high and low got to his target very quickly. None of those "floaters" that seem to take forever to arrive. - Frost was very vocal and yelling out heaps of encouragement both to the young fellas and the senior guys. Good to see from a young player who has only been at the club for 5 minutes. - Petracca & Brayshaw in comparison seem a lot quieter and less vocal. Sure that will come with time and confidence though. - Bit of a Roos spray after he pulled one drill up... "Now why did that break down? It's three on three and two of you are forward of the ball. It's never going to get out from there, I can tell you that!"
  23. Thanks! I have an 11 game (all home matches) membership. As two of those games are played in the NT and I am not able to attend, I get 2 replacement 'home' matches in Melbourne (technically an away match but I can get in on my home match membership). Last year that was Round 4 v Carlton & Round 9 v Richmond
