I've got an AFL membership and love it. ~$60/month, which gives you 40 games per season and seats on level 2. (Also seats on level 1 and 4, but I almost always get a spot in 2 or 2A) It's an extra $11.50 to book a reserved seat to big games and it can be a bit of a [censored] fight sometimes, but if you are organised and not super picky about where you sit for high demand games like ANZAC you wont miss out. Also cheap tickets to rounds 1 and 2 of finals (presumably "wild card" round now too 🙄) and if you want a prelim ticket, you can usually get one. Edit - if you nominate MFC as club of support you are counted in their member numbers and get the member pack with all the bits and pieces. Also gives you priority access to the GF if Melbourne make it. As a Silver member, I’m behind Golds for GF access, but I’d still have a decent chance at a seat relative to other comparable $/month options. Edit 2 - I have an AFL membership cause I go to all the MFC games in VIC + a lot of other games with Carlton/Collingwood/Essendon friends. Usually use up my 40 game membership entitlement, so it works out a lot cheaper than a H&A MFC membership + individual tickets to all the other games.

It is literally what he said in response to the question "you are also meeting the Pies sometime up here, what do you like about them?" (having just finished meeting GWS, whom the facilities question was about, not Collingwood). He could have answered that question about meeting the Pies without mentioning the MFC at all. There was no need for it and it was a clear backhander (imo) that was reflective of his feelings and state of mind at the time. This argument has been done to death though, so I guess lets just agree to disagree.

As a big bodied mid they wanted him in the middle, but viewed him as too slow and not able to read the ball quick enough to make up for the lack of pace. He played a handful of games before doing his ACL, which kept him out for close to 12 months. When he came back Harley Reid was there and given WC already had a few other big bodied types he couldn't get back into the side. From what I've seen so far I don't see the issue with his speed. He is certainly not "slower than an average ruckman" as some Eagles fans have suggested. Off the mark he actually looks quite quick. He can obviously take a grab, looks pretty clean below his knees and kicks ok. So I'm not getting it either. Maybe WC just couldn't figure out how or where to play him?

Enter Sandman has been the best one we've had imo. This years one (whoever/what it was) was awful.

Moronic. Teams finishing 7th or 8th now have to win 5 games to win the flag and are at a huge disadvantage to 1-6 who all get a bye anyway. All so teams 9 & 10 who are highly unlikely to do anything in finals can be "engaged" for an extra week.

I don't get all the carry on about picks getting pushed out due to father/son or academy selections. eg picks 7/8 going to 11/12 Academy and father/sons aren't players we or any of the other 16 clubs would have had access to, so what difference does it make? We still get the 7th and 8th crack at the best of what is available.

Coaching and culture. They have a long standing habit of turning relative plodders from other clubs into very very good players.

Paying overs in trades? Losing players we shouldn't like Bedford? Three year contracts to guys like McAdam who can't get on the field? Even considering an old cooked spud like Mihocek? I'm not a massive fab of Lamb, but trying to make players nominating other clubs his fault too is a stretch. Is TDK also his fault? What about Worpel, or Draper, or Oscar Allen?

NWM 1000000% definitely deserved the 3, but Viney had 16 tackles in that game, which is huge.

Simpkin is exactly the sort of player most here would be complaining about if he went elsewhere and played well, while we brought in someone else like McAdam or Sharp. "Asleep at the wheel" "Sack Lamb" etc etc

We could have lost everything by waiting. What do you think every other guy on the short-list would have done once they figured out it was Buckley's job if he wanted it, but they were going to get dicked around till the end of the month to find out? We'd have been left with no one except Buckley, who would probably still have half an eye on Tasmania anyway. Then come his GF timeline (and after more time for the AFL to get their hooks in) what if he turned it down? We'd be back to square one. Probably even worse than square one cause who from our short list would want to come back, having already been told we didn't want them? We have made the right call.
