  1. I’m interested to hear what the reaction is at the G for the inevitable game we play against them next year. Will we boo him? Nuff nuffs? What do you reckon?
  2. Goodwin and co sure do seem ‘ecstatic’ for Hogan to be playing in the backline for the Dees in 2019... I’m with GNF, let’s see how it goes...
  3. I think we will give Preuss FF a go with the 6-6-6. Someone has to start in the square. Having Weideman, T Mac, Melksham, Petracca and Spargo/Fritsch/Hannan/Garlett seems pretty appetising for our midfield to hit up with no intercepting loose players...
  4. Yeah, the inference is that we will get him back cheaply in a couple years when Lyon has his way and he becomes a ‘turn croad’ ...
  5. Get out of the weeds and look at it from a higher POV: we turned a star asset about to enter his prime that didn’t want to be around anymore into a star asset in his prime, a possible best 22 player about to enter his prime, and a top 25 pick. We didn’t go back to the draft for a kid, we helped out the weakest area of the list, possibly addressed a glaring need with ball use and got a reasonable pick for the next spargo. I am impressed that we lose Hogan and yet have a better team for Rd 1 next year.
  6. It’s obvious this is designed to attack the need that the Gaff chase was to address. He definitely has a role in the best 22 if he can get fit - beautiful kick. Basically replace Tyson/Jones kicking into the forward line with KK/Salem and we are a lot better.
  7. So my lying eyes were telling the truth?! Its that damn observable reality again...
  8. I think we are a big chance to go into 2019 with 38 or 39 on the senior list. There is just no point in bringing in 2 players in the ND when you could probably get them with more flexibility in the Rookie Draft.
  9. This happens every year. I don’t think there is a vast conspiracy that gives us Peter Bell or Adrian Dodoro. It’s a small conspiracy - they’re D-heads...
  10. Not since a certain poster with the initials RR has someone attempted to make theads entirely about himself. It really does make the Ignore function a godsend...
  11. Good year filling in for Lever. Don’t know what role he will have next year, but his kicking is still in our top few which is eye opening but also a testament to the bloke’s longevity.
  12. So Hogan isn't seen as "two 1st Round picks", his value is seen as "whatever gets us May and also allows us to have more picks inside 30/get a plethora of mid range picks/insert your own thoughts on what we want to do"... We didn't do an ingenious trade with GWS in 2015 to get a top 5 pick; we targeted Clayton Oliver and facilitated that ingenuity to get him ahead of Essendon. It is trading toward an end, not each trade being an end in-and-of-itself. This is the imprint that Mahoney and co. have instilled in my mind the last 5 years.
  13. But it is not just the speculative nature of the picks - it's about managing your list and your football club over time with some sort of strategic direction; don't argue the value pick to pick or deal to deal but have an holistic idea of what you want to achieve and each individual part become immaterial. They are only important to link to the next link in the chain of deals and decisions required to get to where you want to get to.
  14. Without turning this into a 'Where is Oscar at thread?' I am reluctant to embrace Oscar and I have to remember occasionally that his improvement year to year is ahead of the curve for a tall defender and that he had a good season on a good side and he definitely has a future as a big lump to play on a big lump that will define the new era of the 6-6-6 set up. With my coaching hat on: Oscar takes the ubiquitous 2nd ruck, May takes the best tall forward, and Lever/Hibberd share the third/fourth 'talls' and try to allow Lever to help May and Oscar. Frost would be competing with May and in that scenario and May is the better defender.
  15. Nup. Don’t remember it. We beat Hawthorn, waited a week for something, I think Neil Mitchell was there for some reason... and then a bright blinding light... Woke up at the steps of the Demonland pub at the start of the trade period...
  16. The ‘message to the group’ is that we will be honest with you about your role at the club and that we will facilitate a trade to a club that sees a more preferred role should you not agree with how we see your future. I know it’s not a ‘bumper sticker’ of a message but it’s more preferable and accurate than your ‘earn your wage ya bums’ slogan...
  17. Absolutely spot on. We have met with May and nothing else is happening with him, and Mahoney himself said that we don’t have the ability to get him (a player we have targeted for immediate recruitment) and keep Hogan. No tea leaves or inside info needed to know what the clubs intentions are in the next 3 business days...
  18. If I am the ‘muppet’ then you have misread @Deestroy All’s diagnosis... Posters can whisper sweet nothings in our ear straight from their [censored] but Land has a long memory and it isn’t kind to those who do so. #rpfcrememberstrolls
  19. The club is actively trying to move on from a player and all the soothing from posters ‘in the know’ won’t change that. If the MFC has its way, Hogan is in purple inside of three business days.
