Reward the Ball Winner or Tackler
The reference to coaches pushing for decision making to be taken out being the world over - an example that comes to mind is the ‘clear path’ rule in the NBA where if you foul someone in transition and you are the last person it is a ‘CP foul’ and is treated more severely than if there is one defender ahead of that person even if that defender is nowhere near impacting the ability for the offensive player to score. It is silly; the player was certain to score and the defender has stopped that - the fact of where an extra defender is is really immaterial. Again, the reason to keep ‘if no defender on front of the play then it is a CO foul’ is to avoid the officials to have to make a decision... Officials make decisions and sometimes they get it wrong. Boo hoo. Thanks for indulging me if you read the above.

Reward the Ball Winner or Tackler
Coaches and admin around the world are trying to take decision making out of the hands of those officiating - they claim it is in the name of simplicity but it is purely because it removes another variable so that the coaches have more control. Hardwick is turning into an entitled blowhard and you shouldn’t listen to him. The umpires need to judge whether; someone has had a chance to get rid of the footy, the tackle is fair, and the ball was correctly disposed of. The rules are fine, the umpires need support and guidance and the coaches need to [censored] off.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
The reason why we are number one scoring from turnovers is not because of our skill in moving the footy - it’s because of where those turnovers are occurring - very close to goal. That may be stating the obvious but we talk about the skills and the DE getting better but I don’t think that’s the driver behind our success. We are just creating havoc well up the ground and it is easier to turn that into a scoring opportunity.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
I don’t think it’s uncommon. We realise what an opportunity the club now has and that enhances our anxiety and trolling of our emotion. I was better during the Carlton game as I knew we would respond and that the team’s effort is unquestionable right now. It will get easier to watch this over time as they are the real deal - but yes @old dee the club has conditioned us to expect the rug to be pulled and so we are understandably jumpy.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Our smalls are in such excellent form to keep the ball in our forward line. The leading patterns were understandably crossed and confused and that will get better over time. But if they want SW to be there, they will have to get creative with selection - I think Brown at FF is our best bet for success in 2021.

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
How many people on here wanted to drop Fritsch? I was probably the most vehement on here of the posters worth any salt about how bad his performance was and I didn’t say to drop him. Credit to him - he did lift (it wouldn’t be hard) - he chased harder and tackled and got to more contests. We all laud our new selfless buy in to ‘The System’ and the Demon Web and all that and if you are not playing your role in that you are on borrowed time. ANB, Spargo, Kosi, Fritsch, Jackson, Hibberd, Rivers, Harmes, Brown, Jordon, Brayshaw, Hunt, Petty, and TMac are all best 22 in 2021 if they are in form AND bought in. But if they do not buy in - there are players available who would be selected to replace them who would be happy to play that role.

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
If Viney is to replace Chandler, it will imbalance the smalls in the forward line. More time for mids who have to go through there - it is not a massive issue but one I would avoid if possible but the MC may see that as the desired set up at the end of the year. At the end of the day - your best players will work it out... ...provided they play their role.

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Jackson competes in the air - as does Weed. I would prefer Jackson as he is too valuable as an option to change things if Gawn is not doing well in the ruck. That is all things being equal; if Weed shows a dominant streak against the Crows then that changes but he was just so-so in the wet unfortunately for him.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
We are a very good team. We are rising up Mazlows hierarchy of needs this year so we look for improvements Good System - it’s fully bought in, sometimes there are some millionaires but their teammates are hard on themselves and they correct it. Brayshaw’s IQ - he was everywhere, if he could stop being lazy in execution he would have been clear BOG. Backline strong with Rivers setting himself apart from most kids in the AFL. Fritsch better around the ground and defensively. He probably got shown some vision and responded well. HFF is the toughest position in the game. Spargo, ANB, Kosi - our most important forwards with TMac - they are the reason we can play like this and execute this system. Bad Entries into forward line again... Leading patterns in forward line - they have not played much footy and it shows. They need time together and TMac showed he can play well up the ground as well as deep so we have an opportunity to create a forward line that is dangerous in different ways. They just need time. Meh Umpiring is tough as it is with the rule changes - they are doing fine - they are consistently inconsistent so quit whingeing. C7 commentary - we have these Neanderthals commentate because the nuff nuff fan base demands ‘credentials’ and a rooster in between the legs of those who put their hand up to call the game. Awesome Being a Dees supporter. PS. But I would take Viney back against the Dogs...

TEAMS: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Lol. FMD - it’s amazing the lengths some fans will go to give a bloke an excuse for a horrible game. If we was concussed - he shouldn’t have played. For himself and the team. He suited up and is fair game.

TEAMS: Rd 09 vs Carlton
So Fritsch is currently our 5th most important forward and 3rd option going forward. He needs to be present defensively because he is non existent at times and was an anomaly in the space time continuum for 3 hours last Saturday night.

TEAMS: Rd 09 vs Carlton
I hope the kid can get a few weeks to settle. But we will see when Viney has to fit back in and what they want to do with the Weed. Melksham was down and like Fritsch - if he can’t find the footy and affect the game - he has to impact defensively and he hasn’t been. I don’t have this hatred toward him tho that some supporters hold.

CHANGES: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Ah ok then - as another poster would say - thanks for paying such close attention to my posts on here. Its flattering. As for Fritsch - he is a soft front runner, much like the bloke whose trade facilitated us picking Bayley (Watts). But you need balance and I am more than happy for Bayley to be playing but you would be kidding yourself if you think he can put in many more performances like that against good teams.

A symptom of MFCSS; unadulterated negativity over the plans of a promising young player based on nothing more than their state of origin.

Goody's five big changes of 2021
@Pollyanna is spot on. And the singular thing that has us going 8-0 is the buy in the Demon Web or whatever they want to call it. It helps when you have May and Lever and Salem but the team defence is the difference. When you trust yourself, and those around you and you all do what you expect your teammates to do - footy suddenly clicks and it is beautiful.

CHANGES: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Ah, maybe you don’t get my humour... Jackson is a jet at 19, the kind of second ruck that makes me wonder if you and I are in a simulation. And my footy IQ is not in question, have a read, you might learn a few things. ?

Luke Jackson Replacement - vs Carlton
Jackson spends most of his time forward. This is a week for Gawn to step up, @Rusty Nails, not have a rest. I really don’t understand this constant desire for Gawn to be made a second ruck to someone lesser. It’s his effing job.
-
CHANGES: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Weid can ruck so don’t worry about that, no need to move TMac. He is a decent second ruck. Jackson is a ridiculous second ruck that threatens the fabric of reality, but Weed is decent enough to give Gawn a chop out.
-
2021 Injury List
Weed has decent rucking form so he should come in - the position is a forward who rucks and after last week - Gawn will want to ruck for most of this game too. No brainer.
