  1. If Collingwood beat WC then we would play every game at the G. But let’s beat Geelong first...
  2. Yeah, let’s not. Hope to see Don at the footy on Friday night. Onward and upward. Go Dees.
  3. Nowhere near? The beauty is in the grey here. Oscar is being pushed by Frost the last 8 weeks... If the MC like Smith, I don’t know who will make way, but Oscar is not ‘nowhere near’ being out of that side. He has a thin needle to middle here; he has to beat an important player, not make any mistakes, and contribute to us moving the footy up the ground.
  4. And Hibberd and Salem and Lewis and Fritsch and maybe Frost... But this argument is irrelevant. Oscar won’t lose his spot Fritsch or Lewis. He will lose it if we think that Lever, Frost, and Hibberd with Gawn behind the footy is more value than having Oscar back there amongst that group.
  5. I am a bit worried. If he is in the team to be the ‘gorilla tamer’ then he is in the wrong pen. Frost went to Cameron and will go to Hawkins. If Oscar wants to stay in that team when Lever comes back, he needs to step it up. And not to sound like @Clint Bizkit here - but he does stupid little things like let players run around him for one-twos and doesn’t man the mark properly. For his age he is fine, I just wonder whether he is in the team when we are healthy.
  6. A great Demon. Came to us at our lowest and gave you a reason to watch the team.
  7. Good footy players will make it work. Hogan in the middle from time to time and Weideman to continue his excellent progression as second ruck. McDonald may need to go back/wing as well if we are too tall. Gawn needs more of Weideman and Hogan is good enough to make it work in my opinion.
  8. Equally, if you don’t want it intimated that your ideas are idiotic and stilted - don’t share them in a thread.
  9. We are walking but that ain't gum we're chewing...
  10. The discussion is fine - this is a football forum - a discussion over the merits of trading someone is par for the course. What is also par for that course, is the judgement of posters and the 'discussions' they seemingly can't stop faffing on about - so continue with the stumbling around in the dark looking for your proverbial pants.
  11. I think he has been better than average. He has held that backline together all year after losing Lever and also Hibberd for a bit. He gets marked on a curve but he is a role player and has been executing that role well all year.
  12. They play keepings off footy and avoid contests. I’m sorry, but we are built to beat teams like this. We win the contested footy and then let teams off the hook on the outside. If we don’t switch off like we have done for 2 of the 8 Quarters we have played them - we will win. Will totally understand a bit of stage fright - in the first 5 mins - then it is time to get to work.
  13. He is also a big effing unit and uses the whole apartment.
  14. What a great run from vanders to be entrenched in that side. Amazing. If Tyson is done then Viney and Hannan. JKH survives as he is serviceable and is more use than Bugg.
  15. That was a reference to Oscar. Weideman is tracking normally - his ruckwork is a point of difference that he can build a career out of it if he can stay relevant as a forward like today.
  16. Ah. if it is a ‘snake’ system. It won’t be terrible. If it is not that and the top teams get 27 and 45 then it won’t go anywhere.
  17. So the top team get 27 and 28 instead of 18 and 38ish? The draft is meant to help the teams down below. I don't immediately hate it. Willing to listen to arguments though.
  18. He's a gun footy player - he can do whatever he wants on the field. Garry Lyon was the same - put him wherever and he will be great. Getting back to the point of this misguided thread - the only time we trade him is if he requests a trade - you don't shop stars and he is one. End of story.
  19. The more people we can throw through there the better for our depth.
  20. Yes, but his stints through the middle freed him up and helped out other mids. I am not saying he is going to not be allowed in the forward 50 - just that he should go through the middle more - he can do it.
  21. He knows what to do in there. Excellent footy brain, huge tank, good in close, great hands - you didn’t see him in there earlier in the year?
  22. I think that is true, but we have tended to wave away all criticism from sane sources because of the extremism of a few posters that I literally don’t see anymore (ignored). The beauty is in the grey and Goodwin is a smart and talented footy person with good relationship building skills. He has struggled maturing a team whose expectations jumped because of the level of talent that has been flooded into the club and the way the players have embraced the contested footy and aggressive ball movement. If we had split the games we lost by less than 10 points. We would be 15 and 6 looking at being a win away from a home prelim... I didn’t expect that in year two of Goodwin. And I also didn’t expect that Hawthorn result and said as much at the time...
