  1. I read an article many months ago in (I think) the Age suggesting that helmets of themselves did nothing to prevent concussion. They certainly cannot prevent the brain bouncing around after a heavy knock to the head! I'm sure none of us want to see Rohan end up like Daniel Bell!
  2. I've met Rohan, seems a decent sort of bloke! But he should leave while he still has a future. Another blow to the head could really mess up his life!
  3. Yep, that one was quite strange! Should've been Garland's free. But - made little difference in the end, Kennedy is a very good player and football smart!
  4. We certainly do miss Clint Bartram, he was one player who gave his absolute all when playing for the Dee's. Hardly ever beaten one on one the kid was a real terror: and the playing group and coaches loved him. And his disposal was certainly not the worst at the club! Jetta? A bit too loose for me. And Bail? I like him but not in the back line. Anyway, if I was Rohan Bail I'd give it away immediately before he becomes the next Daniel Bell and ruins his life. And Rivers, sh*t we miss him big time. But #46 for just his second game did quite well and certainly seems to fit into AFL nicely!
  5. 6: Jones N. 5: Jones the other 4: Sylvia 3: Terlich 2: Grimes 1: McDonald
  6. Ox as President = memberships!
  7. I do remember he spent some time at the "Doggies" as a part time coach quite a few years ago.Something to do with kicking - goal kicking maybe?? Someone else may remember the details!
  8. Terlich, Viney, Toumpas, the Jones's, Grimes, Howe, Tom McDonald and maybe Gawn, Hogan, Kent? are all worthy of our support and are all capable of playing winning football. But!!!!!!!!! the club cannot go on the way it is fostering ineptitude, if it does then these fine young men will be as ruined as Watts, Jamar et al. We were in very much the same situation in the mid 1980's with drubbing after drubbing (once I remember a loss to Fitzroy of 100+ points) - then Northey came and the game changed!
  9. 6: Jones N 3: Grimes 2: Davey 1:Howe And Jones M was OK again!
  10. I like the look of him as well. He, No's 5, 7,25, 31, 38. And a couple of others are our future.
  11. I have seen the team cheered off the ground too often after bad performances and yesterday I was not sorry to hear the booing! And damn it, I've followed this club through thick and (very) thin times for over 40 years and I expect supporters to vent their feelings at such extreme ineptitude as shown yesterday! And I sit with a former MFC player who was appalled by what he witnessed! He didn't boo - he left with 10 minutes to go shaking his head and swearing.
  12. So was I!This young man will be an excellent player for the MCG! Do not look at him in a negative fashion after yesterday's terrible, terrible game. Toumpas, Viney, McDonald, the Joneses, Clarke, Howe and one or two others are the future of this club.. They are the ones who will say "enough is enough" and drag those who really want to play along with them. (I believe young Viney has already made his fealings known to the playing group)!!!!! I remember some games in the mid 80's when we were as bad, if not worse than we are today and one newspaper article pointed to Lyon, Wight, Brett and Glen Lovett and proclaimed them as the bright future of the team, and they were! And I want to see what Terlich and Kent can do for the team and I reckon Blease needs to be on from the opening bounce.
  13. And the same from me!
  14. Two actually - Jones #45 also!
  15. The Baggy Green cap looks pretty old fashioned as well! Our cricket team should instead be wearing baseball caps - back to front of course! Otherwise thanks to everyone for the reports.
  16. He was doing some coaching work at the Doggies a few years ago I think! Goal kicking maybe? It would be good to see him involved around the club again.
  17. So who stood for us at the coin toss: anyone know?
  18. Not too bad on the big screen plasma via T-Box! And I agree that whilst a bit ant like, the less "sophisticated" camera work lets you see more of the action, more of the setups and plays around the ground. But I wouldn't count on it being adopted by the big boys!
  19. BGS produces "chaps"! It' also the smallest APS!
  20. Jimmy Toumpas: poise and skill. Jack Watts: poise, skill and maturity!
  21. I hope he becomes more pre-knees Ox! So with that thought in mind, Jesse please stay right away from sprinkler holes.
  22. I went to the game - first preseason game I've ever witnessed. Gee it's just the footy version of 20/20 cricket and about as serious. However I was thrilled with what I saw of Jesse Hogan - he has a presence that will turn into an arrogance the like of which we see in Buddy and saw in Carey! But watch the diet kid 100 kg at 17 - don't want it to get to 130 at 22! And Jimmy Toumpas! The kid has class written all over him, knows where to go to get the ball and knows how to use it. Apparently he is a mature and level headed kid and he looks it! Give him a few regular games to find his feet and he will be a genuine assett to the team! And as for our effort against Richmond, forget it, it was bloody hot out there and I reckon if we had been given the break instead of North we would have performed far better! (Didn't we beat Coll*@#%ood in a pre season game last year? Destroyed their year!)
  23. Unfortunately Col is like the player selected in the schoolyard scratch match - looks the part and is picked up first or second but delivers little. But Nathan Fyfe is picked up last because he doesn't look the part, yet goes on an delivers in spades.
  24. It means They are just a tenant, while we are a sporting section of the MCC!
  25. Bruce was fine full stop before Guerra dumped him hard into the ground at Docklands. He was never the same player afterwards!
