  16. I must with respect disagree! To me they looked like denizens of a sewerage treatment plant, in town for a night of filthy fun!
  17. And his nickname ‘ll be … Hendo (god help us, and there goes my Mensa membership)!
  18. THE team of the 21st century: Hibberd May Lever Rivers Petty Salem Brayshaw Petracca Langdon Neal-Bullen McDonald Sparrow Spargo Brown Fritsch Gawn Oliver Viney Harmes Jackson Pickett Bowey (Jordon) And no, I’m not being a smart a*se but they all achieved legendary status as premiership players, that players who came before them, no matter how talented they were, didn’t.
  19. Which is why the Commonwealth of Australia was created on the first day of the new century!
  20. Some great photos of training on the club website. #35 made my day!
  21. I met Noel at a couple of cricket club functions eight or nine years ago. Rather quiet character but quite imposing. Interestingly, he told me that he told people he played football for the Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club (as did a few others of the era)!
  22. Hassa Mann also received the Hans Ebeling award from the MCC in 2011 for his outstanding service to the sporting sections of the club.
  23. Does someone have access to the Martin Flanagan article he wrote on Robbie Flower? If so, could it be re-posted here please? I remember reading it when it was first published in (I think) the Age. It was as you would expect of anything written by Flanagan, beautifully written and very sincere.
  24. The Robert Flower Terrace is a permanent fixture in the cricket club area of the ground and was an initiative of the cricket club. I went to the formal opening, as did Robbie’s brother Tom.
