  1. PressReader is available to members of public libraries, academic institutions and to many private institutions as well (solicitors, engineering firms and the like). Your local municipal library pays to host the service for you to use. And the publications on offer through that service give their consent.
  2. A quiet tip (but keep it to yourself)! If you want to read articles that appear in the HUN and don’t want to purchase the rag get an app called PressReader. Link it to your local library* and bingo lots and lots of publications at your fingertips (not just local and international newspapers but magazines as well from all over the world)! *If your local library isn’t signed up to PressReader then tell them to or, join a library that is!
  3. This has something of a Daniel Cross feel to it. Good bloke, excellent trainer, good to have around our younger players.
  4. Allan LaFontaine? Percy Beames? Tom Wills? Who knows? And of course does “greatest” mean the same as “best”? Allan LaFontaine captained Melbourne to three premierships and coached the club in the late 1940’s. He may not have been the very best Melbourne player, although he won the Truscott Medal 4 times, but an argument could be advanced that he was the greatest. Otherwise Gawn is the very best ruckman I’ve ever seen! (Although 188cm Polly Farmer was a bit special as well)! Barassi is the most intimidating player I’ve ever seen! Robert Flower is the most elegant player I’ve ever seen! And David Schwarz is the should-a-been but cruelled by injury!
  5. Unfortunately, they only show St Kilda games, although perversely they did show the last St Kilda Melbourne match from this year. Apparently they took almost fiendish delight in seeing the Demons get beaten.
  6. As I’ll be well and truly dead in 15 years, please report their progress via priest or spiritualist! I can assure you I shall be very interested!
  7. And it’s goodbye to 2025 (men’s comp)! A frustrating and unfulfilling year! 6: Oliver 5: Gawn 4:Salem 3: Bowey 2: Langford 1: Rivers
  8. Yes he was. I heard him say so on a number of occasions. Given his age, he would have followed the team in the mid to latest 1950’s and into the 1960’s, golden times😀.
  9. 6: Gawn 5: Bowey 4: Rivers 3: Turner: 2: Petty 1: Salem
  10. 6: Gawn 5: Viney 4: Fritsch 3: Salem 2: Bowey 1: Culley (for encouragement)!
  11. I’ve been a member for over 40 years and I can’t remember ever being asked to fill in a questionnaire! But if I was asked, I’d tell them to turn down the volume of the music (or just turn it off) and ask Russell Robertson to stop shouting when I’m talking to friends!
  12. Disappointing beyond words. And I had to put up with Kelli & Derm for heavens sake! But here we go: 6: Gawn 5: Viney 4: Fritsch 3: Bowey 2: Pickett 1: Chandler
  13. 6: Petracca 5: Melksham 4: Gawn 3: Salem 2: McDonald 1: Fritsch Then Oliver, Langford, JvR.
  14. 6: May 5: Pickett 4: Turner 3: Bowey 2: Viney 1: Melksham
  15. Who of our younger players has held an on field leadership position at a junior club? Xavier Lindsay? Who (if anyone else)?
  16. 6 votes for Turner’s hanger, and that’s unfortunately it from me! (Very disappointed).
  17. Really, how could I go past Kozzie: he made my day and ruined it for the few Swans supporters sitting nearby. 6: Pickett 5: Oliver 4: Gawn 3: Petracca 2: Langdon 1: Rivers
  18. I miss Daisy Pearce!
  19. Congratulations on joining an elite group of Melbourne greats this weekend!
  20. 6: Bowey 5: Oliver 4: Melksham 3: Gawn 2: Pickett 1: Rivers
  21. 6: Gawn 5: Bowey 4: Langford 3: Windsor 2: Pickett 1: Langdon
  22. I wish I could award Max 10 votes; but rules are rules so: 6: Gawn 5: Viney 4: Chandler 3: Petracca 2: Melksham 1: Turner
  23. Well I thought Max was a stand out leader tonight: so - 6: Gawn 5 Bowey 4: Viney 3: Langdon 2: Petracca 1: Chandler And I thought Rivers, Sparrow, McDonald, Salem and Langford played well.
  24. 6: Bowey 5: Gawn 4: Pickett 3: Rivers 2: Viney 1: Langdon
  25. Really little to be enthusiastic about: but I thought the following players were acceptable! 6: Langdon 5: Gawn 4: Bowey 3: Salem 2: Pickett And here I’m scratching- 1: Petracca
