Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
Dee Dee replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Trade, Draft & Free Agency
And Scott Pendlebury grew up a Melbourne supporter and loves Collingwood! -
I understood that to coach at AFL level, prospective coaches had to undergo some form of training (cert 4) or the like. Is that correct or can anyone coach without some form of recognised formal training?

Or how about Footscray ! That has a nice traditional ring to it!

This whole thing is playing out like one of those old afternoon TV soap operas. Will it ever end? Tune in next week same time same station for episode 5376 of Homeless,The never ending Quest!

Chris Judd’s tour of our training facilities at Junction Oval readily springs to mind!

Steve Smith: all the right credentials, ex MFC player, ex MCC president, good with media, good negotiator.

The whole commentary was (as always) spoilt by Dermy! I wish he’d just shut up. I’m not sure if I read it on this site or elsewhere, but someone said - ask Dermy the time and he’ll tell you how to build a clock!

I attended the club AGM just after Max was drafted and remember Jim Stynes introducing him, then having them stand back to back to emphasise how tall Max was. Jim was certainly no midget but Max was a good half to three quarters of a head taller. There were audible gasps from the audience and a few laughs as well. And of course at the time most of us in the audience didn’t know who this kid Max Gawn was, we had come to see the Melbourne Football Clubs new saviour Tom Scully!

There is on YouTube a podcast called Absolutely Essendon, (latest episode from a days ago). Unfortunately I don’t have the skill to put the link up, but easy to find. Very amusing and good to watch. The two presenters certainly don’t hold back. Well worth a look.

I trust you don’t mind me correcting your post. I was at that match, damn disgraceful. I remember a doctor saying at the time that Mr Long came within millimeters of killing Simmonds!

Melbourne to Adelaide along the great ocean road over 3 or 4 days, then back via Ballarat. I’ve done it a couple of times - beats flying IMHO, especially if taken at a leisurely pace. And the scenery “WOW”!

Excellent Cale Morton interview with Ben Gibson, well worth a look/listen: I saw it on YouTube. Fascinating insight into the down years a decade or more ago. Morton certainly comes across as a pretty smart bloke! ”The watch with Ben Gibson”

Farmer coached Geelong in the mid 70’s. I used to occasionally go and watch training when I worked down there.
