  1. Sean Wight to the backline! Danny Hughes to the ruck!
  2. That's what I was eluding to in my post. Looks like he should be back at school getting ready for year 10!!!
  3. Great pics 6 but who's the 15 year old kid pictured with Mitch Clark? Our new team mascot maybe?
  4. Gee, a Hawthorn reject: maybe we have another Brett Lovett in the team!
  5. And a decade ago the Geelong football team were called " The Handbags "! Teams can change, as can perceptions!
  6. Hi Pates, Good job - well paced, tightly edited little film. Most enjoyable: even the bloke in the black n' white.
  7. Nathan Fyfe's not the most rugged looking bloke going round. I'd invite him to play for the Dees anytime!
  8. I think there may have been some bad feeling between Gerard Healy and the MCC. A few years ago at one of those pre-season MCC luncheon's Healy (who was a panelist on the day) mentioned that his application for MCC membership had been rejected by the MCC committee after he left the Dee's and it was only now (around the time of the lunch) that he had gained MCC membership! I also remember him, during his time commentating at a Melbourne match being very unhappy with some of the abuse being thrown at his brother ( playing for Melbourne) by Dee supporters. I doubt G Healy has much time for us at all!
  9. I well remember Robbie playing in the back pocket against KB and giving him an absolute bath. Bartlett had to resort to holding and scragging to stop him getting near the ball. And that game against Richmond where he marked just about every kick out from full back-wow, I remember it well! Martin Flanagan wrote a terrific article in the Age about Robbie, if someone could find it and post it? I saw Robbie at the 'G recently, he looked great!
  10. I'm waiting, waiting that is to see the talent he's supposed to possess. And I have been since his first game!
  11. The Brad Green of a few years ago (pre captain) would be very handy. As would the pre injury Clinton Bartram! And incidentally I reckon we'll see James Magner back in the team before we see some of the new boys!
  12. Folks, thanks for the training update. The misses and I are currently in New York, she's shopping and I'm starved for a football fix so I really appreciate any info I can get about the team because believe it or not there is nothing about the Dee's in the New York Times or Rupert's Wall Street Journal. Gee - it seems the guys really are training the house down! I'm starting to feel quietly optimistic about next year and I reckon I've gone from a glass two thirds empty pessimist to a glass one third full optimist in a couple of short weeks. Keep up the good work.
  13. I'd have to go for Tom Wills, so he could remind everyone we played that it's "Our" game! (otherwise R Flower or Theo X)
  14. Actually the MCG at approx 174 x 147 metres is a bigger expanse than Subi. The Subiaco oval is longer by a few metres but at approx 120 metres, not nearly as wide. As for Cale Morton and others who are rumoured to be departing - I hope Neeld and crew aren't doing to us what Royce Hart did to Footscray!
  15. If he doesn't make it as an AFL player (and I sure hope he will) he already has the attributes to be an excellent stand up comedian! Wasn't it Max's antics that helped drive Tom $ from our door???
  16. If I remember correctly Spalding and Northey didn't hit it off. Spalding was (if my memory serves me correctly) supposed to be traded to Richmond but landed at Carlton and a premiership! I'm not sure of the intricacies of that deal. Wayward kick but great mark and a bit of a cult figure around the club!
  17. I well remember loosing Alves and Greg Wells and that hurt. Apparently Alves now dislikes Melbourne with a vengence and as I remember it, Greg Wells was quoted as saying that even as a Carlton player he still had a soft spot for the Dees. And I hated loosing Woey.
  18. Probably supported Geelong like his dad! However as an old BGS boy he should be comfortable in the Red and Blue.
  19. Hassa Mann was honoured by the Melbourne Cricker Club in 2011 receiving the Hans Ebeling Award for outstanding service to the club.
  20. I'd be very careful what you say about Jeff White GD: Todd Viney may get very, very angry and visit your house for a little "chat"!
  21. Medicine is a more "hands on"study than law or commerce. One must cut things up in medical school !!! Whereas in commerce one just adds them up. I think Brian Roet was our last doctor (and what a good player he was). What ever happened to Brian Roet?
  22. A win in Perth, a win in Adelaide!
  23. I'm glad they've kept Lynden, his last few games down back were quite servicable. If I remember correctly he now has a baby son: often with responsibility comes maturity!!! And a loss of facial hair doesn't hurt!
  24. I've met him at the last couple of AGM's, clued up bloke! However Ch 10 are in such deep sh*t he'll have his hands full with them. However a nice relaxing time with the MFC board may just be the tonic he needs after a hard day at the TV studio.
  25. I unconditionally support the Melbourne Football Club (a club I've followed for over 50 years) on the condition that they collectively pull their finger out and effing well give me something to cheer about (like a premiership)!!!!!
