  1. Well, a bit of good news,Jack Fitzpatrick kicked six goals for Casey seconds on the weekend, and was named best on ground. OK so it was Casey v Frankston but good to see Jack up and about. I'm looking forward to seeing him in red and blue next year! (he's been a bit of a forgotten player around here)!!!
  2. Yep, agree! However, Dean, sorry it had to happen like this. You seemed like a good bloke (and they'll welcome you with open arms into the ever expanding "sacked coaches club")
  3. Good points you make, however Jim Stynes has built up so much goodwill for the club (no PR company could have done as well) that he must remain on as chairman (to use the correct title for the head of a sporting section of the MCC)even if it's a titular position. Jim is still the perfect figurehead for this club IMHO. However a strong and media savvy vice chairman would then be able to take on much of the day to day work Jim is unable to do because of his health issues. Just another point: since Andrew Leoncelli stepped down from the board I heard that Jim was supposed to take on Andrew's task of board member responsible for overseeing the football department. With his continuing health problems this may not have been possible - so maybe: 5. Ensure someone on the board with a football background is appointed to oversee the running of the football department.
  4. Jim saved this club (with a little help from his friends) but I don't think he's been too well these last few weeks. And I'm sure today's result will not help him feel any better. I think the players (together with the coaches) are the ones who deserve a kick up the bum. They're the ones being paid big $$$ to play the game.
  5. He isn't as talented as a few of our other players, but he sure has a talent to "see ball, get ball". It seems to be a talent lacked by most players on our list!
  6. And what about Tom's management? If he goes to GWS how much more do they rake off his contract than what they would get from him re-signing with the MFC? Isn't it as much about the extra money (commission) they would receive?
  7. I believe the bond is between Trengove and Tapscott. They were school friends and apparently Trengove was delighted when we took Tapscott. Frankly I'd be very upset if Scully left, but more so if another club poached Frawley!
  8. I agree with all you say! And Max went at #34 in the 2009 draft.
  9. 6: Watts 5: Martin 4: McKenzie 3: Green 2: Scully 1: Howe
  10. Yes DemonDave now I remember and yes, how times change! Dane Swan was in tears after the game and had to be consoled by Mick Malthouse. In those days he was nothing much of a player but boy oh boy has he turned himself around!
  11. Who was playing on Adem Yze that day? Does anyone remember? I have a feeling it was one of the Maggies current stars (but may be wrong). Anyway as I remember (and I saw very little of the replay yesterday) Yze starred that day.
  12. Not one Melbourne player was in the top 10 on the ground, however:- 6: Sylvia 5: Morton 4: Martin 3: Watts 2: Gawn (encouragement award) 1: Howe (encouragement award)
  13. Saw the game on TV and Petterd was everywhere! Do we have a new position for him as an on-baller? Or was yesterday's performance just a fluke against a below average VFL team?
  14. Throughout my many many years of watching the MFC, I can remember relatively few players have had an impact from their first game. Adem Yze for instance took a season or so to settle into the side (excuse the alliteration) and Russell Robertson was in and out of the seniors for a few years before settling into permanency. Luke Tapscott appears - at this stage - to be one of the few who felt comfortable on the big stage from the moment his feet hit the turf at the "G"! And even more so when his shoulder hit Rhyce Shaw in his first game! Luke Tapscott has certainly impressed me this year! Watts and Martin have dun good too.
  15. At the beginning of the season I thought Martin was holding on by a fragile thread to the MFC and a career in football. So his improvement this year has been most pleasing. No, he's not a world beater, but I see improvement in his game week to week and with his reputed high intelligence, I should imagine he would keep improving as the year progresses. At Stephan's age we were all calling for Jamar to be sacked, which would probably have seen him back in Adelaide ripping it up for the Crows!
  16. 1: Pendelbury (Dee's supporter) 2: Buddy (Dee's supporter) 3: Jack (Not Reiwold but Kieran), (shooda been Dees supporter)
  17. 6: Jones 5: Martin 4: Evans 3: Bartram 2: Sylvia 1: Gysberts
  18. 6: Martin 5: Frawley 4: Sylvia 3: Maric 2: Watts 1: Warnock I also liked the way Newton played, he tried and tried against massive odds!
  19. Here's an analogy for you:- Bailey is rather like the junior school teacher who has done his job at getting his pupils to a certain level of skill and accomplishment. However like many such teachers, he may not be adept at teaching senior students, at taking them to another level - and that's where a senior school teacher steps in!
  20. Well, well, well, I received the same email! I bet it's a form letter kept by the club.

    Todd Viney

What about Todd's ex boss at Hawthorn - Alistair Clarkson? Ex Melbourne player, still young and has the runs on the board!
  22. "Writing won't achieve anything" you say. I beg to differ strongly! The more letters and emails the club gets the more they know how passionate we the supporters are! Maybe in the past we've been known to be somewhat apathetic but bugger it, enough is enough. It's time for us the supporters to tell the club what we think. Remember (and this is to all members) It's our club, unlike a privately owned English soccer club we the members own our club, we elect the board and by paying our subscription and joining the club we have every right to criticize aspects of the club's performance. And last nights on field performance was absolute cr*p! And yes the media will also be out in force. But as supporters and members we can't leave it all up to the media!
  23. It's time for a Schimmelbusch/Pagan moment Right Now!!!!!
  24. You never know! Look at Dane Swan: only in the last 2 or 3 seasons has he shown any real class and he was recruited by "them" back in 2001. Wasn't he the player who played on Adem Yze a few years ago and got smashed when Yze kicked a bag of goals? Some players mature early: some late (trite but true)!!! Tapscott for one looked like he belonged from the moment he first stepped onto the field. Watts didn't and neither did Frawley! Re-visit in 2014.
  25. Thanks for that, I shall correct anyone who pronounces it otherwise!
