  1. Winners get the frees, losers complain about the frees. Win the hardball you will get the frees.
  2. Some clubs are rubbing their hands at the prospect of Col becoming available, why because they know that with the right coach he can far exceed anything he has done to date. Would be unhappy if he is not a Dee next year.
  3. Well we should have been a certainty.
  4. Beamer the next captain, JT, Grimes, Rivers and Jamar all to be in the leadership group. JT is still too young for me and Grimes needs to focus on his fitness. Long term I see JT or Grimes as the long term option.
  5. Life under Ross Lyon would most likely be dour and potentially uninspiring. However he can build a cohesive team with a defensive mindset – something that is essential in our next coach and is also essential for competing for premierships. All in all, I would welcome Ross Lyon (but some flair would also be nice).
  6. A big change that Cook, given his body size is pretty tired at this stage of the season. IMHO it is more important what he does in the November - February period than what he is doing now.
  7. Would like it to happen but cannot see it occuring.
  8. Luke Hodge - tough midfielder, great leader and a weekly inspiration. I admire him more than any player in the competition. Hawks could have anyone not named Watts.
  9. Neeld interests me a lot. Eade not so much as the head coach but in another role.
  10. An interesting proposal. If we had a strong club culture that could manage him then definitely worth thinking about. I do not think we have this culture however. Furthermore the way Howe is coming along, he may be a full time FF next year.
  11. We might have been flying by our standards, but by league standards I cannot think our pre-season could be considered flying. Look at the size of the Eagles young to mid age players. They have dedicated far more gym time than the Ds.
  12. Exactly. Remember we play other clubs who are professionals as well. Some of the insular notions of posters on this site is baffling.
  13. Some of the comments on this post I agree with, for me it is the same garbage, different names of the team sheets. I do not expect this team or any other Melbourne team to challenge for a flag. Membership will be shot for next year.
  14. 6. Howe 5. MacDonald 4. Petterd 3. Chip 2. Blease 1. Rivers
  15. It is not a question whether we have gone backwards, the question is by how much. I make this comment in light of the fact that our opponents are always improving as well (except maybe Port). Look at the Eagles improvement for one.
  16. Some of you are very harsh - a joke is a bit much. That said, I think Clint's time with us is up. Don24 has already noted who can take his spot.
  17. You need to ask what their motivations were.
  18. I would be surprised if he did not. No one who bleeds for the club could possibly feel like standing back after this. That said, this is not the time for the club to implode.
  19. It would not be the first player mutiny in sports. Not that I am saying that is what happened.
  20. No such thing as bad publicity? LOL
  21. Garry Lyon said on MMM - today was not a loss, it was the destruction of a club. Pretty serious words. For mine there is no laughing, no joking, no funny ‘positives’ out of today. Our deficiencies of the last 10 years were simply exposed again, by an exceptional opponent. Little leadership, no mongrel, no muscle. If you think because we have had high draft picks, things will change, I think you will find yourself wrong. Time for serious decisions and the recruitment of leaders, not followers.
