I can't believe more positive things aren't being said about him. I thought he showed a lot of promise and fits the game plan well - he attacks the ball, runs and carries, and can actually kick to a target. He's got strength too. Hopefully he keeps it going because he could fill the void down back.

Valid observation by TU as per usual...Chip really shone out on Sunday

Thanks mate. Yeh well after they'd kicked their 9th in a row I started focusing on some of the players, Frawley being one.

They kicked 9 in a row? :o I kinda stopped counting after the 4th one, knowing we'd lost the plot.

I was very pleased with Frawleys game, he attacked the ball well, ran straight and thought a bit about where his posession was going to go. Despite that ungainly style, his kicking was pretty effective.

I also thought it was a good move to put him on Fevola in the last quarter to give him a bit of taste of what its like to play on one of the competitions elite that is in fine form. Really felt for him where he attached the footy in front of Fev, did everything right but got a cruel bounce and Fev somehow soccered it through from beneath Chips legs. Great goal, but Frawley was desperately unlucky there.

Frawley seemed to ignore the game plan of stop and look sideways to handball to a guy standing still, instead he put the head down and ran, and made a lot of the more experienced defenders look stupid.

Well done, now lets play him for a good stretch of games to give him some confidence at AFL level.

but what he did show them was that the game plan can actually work when you run forward, are prepared to take the game on and also put the ball in front of the leading forward!! he was responsible for some of our best passages of play!!

he has a lot to learn but would rather he learns it at afl level than at vfl - also like to see him continue to get the big jobs.,.. corey jones, etc...

i think they may have found a good one here!!

Its an absolute joke that he didnt get a game til Round 5

We have been crying out for a key defender for years. Frawley is the goods so play him and LEAVE HIM IN THE TEAM.

Its been a bigger joke from the posters that had listed him for the axe at year end.

The sooner we can get rid of that peanut Carroll the better.

is he a direct replacement for carroll or will he play the third tall??

i know it says fev kicked 7 but carroll i thought did a pretty good job, thanks to help from the other backman.. although he continues to give away cheap free kicks, he battles manfully one on one!!

when the ball is coming in as many times as it is, we put pressure on our defenders!!

the development of frawley will be interesting - the sight of the number 8 moving at pace yesterday was a sight to behold!!

Bad game on the weekend for Carroll but he has been fairly solid so far this year. The peanut will be a permanent in defence for the rest of the year.

I actually do not think carrol was bad, he really had 3 kicked on him, can't count the free wheelan gave away and he kicked 3 on frawley.

Hard to believe blokes like Garland have been playing wit chip back at sandy. Took the game on, and was one of our better players. His drilled pass to someone (possibly Green) about 40 out never went more than chest high from the ground. His kicking style looks unco, but is quite effective.

As far as Carroll goes, I would say he has been on of our better players so far this year. Our defence has been under constant pressure so far this season.

Rhino - Carroll was touted as All Australian Full Back a couple of years ago. He's the best thing we've got in defence. Ball is coming down too quick.Frawley is no good. He showed that last year and i dont want to see any more. Tend to disagree with what's written above. Thought he was average yesterday.

If you want to start talking about peanuts then use your time effectively to discuss players that have played 1 - 3 years too long.

Watch Footy Classified tonight and see how media savvy our skipper is compared with the other two players they have. He'll be a distant third!

Carrol was touted on this site as All Australian just like David Schwartz was as good as Wayne Carey and David Neitz is better than G Jakovich as CHB. Its a myth Travis!!!

Fevola made him look stupid yesterday. Carroll is a decision making vaccum whose disposal is a toss of a coin proposition. His efforts to upset the opposition fly back in his face when he is persistently caught off guard or out of position. And to top it off he is culture sink for a Club that can least afford.

I know you would not want to see anymore of Frawley. You have written him off in one year. In a few moves Frawley showed why Carroll should look at lower leagues in future. I look forward to Cheney and McNamara stepping up when they are ready.

BTW, Travis the discussion on who has been held too long has been flogged like a dead horse here. I am not surprised you have missed it.

Totally agree. Our backline will be an absolute joke until this bloke is no longer our FB. He just isn't one, pure and simple. He was fuseless on the weekend.

If you're saying that you dont want Carroll at MFC because of 'culture' then its goodbye to McLean as well?????

Dont get me wrong I'm looking forward to seeing the kids you mentioned, and others too - but some aren't going to make it and its obvious. Dont know how you could be so blind. Though I thought Shane Neaves was stiff!!!!

Agree 100%

Some absolute dumbasses on this site, some absolutely cringe-worthy posts regarding frawls...

Key defenders almost always take ATLEAST 3 seasons before showing that they are capable of taking on the best forwards in the afl.

Nathan Brown of Collingwood is a freak exception, and even he did nothing in his first afl season.

Frawley has just entered his 2nd afl season as a budding key defender.

He is not ready to take on the best forwards just yet, however he has the skill-set and has shown promising glimpses. that's all you can really ask for in a 19yrold KPP.

He is quick, dashing, effective disposal, strong overhead, and able to spoil. sure, atm he doesn't do this consistently, but again...he's 19 and skinny playing against bigger, more experienced (and better) players atm.

play Frawley for the rest of the yr and fasttrack his developmment

Oh dear. How little you do know about Carroll? McLean a 22yo bogan that can play footballer. Carroll is a 26yo ongoing concern who can arrange a bad haircut and growl at the opposing FF but little else.

Dont know how you could be so blind. Though I thought Shane Neaves was stiff!!!!

Neaves stiff you say and others blind!

Now I know what the ?? are for in your nom de plume.

God, i hope you're all wrong. I really do, but for now you lot cant see the forest for the trees

Trav, the line of argument you are putting forth is about as persuasive as a dead slug who even before death had not the slightest interest in being persuasive.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
