true, but i would think most are disco bikkies rather than ice.

Nobody other than the media said Cousins was on Ice. IMO, there is no way he was. Coke, yes. Pills, probably. But, ther is no way Cousins could have maintained an elite standard of play, and kept his body in such good nick with an Ice addiction. It was just the "now" drug for the media to jump on.

Just for fun I voted on a clean basis, I would Love to see a clean Cousins running around in the Red and Blue.

It could be out of desperation but that about sums it up for me. If he was still in the draft above a third round pick. Subject him to weekly drug tests.

give cousins a shot, hes been man enough to face his demons, he isn't a criminal and hasn't been charged with anything, His character as man to come clean on everything is something alot of people wouldn't handle, I admire him for his courage and facing the savagery of the media, Some respect should be given, he is human, we all make mistakes, He can play the game, is still better than any player on our list, All the club would have to do is make him [censored] in a cup every week

what this tells me is that he's very keen to play footy again, getting up that early to run sprints... i think the venue is just incidental, however things are looking more and more like we will have first pick in the PSD, and we would be pretty silly to pass on him, unless another good player came up...

I would go for Cousins. I wouldn't worry about his drug problem with the way we are playing who's to say that the whole club isn't on drugs, especially Bailey with his cutting edge game plan that no one understands.

If the players were on drugs they would be playing with a false sense of confidence.

All on-field evidence points to the MFC being a drug free club

Unfortunately that just about sums up the club at the moment we are stuck in the 50's with our conservative ways. If we are to continue as a club we must be bold and not just go for the safety option like we have for year after unsuccessful year.

I think you need a history lesson on the 1950s and the Melbourne Football Club before making a statement like that

There's not too much to lose with drafting Cousins........

1) his base wage would be far less than he would command if he didn't have this cloud hanging over his head,

2) he could teach a few of the softer blokes at our club to run hard, bust a gut and tackle,

3) don't worry about Gardiners adversion to drugs etc - Gardiner won't be there by the time the draft comes around, and....

4) by all reports Jim Stynes will be on the board in one capacity or another. Given Jims work with street youth, he could be the man to guide Cousins through the hard times should any demons start to plague him. (and the only demons we're likely to see for a while as we're now MelbourneFC).

Sorry to bump this thread...

Apparently Ben Cousin's is making his come-back this week... for the Wallan F.C in the Riddell District Football League.

This is 100% serious

Wallan used to be part of Melbourne's old zone. We might be a chance!

no!

no point

getting old, how old 30?

hes not gonna win a premiership at melb. hes just gonna be a waste of time and money at melbourne!

rather get better draft pick

Because someone who has won a Brownlow, premiership, been an All-Australian 8(?) times and is widely regarded as one of the best trainers and hardest workers in the AFL has nothing to offer to a young midfield

I dont think the Riddell Football league has ever been in our zone. Try Essendon.

Anyway they play in a Magpie jumper.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
