I think the club should head hunt him, throw an obscene amount of money at him and catch the decent players they have to let go due to keeping Brown

But we should try our hardest to get him, we will defiantly have the picks and the money, no reason we should not.

Unless we want to stay a rudderless, soft side without a out and out star, in which J. Brown would fill all those.

He wont leave Brisbane. Why would he? Played there his whole career, and they're on the verge of challenging again. Why would he want to play out his career at a club which is on the brink of destruction and wont make a tilt at the flag before he retires?

I think your right nugget & morton10, the hawthorn model is the way we IMO should go. We allready have a start as we have a lot of valuable kids under 23 who need games built into them. But we need to recruit some class talls for the spine. I see Frawley as a 3rd tall who'll take over carrolls role, (carroll should be a 3rd tall in other sides) down the track, hopefully.

Rivers is an important cog in our defence but should not be the No 1 Key defender, McNamara looks to me quite short, 6'2" or 3"ish. Still room on our list for a top line Key Back.

We also need to recruit a power forward.
