I know this is old news but i still cant get over TJ being traded. Even more so after watching yesterdays performance. Surely there were guys out there yesterday who deserved it more (Yze). I know he wasnt the toughest but the toughest coach in football has snapped him up so what does that say ? I also Know he wasnt the most committed player but hes not on his own there. I just dont get it. Maybe theres something we dont know ???

Truth is, he was the only tradeable midfielder. And he didn't set the world on fire with Brisbane on Saturday.

Lucky for us he wasn't out there swanning around with his mates.

Couldn't be happier with the trade.

It was great trade

If you thought we were soft yesterday, imagine Johsntone out there running around like a headless chook

Johstone is 28, and with his lack of conditioning and his lack of passion, his career will be over very soon. He might have a good year this year up in Brissy, but then he will be finished.

Jack Grimes will be a star.

You really have no clue if you are bemoaning the Johnstone trade in the wake of yesterday... the question is why did we hang onto Miller, Robbo, Bruce who all could have fetched us something. We would still have ended up with the same 08 but we'd have a few more kids to try desperately to avert the next generation from following suit.

More to the point i can't believe we did not trade bruce and green with him.

QFT.

If you ever met Johnstone, you would have realised he had the personality of a socially disabled 14-year old. His personality reflected his on field performance: uninspiring and care-less. He could have been good, and was sometimes, but was an underachieving player.

I'll tell you why Mathews took him.........Brisbane have a strong CULTURE in place, Trav can't corrupt that on his own..........we are trying to get what they already have, a tough culture that is all about WINNING contests...........Trav will be better fo being there, and they have some added depth and talent from him, but we need kids like Grimes who are tough juniors with a toug attitude to help turn our culture around.............so suck it up, cause more will go end of this year too!

No prizes for working out who is leading the official tally of clangers after round 1

Travis with 5

after round 1, i thank our lucky stars that we traded Johnstone just in the nick of time.

the guy is 28 and is inconsistent and overrated.

instead we now have a guy who's 18 and will hopefully have a long and successful career with us. we need talented youngsters, not 28 yr olds

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
