Well.. Im fairly pleased with all that lot :)

We now seem fairly balanced. the existing team is boosted with the potential of the new kids. It will obviously take time for some to come through but we seem to have addressed areas many thought a concern. Some height and speed is added to the back line. Some new rucks are added to the developmental group. And some serious potential is also put into the forward line.

As they say it wont happen overnight but if even half these "budding' talents come to fruition we have a fairly good looking team.

Well done MFC :)

go Dees !!

oh..a p.s.

for those who wanted some "X" factor. watch the likes of Magic Maric and Aussie Aussie Aussie in years to come :)

Have a notion Morton might be that classy winger we need too :)

cant wait for 08 !!

Thanks for the list BB59.

No wonder we are all excited for what is possibly to come in 2008; All the fresh faces, talent and experience tells me we are going to play to win in 08.

Im really lazy so can anyone with time (and non-laziness) see how many players we still have over 30 and maybe calculate the average age? Becaue last year we had one of the highest if im not mistaken

very happy, people at work say the Dees have to rebuild, years away from being competitive. Bailey got handed a decent list, and with latest additions has a lot to work with

our average player age must have decreased significantly since the draft.

this was crucial because this season our list was simply too old.

with White, Neitz, Yze, Holland and Whelan all to retire within 2 years, in 3 years time we are sure to have one of the youngest developing lists going around

and robertson, bruce and green on last legs (all will be 29 or above me thinks)...

also add junior to your original list.

the core group of mclean etc will be around the 25 mark, and apart from the 3 i mentioned will be generally the oldest players at the club...

Neitz is the only one i'm worried about having to fill.

Juice's going okay but needs to lift a cog or two for him to take the position.

White - Decling badly due to global warming.

Yze - hasn't being important to the team structure for a while.

Holland - Very good fill in but still a fill in.

Whelan - Bell/Bartram.

JMac - Good honest player but not a game breaker.

thats 11 new young players all under 21 years old! looking mighty fresh to me

Agree its a big change to the list and you could expect a large number at the end of 2008 if certain senior players dont perform.

Just came across some interesting statistics, albeit from the 2006 season.

In 2006, Melbourne had the least number of players in the league aged between 20 and 24 years of age. However, in the same year we had more players 25 years + than any other team in the comp.

That year, we had the 4th oldest list in the league.

If the average age of our list is now 22.378 then this would make our list the 2nd youngest in the comp when compared to 2006 figures.

That's a pretty radical change in two years.

Wheatley

Holland (will probably retire anyway)

CJ

Miller (make or break)

Posted

I must declare a liking to Whetas. .hopefull y he can take a step up this coming season. Until someone comes along who can do better we need his booming kick outs.

CJ..yep..agree.. needs to really show his stuff.

Probably Clogs last as surmised

Miller.. hmmm... next!!

Jamar and PJ must be on borrowed time unless they get going.

Warnock is going to heave to break through or he'l l be usurped by someone behind him.

Weetra may never tie his boot-laces in anger..

I'll invite the normal amounts of scorn by suggesting Dunn, Slyvia and Ooze will want to keep the standards high.. plenty of willing footsteps behind them.

Then we have some injury prone lads.. As much as we like them Beamer and Wheels may find themselves on the endangered list if they break down again.. harsh...but thats reality !!. One certain D Neitz might be a member of that club also...he's not getting either yonger or fitter..just an observation.

cue...barbed arrows and burning oil !! :lol::rolleyes:

If you look at Schtacker's list, skimming the top player off each of the sub-lists (besides the most recent one) would be a good start. From Wheatley down, they're the ones who are most likely to have the "why is your output so low?" question asked. I also believe guys like Whelan and Moloney are only one season dogged with injury away from the axe.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
