is it me or is the newer image of the mfc looking more mature?

is that a good thing or a bad thing?

that being said the rest of the advisory panel thing was a bit of a non event.

Meh. How come we have to change our jumper so much when collingwood and essendon change barely anything?

I actually think it looks ok

But i'm a bit confused as to why we need another alternate strip

What's wrong with the pre-dominantly red one that we used a few times this year?

I don't mind it. The key to a good clash jumper is that the primary colour must be different from the main home jumper colours. The red one clashed with Essendon still and also was not a great contrast against Adelaide. By having silver as the primary colour, it will now stand out clearly from these two clubs, as well as other clashes with Freo, Carlton and the Bulldogs.

I also like how there's still some red and blue in it to keep it Melbourne-specific. The design is a little odd and the red line/sash reminds me a bit of Essendon which I don't really like (sorry Ash). But on the whole I think it does the job well.

Are you saying that this is our new clash jumper?

that is horrible! worst jumper ever!

I'm with you, condemned 84.......it's horrible ...I hate it. Why do we need another clash jumper !!!!

If kath and kim had a football team they would wear that jumper, it is the worst piece of [censored] i have ever seen, this is worse than the lions white jumper and any other crappy one any other club has worn, we will be the laughing stock of the AFL. I hope we get flogged in every match we wear that atrocious crap.

Who freakin designs this? Really they need a reality check.

I repeat

WORST! JUMPER! EVER!

Sorry...I think it's bluddy awful!

Our colours are Red and Blue not Silver, Red and Blue.

We should come up with a variation on our normal jumper and not shell out to some graphic designer wanting to add to her/his portfolio (conjecture yes - but I wonder) <_<

new logo and a new sponser....so 1, we wouldnt be allowed to wear an assics design, and 2, it is out dated because of our new logo

i dont mind this jumper....its not as good as i was hoping but i think it pooos on this years one....i was hoping it would have something to do with the 150 thing, or be a bit more traditional....carltons clash jumper is still by far the best, dare i say it

The jumper is actually not bad, and the block use of a neutral silver colour, is good.

The thing that bothers me is that the design is not balanced. Garments that are flattering, work on an equal top to bottom ratio. The fact that the bottom part of the jumper is so busy, will IMO be very distracting. But I understand that they wanted to still incorporate our usual jumper into it, so from that point of view they did well.

I wonder if they hired a design company to come up with this jumper. Anyone know?

i still cant work out why we need a clash jumper. for the 2 or 3 games a year we need to wear a clash we should be selling our jumper design to some company that wants advertising (like the carlton blue smarty). make money out of that instead of selling home games, we dont lose tradition that way...

maybe it could look like this ??

Really does it matter what we think? As far as i can work out the advisory thing is a load of crap! The way every Melbourne supporter that I know votes they go the opposite way so do you think they will care what we think? The Melbourne Football club has a list as long as my arm of putting members/supporters second and I as much as I wish believe it won't change anytime soon...

Oh yeah I hate the jumper to.

And maybe it could look like [censored]!

Oh wait, it already does.

i dont think you understand the concept of a clash jumper...as much as we might not like it, the AFL insists all clubs have one and the little clubs like us cant fight back...the idea is that it doesnt clash with other teams jumpers, even if you want to for the 2-3 real clashes in the year, sell out to sponsors and let them design it, it can only really be done for one offs because jumpers need to be done in the masses and the AFL has to approve them blah blah blah...also, the changes in alternative jumper allows more revenue because hopefully nore young fans will buy the jumper now...

and maybe the design isnt that great but its not as bad as your making it out to be...it fits in with the new logo, the home jumper and wont clash...that is the idea last time i heard

Posted

I'm not wedded to it but I'm surprised by some of the schoolboy angst over it.

One of the worst clash jumpers I've seen is our current one.

Posted

I dont mind it..

It only bemuses me that with the opportunity to crow about our anniversary that it doesnt prominantly display the 150. Surely that needs to be everything Melbourne this ( I mean next ) year :)

Posted

Come on all you knockers...whats so bloody terrible about it, given its function ?

The way some are carrying on your think it was black and white !! :)

Posted

this is an era of recycling !!!! pmsl

I just know i will regret uttering these words..( as many just wont get the context..*sigh* )

but in reality what is lively and happening about our home guernsey ?? its just a jumper we all love.. but theres not a lot happening on it either !!

The reality is they could come up with a dozen jumpers and there will always be those that Ok it..and those that nay-say it.

Im more concerned with whose wearing them to be honest

...having said that i still reckon the 150 ought to be featured.. but its not.. such if life.. we move on

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
