Brad Miller To Swans

Quote from the article Its Miller Time...."It's only been four weeks, I've been taking it easy and putting the feet up." he said.

"Probably over the next month it will get a bit more serious."

WITH DEAN BAILEY ANNOUNCING PRE SEASON AT THE END OF OCTOBER AND THAT PLAYERS BETTER TURN UP FIT AND RARING TO GO, NOT QUITE THE COMMENT I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED. LOL

I think you'll find that unlike many of our young players, Miller has a baby that I'm sure he is enjoying spending time with.

Fitness has never been Miller's issue, besides the notion that players don't deserve time off is just crazy. Win or lose, they still work hard all season and they deserve some downtime like we all do. IMO there is a risk of burn-out if you push them too hard too soon.

I think the Miller detractors will eat their words. Putting aside our dearth of KPP's Miller is clearly a player who has lacked confidence in the past 2 -3 years. Previously he was aggressive and used his body to have a physical impact on the game. A couple of reports and loss of form resulted in his confidence going. This year he showed snippets of taking good pack marks and kicking long goals. I also think his decision making is improving.

I agree he has been deplorable down back. He is a forward and he needs to be coached well and once he regains his confidence and starts hitting the packs hard again you will see a different player.

Bailey is supposed to be a good teaching coach. Miller has the raw talent and potential to develop into a good CHF so the challenge is there for him. If he goes to the Swans and has success there will be a lot of red faces at the MFC.

I agree he has not developed as much as we thought he would and I think Daniher has a lot of explaining to do in that regard. He persisted with him in the backline where he was clearly out of his comfort zone. I would give him a one year contract (not two) and give him and Bailey a chance to resurrect his career. What is the worst that can happen - he has another bad year and is in and out of the team. Is that so bad given the potential upside and the fact that we have few KPP's anyway.

And on TJ - what is wrong with you guys? I can understand him being up for trade in an attempt to get Judd. But with a new coach and hopefully an attitude change to match TJ could be anyting. We have all been waiting for it to happen - the challenge is there to him and Bailey to achieve and not let another club benefit.

Great work Pello, i couldn't agree more.

I think a 1 year deal would be perfect for Miller. If he has another bad year then i wouldn't hesitate to trade him, however, if he does perform well next year then he could be that CHF we've always wanted. I dont think he plays his best up back but when he plays up forward he can be dangerous at times.

If we can use him as part of a deal to land Buchanon we'd obviously be mad not to do it, but I think we'd be pretty stupid to swap him for a draft pick in the 30s.

He's obviously a very limited footballer, but he's not absolutely useless as alot of people here seem to think. Half his problem is he still gets shifted from the fowardline to the backline without really being able to settle. If he gets a full preseason to hone his craft as a tall negating defender he might still be a reasonable player, and god knows we need another tall in the backline.

He's not a forward though, and I'd rather see him traded for peanuts than perservered with at CHF.

If he has another bad year, he won't have any trade value. Currently, he has a bit of trade value.

So it's not so simple as give him another year and then see. We need to make the decision now - keep and develop or trade?

when were these times of dangerousness ?? lol.... must have missed that decade !!

In all seriousness I cant see any point in offering a 1 year contract to someone Millers age.. He either has the goods...or he doesnt. A 1 year deal is like playing tennis mid court or backig all favourites.. I mean you might win.. but you dont win anything !!

We've seen enough of Miller to know what he's capable of (?). So had Bailey; he's reasonably up to speed on our boys ( as he would have had to study them to bits for the job interviews/presentations etc )

Miller will NEVER be any use at CHF and have my doubts about using him at the other end..This is the whole dillema, where do you actually put him where he's of use ( of any impact !! )

What many of us are saying is lets not make the miustake of hanging onto another player that long that 1) they cease having any trade value as any supposed potential is exposed as fraudulent 2) Footy is brutal, game time needs to be devoted to players that wil come on and Miller hasn't. We all would have preferred he had..but he hasnt...thats just reality !!

I rate him as one of the best at the club............in looks and an amazing body too. Does that count for anything? Probably not given that 98% of you are blokes. Come on Jaded, Demon Deb, anyone else

1 thing that will save Miller

16 Marks in a final!

Point is....not that he can ( or cant ) mark...... its what he does with it afterwards !! Thats the problem

Holy crap!

Well this is just... Um...

Holy CRAP!

There's another team that wants him? I kind of understand that Roos saw him at his best when he played on Hall, but still...

I'm fascinated by CAC's response that he's a required player. If we could get Buchanon that'd be great, but we'd have to give too much in terms of picks as a sweetener.

I'm not happy losing 6 years of development in a KPP just to get pick 11 in a shallow draft. We'll probably end up with another Miller, only in his teens.

This'll be an interesting one.

CAC syas he is a required player because he wants the best price for him, he wants Sydney to give us something decent for him

Funny story*.

A long time ago, in fact, when Miller first started at the club, my friend and I ran into him while out and about.

My friend said to him "if football doesn't work out, you can always try modelling".

I thought it was a fair comment. :D

Actually, his partner is a model so he'll have plenty of industry contacts ;)

*you had to be there

Saw Miller at the last Victory game, his missus was very fine. Looked Italian, or maybe a bit spanish. Family Guy joke there, very hot.

Anyway, looked very angry or upset the entire night, don't think he's a huge soccer fan but maybe he was mulling over some big career decisions that he has to make.

CAC better know what he is doing, because 2 years is not what I was thinking...

That's it.

I think in a way it will almost be a more brave decision to retain Miller on the list in 2008 than trade him. If we get rid of him now for pick 27 for example, then we're through with him and we've hopefully got something decent in return. If we keep him however, one more poor year in 2008 and he's worth absolutely nothing to us or any other team in trade week. On the other hand, if he can develop into a reliable key backman then we'll have done well retaining him. I'm leaning towards keeping him to see what Bailey can get out of him. If he was a midfielder, I'd have given him the chop already.

thats the other side of the coin ..just what exactly is he ( any good at playing ) ??

the two parts of the:

what is he good at ?

what is his worth ?

the first....well seriously ; f**k knows !!!

the second...he's worth some interst right now as a trade

id be cutting my losses ( or lack of gains) and Bail-ing !!

i think your view on miller is to personal.... he has played some good games

i am very happy too see him play on for melbourne.... he is a player that u dont want to see develop at anohter club... it is a gamble.. but its a decision i think we must stick with

There is nothing wrong with us, there is something wrong with you though.

TJ would personally like to thank each one of his fans for continually putting forward this argument in his defence.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
