I do agree with most of what you have written there Jaded. However, we all hear that Judd is not motivated by money, so therefore Carlton and Collingwood don't move up the pecking order there.

If he is choosing a club from a list perspective or because he wants to play at the G, then why not meet with the Hawks?

The only thing i will say about the sentimental attacment, is that i presume he would have barracked for the Dees up to being drafted to WA by the Eagles. His family i am presuming still does. He does what few players before him have done before him and decides to come back to VIC and can essentially choose his club. It is conceivably possible through these circumstances that an attachment is still there. Why we he meet with us and not some other VIC clubs?

i think we all know why he isnt meeting with the hawks...

I would think that some rep working the phones on GF night ain't going to know sh*t.

Also, are they the only ones framing a market for Judd? If you can bet on it elsewhere it would be very unprofessional to tell someone over the phone what the result is.

It would also be very unprofessional to leave C'wood on the third line of betting when you have information which alleges player Judd favours that club. Sounds like cobblers to me.

Champ.

As far as I'm concerned, you have just stolen the Best Avator award from whoever ended up winning it.

EDIT: if that is Chris Judd's face that pops up..

Yeah 'tis. A good hours work there. Six cut and pastes, various duplication and a little miscellany. Doesn't sound like much.

The bookies play with our money not theirs.

If they know that Judd has chosen the filth, yet the weight of money favours another club, the filth's rank will remain where the money is.

Yeah cos they promised they'd draft him with pick number 1 in 2001, but shafted him for Hodge when he went in for surgery.

And yes, that is the real reason; not the other one that everyone seems to think it is.

Before somebody else posts this and makes a big deal out of it:

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/com...5E19742,00.html

This is pretty much, if not exactly, what he said when questioned by Dunstall as he presented the AFL MVP award on Friday. What the hell is wrong with these idiot journalists? Seriously, this is the best they can come up with on the Judd thing because they have no sources on it. So why, for the love of god, do they bother writing an article at all. This article is almost as meaningless as Jim Wilson's in yesterdays Sun. The decision has been made. I'm not saying it's Melbourne (though it sounds like we're a good show). But it's already been made, whatever Judd or anybody else says.

And to suggest that the bet alone was the source of the rumour is simply scurrilous. There were a stack of other things that 'came out' on Friday. The Herald Sun is truly a disgraceful publication at times.

The numpties over at Bigfooty are going to love this.

I just spoke to a sportsbet rep. He confirmed betting was suspended on the basis that Judd was announcing his preferred club tomorrow.

I asked him if he knew the club and he replied "apparently he's going to name Collingwood, but that doesn't mean he'll get there".

I momentarily felt ill. That said, he may not know. It just may be an educated guess. Let's hope so.

What are you promoting the filth instead of the dees......Deers won't be happy

He just called me for a good chat just then.

The function included Brian Taylor and all the of the MelbourneFC players, and again, BT was adamant that Judd was a Demon.

...

very interesting deers......your spreading rumours......i guess hypocracy isn't in your vocabulary

All the information points to Collingwood if you ask me. He wanted the best facilities, the best footy department and a chance of winning a flag, now as much as we dislike Collingwood, with Judd entered into the side which lost to the cats by 5 points.... things could have been very different.

out of any of al lthat I will only conced that for the moment Collingwod have beet facilities. Where were the wobblies last year ? we had injuries this year.

On paper it seems the Filth are better off, but we al lknow the danger of calling a game based upon 'paper'.

There are the intangibles. Whatever Bails said to him hit home, far more it seems than shiny apparatus or expensive lunches.

As they say it aint over til its over !!

not a pessimist but tend to agree, just have a feeling all the Judd to Demons hype just started from the bloke and his 25,000 bet and has absolutely no substance. I reckon NO-ONE knows anything except Judd and manager

Judd is not going to declare a club unless he is sure that club can get him in trade week. I don't believe he hasn't made a decission but he wont come out and say a club until the WCE are happy with what they will get from the club. He doesn't want to be a Nick Stevens, IMO I would think he wants to ensure the WCE get the right deal for him.

On BT don't forget he works with Danny Frawley if we have offered up his nephew to St Kilda he would know and may of passed on mail.

I think you've been spending too much time at bigfooty. Not saying he won't pick Collingwood, but to suggest that all this came on the back of that bet is absurd. There has been plenty outside of that. Whispers, Hutchie, and especially BT are all saying it, and you'd have to think that they have contacts who are providing them with good reason to believe Judd will come to us. They aren't going to throw their credibility away (especially Hutchie; all he has between himself and being a nobody is his uncanny ability to get it right) based on a whim that they got from some ambitious punter. There is too much smoke for there not to be a fire somewhere.

I reiterate that there is still every chance of Judd saying Collingwood, but something is happening somewhere which is quite positive for us.

it does beggar disbeleif that all of ..BT.. SEN 3aw..Hutchy etc etc..would stick their collective necks out on the basis of a mystery bet !!

Exactly. Too many big names are putting their heads on the block for this to come from a big bet. Also, don't forget that the bet was known about as early as Tuesday (might even have been Monday) by people on here. Does Damien Barrett reporting 3-day old news give rise to a 'wave of speculation'? I seriously doubt it.

thats a good point...the bet was actually quite early in teh week...just didnt surface for a day or two.. was days after that that all the "firmness' for Judd started to appear.. Seems to be based upon sommething entirely different.

All we need is Caro to ccome out and say he 'definitely not coming"..and it will be sealed !!! lol

I’m not sure what Hutchy has been saying but in his ‘Psst’ section of Today’s Age he mentions that the Saints will provide the Dees with pick 9 in exchange for a young gun…expected to be either James Frawley or Ricky Pettard.

He goes go as say that the Dees want a pick between pick 6 to 10 to add to pick 4 for the Eagles.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
