On sen huddo just broke it that he will be announced as essendon coach

Yes, I hope your right, I've been telling people how impressed I am of him having made my way over to his addresses down at Sandy.

wasnt hardwick announced as coach few days ago?

Yer I didn't think he'd been announced, but I thought he was more or less signed, sealed and delivered. Maybe that was how Essendon found out their leak... see who spilt the hardwick story

Just hope the Judd fiasco is the same and everything said in the media has no relevance to the outcome

Knights just confirmed as new Bombers coach.

just announced " MATHEW KNIGHTS : as coach for 3 years..

says they would be mad not to go for judd. if he makes call as ess preffered !!!!

who are the tossers who named mark thompson as ess. coach ????

never listen to their posts as it has been stated that ess. never really considered him that possible.!!!!

An interesting choice....

What is he, 36?

They're looking for another coach to go three decades

I like Knights, but it really begs the question why didn't they even interview Bailey if they were looking for younger options from slightly left-of-centre?

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the Bomber's profile in the next few years, with both Hird and Sheedy out of the immediate picture.

They sacked Sheedy 6 weeks early so they didn't miss the boat.

:lol::lol::lol:

I still find it puzzling how fans can bag a coach b4 a game's even played.

Anyway could some go to Rhino's place and check he hasn't croaked it.

I was thinking the exact same thing Jacey.....

On both points  !!!

when I saw this thread i thought it was Peter Knights.

(officially worst coach in history, for those younger folk)

at least peter knights won premiership of some sorts

havent heard about him for donkeys years

Its Great that Matthew Knights got the essendon Coaching job. 3 years at the helm of the Bendigo bombers and played in 2 finals and lost both.

That shouldn't be hard for Bailey to overcome that!!

The thing that swayed these imbeciles was that Knights painted a rosier picture of the future than Hardwick - BOMBER BOARD WANTS QUICK FIX.

This is like people picking their real estate agent to sell their house on the basis of whoever quotes the highest selling price. That might be OK in a strong and bouyant rising market but in tough times, you want the most realistic and honest approach. The Bombers might rue the day when they decided to ignore Hardwick in favour of Knights simply because he provided them with a rosier assessment. They're about to get crunched!

On sen the bomber supporters are bagging the choice of knights big time.

Wonder what ash 30 thinks?

I'm fine with the decision.

I heard Knights speak on 3AW last night and he sounded impressive.

I am a bit bemused at the hysteria over his appointment. Surely you have to give the guy a chance before you decide whether it is the terrible choice that alot of ill-informed people think it is.

He went through four 2-3 hour presentations before he was given the job. As did Hardwick, Sumich etc.

If people are naive enough to believe that the Essendon board hired Knights for any reason other than they believed he was the best man for the job, they are kidding themselves.

From what I can gather, he was football operations manager for a year at Port Adelaide in SANFL, then coached them for a season, has coached his own team at Bendigo for the last 3 seasons, sat in the box with Sheedy in 2006 and was involved with player development this season. Other than Sheedy, no person in Australia knows the Essendon list better.

I don't subscribe to the theory that you have to come from a Premiership winning club to be a successful coach. I can't remember Paul Roos having much success at Fitzroy, yet he was able to coach Sydney to a premiership.

Terry Wallace played in countless Grand Finals and premierships, and how is he going at the moment.

People can think what they want, but I will give Knights a chance to prove himself before I hang him like most have.

Matty Knights will surprise a lot of people next year - As will Bailey.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
