The single most important day since 1964

Old Man Rivers

Recommended Posts

As much as I have tried not to get caught up in the JUDD to the Demons hysteria, I woke up this morning solely focused on

how important todays meeting with the great man potentialy is.

This meeting is also a super early test for our new Football department

The nervous tension from this point forward until Judd announcces his preferred destination is going to be bordering

on unbearable.

Watching him wander around Optus Oval was painful, however once we see today's vision should eliminate those feeling's.

Judd is such a unique character & is so capable of the unexpected. Most people tipped he would stay @ The Eagles

Until he tells the footy world of his decision I guess I'll just contine to "Feel Sick"

Deep down I think he is going to shock the footy world with his announcement

Lets just pray we are that shock. ;)

I feel sick as a dog due to the fact he was walking around the large optus oval, getting show plans for new facilities. Theres the Lexus centre and today our guys are gonna chat to him at our facilities. My god, lets hope there is a strategic corridor to where they will sit down, this corridor having framed posters of Melbourne greats.

I feel as if I should be going home sick today.

I totally agree with some of the comments here. I tried not to get caught up - he is ONLY one player after all, and WCE has only won 1 premiership. But I think it would be a massive boost to our club, and to have a supporter and superstar and speed in the midfield would be perfect - the only issue is the price we would have to pay - financial and draft/players.

I was so excited with the prospect of Judd picking us and the chance that would give us to build our side and the profile of our brand, that I wrote Judd a letter! I have never done that before!!! I sent it to Paul Connors. Hope he reads it. I promised if Judd comes to us I would sponsor him - that was speaking from the heart and not the hip pocket, let me tell you!!!

Well surely they will meet him at the MCG, and hopefully that will impress him a bit, but don't take him to junction oval.....PLEASE!

Take him to the Junction Oval because it will continue to be our training base for a year or two (can't hide that fact) but by all means have the discussion/meeting at the 'G'. This is our major hook. Collingwood are blow ins. As nice a facility as the Lexus Centre is, the history is transplanted. The tingle CJ will get from walking into the 'G' should be a factor in this decision.

I must have taken some good sicky pills as Im not too worried.

Today finally Bailey , Connolly and who ever is aboard the welcome bus get to " do the business" ...

I must admit .., irrespective of Judd today , im quite excited about the possibilities that can come out of an enthusiastic and focussed footy dept.. Bailey outsold the master of selling...Sheeds !! Connolly impressed despite many of our mispgivings . The new Melbourne way of going about things seems to be.. Set a clear goal, egt the resources, assemble the right people and provide the professional infrastructure to move forward.. Lets be honest...when was the last time we ever had the idea that this IS the way of the MFC.. Its all been bouncing from pillar to post in the recent past. No more :)

Chris Judd is a man who knows his stuff. He has clear and defined personal goals together with it would seem a map to his future and those immediately in that journey. He is no doubt a man impressed by clarity of vision and the excitement of possibilities. That would be exactly how I describe the MFC at the moment. We arent there ( yet ). But we're at the starting line.. or indeed just left it now :)

Judd I doubt will be not overly impressed by simple riches alone.. god knows there's enough in Perth ( anyone who's visited Millionaires mil will attest ). Here's a man who has 'purpose' as his mantra. He seizes opportunites that fit with his purposes. All that is to wonder is exactly what that is. If the welcome wagon can envelope him in our flavour of purpose and outcomes then I seriously beleive we are as good a chance as anyone. If anything ours almost has a purity about it. "To resotre the pride and position of a once great club". Its not about the dollars so much with us..its pride. Judd obviously prides himslef on being his own man. I really dont think Tinsel town methods will win him over. it wil require convincing him of purpose. Thats precisely how Bailey won the job. Might be precisely how Bailey wins the man.

Today is good :)

Go Demons !!!

It was sickening to see him walk around OO on the Footy show last night, it'll be good to see footage of him meeting with MFC staff. Maybe this is just stupid, but Melbourne Victory's stuffing around with the new Bubble dome might have hurt us with convincing Judd. We should've had a state of the art facility in the making for 2008 at this stage, but because of all the hold ups it won't be ready till 2009. It may just be those little things that make or break.

But still, got to stay positive! C'mon Bails, Cuddles, and Gazza, bring the Juddernaut home!

PS. I'm a fan of MVFC, i think i'm just so nervous that i'm looking at every little crack!

Woke up this morning feeling sick?...You're lucky, I hardly slept!!! I was imagining whether the panel was lying awake as well.

I'm so happy we've got Bailey and Craig Cameron in the meeting today...they seem like two very capable people who I'm confident will be able to sell the footballing side of things. I'm a bit nervous about Gardner and Harris selling the off-field vision but hopefully they have a good story today and they can nail it.

I know some people are nervous about giving away too much to get Judd but I honestly think this is our chance to set us on the road to becoming a power house club again. Keeping early draft picks and taking the conservative route is what we've already been doing for many years and it hasn't delivered us a premiership...so it really can be seen as nothing more than a failure. Judd will put us back on the map, especially when coupled with Bails.

Go Dees!

Your lucky you only feel sick i got sick and because of my inability to get off the couch and NSW ever hated relationship with AFL has left me with absolutly no idea we are having a meeting with Judd today so i feel incredibly excited and [censored] at the same time which is just awesome.

That is exactly what I believe will get Chris Judd in the Red 'n Blue next year.... Restoring the pride and position of a once great club!!!

That is why I thought we would get Sheedy! And if Bailey hadn't been so amazing, I am sure Sheeds would've got the gig....

I believe the writing is on the wall.....

Demons 2008.....

Bailey in charge..... Judd, Jones and Juice ready to go into battle!

Oh yes! Next season shall be glorious!!

All hail King Bail

Sorry I havent read the whole thread

But does anyone know if we have access to the MCG today to give Juddy a tour?

A private moment between just Lyon and Judd standing in the centre circle of the G'... I reckon that would sway him

I've tried not to think about it... I knew I shouldn't have come here.

Thanks very much to all of you! <_<

P.S.- I predict this board will explode when Judd doesn't choose us. It'll be a year-long mourning session.

but imagine how insane it will be if he does choose us?

I had the strangest dream last night where he decided not to come to any team and he became a goal umpire...

FFS - I'M DREAMING OF THE MAN.

Join the club.

The night it was announced which 4 clubs he's going to, I had a dream that I got him drunk and made him sign a contract with Melbourne!

Actually, if all else fails... :D

As the MFC Admin is in the Grt Sthn Stand access to MCC usually not a problem. Only issue would be Hutchy and pack of other hyenas following!!

agree sooner Judd announces his preference the better for everyone. Hopefully MFC low key but professional approach together with whatever the special sub committee has come up with will sit well with Judd. You sence he does not like the hype that much and so hopefully Eddie will be too smarmy for him!

all the expectation is superciliousand, defeating the purpose ,as getting an expensive import is not always the be all end all.

remember " DIAMOND JIM TILLBROOK " anyone.

not to mention KELVIN TEMPLETON& PETER MOORE !!!where did the "TEAM finish ??

point 2; shane crawfords comment on the amount of $1.5 mill per.

what do you think the other 39 players are going to think and will they perform accordingly..

or just say to him on the field during a game "YOURE GETTING THE BIG BUCKS ,SO YOU GO GET IT" !

I agree with you mate. In the Sydney Dailey Telegraph, they were talking about yesterday's meeting Judd had with the blues. Hello that was yesterday, today he was meeting with the demons. Probably they will talk about it tomorrow

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
