B.Holland, M.Jamar, P.Johnson, R.Ferguson and M.Warnock - how lucky are these guys?

Does this mean that Daniel Hughes is going to be promoted? If so I'm surprised as I think Neaves has shown more and considering we now only have one genuine ruckman on our list we're now forced into a situation of either trading for a ruckman or using an early pick to secure a good one. The problem with that is that clubs will now know we're desperate to land one so they'll bargain hard against us and the last time we went for a specific type of player and not best available in the draft was a disaster in what ended up being the best draft ever.

Such is football, as already stated both Wardy and Godders can be incredibly proud of their achievements. I'll especially miss Franky... I doubt there's been too many blokes play 100 games for the MFC that had less talent and more heart than him.

Well, Paul Hopgood had less talent....

i think warnock and fergie are lucky, i thought one of them would go... and we were never going to delist jamar before we have secured another ruckman at least... PJ is never in danger

i don't agree at all, we won't appear desperate for a ruckman... there are clubs whose ruck stocks are in alot worse position than our own... carlton, collingwood, essendon, st. kilda with clarke's retirement... the reason it will be hard to land a good ruckman is because there are so many other clubs who are in need of them too...

i think our concern over our ruck situation is exaagerated around here, white is getting older, but he won't be retiring tomorrow, jamar and johnson are solid 2nd ruckman... we don't need to rush out and do something stupid...

and as on the drafting policy, we've already heard bailey say that you always take the best player, so i wouldn't be worried about that...

They've delisted who they perceive to have absolutely no trade value.

More will follow before the cut off.

Dean Bailey has already sent a clear message about the standards he will require at the club and that is that they are going to be a hell of a lot higher than in the past. It's tough on the players who have gone but he's acted swiftly and decisively.

We're on our way!

Good on you Godders and Wardy. Two hard nuts (well Godders at least. Wardy went softened a bit over the journey :o ). Well done on two servicable careers.

I'm a big Godders fan and am sad to see him go, but I understand that on skills alone there must a hundreds of youngsters running around that can do it better given a bit of game time. The same probably goes for Wardy too.

Neaves in an interesting one. Looked like he had the goods last season but couldn't step up this year.

To put DB's decision into perspective, I remember Godders being dropped to Sandy earlier this year. He couldn't get a kick for MFC but racked up plenty of leather and kicked multiple goals a game over a few weeks. This just illustrates the gulf between AFL and VFL.

If Neaves can't dominate in the VFL (like PJ and Jamar do) then he will never get a game in the AFL.

But the club may just want to hide him away so they can rookie him again and give him more time to develop, or perhaps CAC might know of some more likely types in this years draft pool.

I too don't think our ruck stocks are in too bad a shape. Jamar's and PJ's stats are acceptable given the ground time they get when compared to Jeff White's. They have both got development left in them. Let's hope DB has the midas touch.

GO DEES - Onward and Upward.......................and out Ward.

I wouldn't think these will be the only delistings. One of Ferg or Warnock would have to go. Is Warnock really contracted? Which idiot did that? He is close to the first person on the list that I would axe.

Keep in mind some are being kept as possible trade fodder

Bailey may keep some of the younger types like Warnock to see what he can turn them into

Remember, player development at the MFC in Danihers reign was the worst in the comp by a mile

Miller must be breathing sign of relief, Jamar as well

You would think these two will be in our trade offerings - we can only hope we can get something for them, otherwise strike them from the list anyhow.

I am very happy with these delistings. However, how many more players can we delist? As it stands we have dropped 6 senior players from the list. If we are to assume that Bode will be promoted permanently, then we have to use 5 picks in the drafts. That leaves us with picks 4, 21, 37, 53 and pick 3 in the pre-season draft. I can't see us delisting too many more players, as that will mean having to use picks very late in the draft.

Im very happy about this. Although I wasn't against giving Hayes another year to see if he has something but im ok with it.

Good to see Godders go. While he has been very serviceable. I have said for years, we cannot win a premiership with Godfrey in the team, said it about Godders, said about Nicho, towards the end about Ward. Can't have no skill in the AFL.

This sounds very exciting that we have already culled 5. With 3 retirements. thats 8 players!!! Hoping to say good bye to Jamar and Ferguson also. Hopefully Warnock too.

Im guessing they will try to trade Jamar where he may become a decent player.

more than six have gone.

five mentioned in this thread (Simon Godfrey, Daniel Ward, Heath Neville, Shane Neaves, Daniel Hayes), plus retirees, nathan brown, clint bizzell, and byron pickett.

thats 8 already...

Yes but how many more.

Heres hoping Jamar, Ferguson and Warnock aren't in Melbourne jumpers next year!

I think he meant 6 off the main list.

Interesting that Neaves has gone because, if Bode is elevated as expected, that may mean that Hughes stays on as the one allowed 3rd year rookie. Maybe Bailey likes something he has seen in him...

yeah i just realised that i counted rookies in my 8...thanks for that...

i would like to see one of ferguson, warnock and holland gone aswell, but would prefer ferguson or warnock gone...imo all are depth for the same position...perhaps ferguson will be retained as depth for the 'rivers' position...

Oh god I tell you if that 26yo stick figure is still there next year I'll do a terry wallace and spew up!

I can't stop thinking of that trade that could of been...

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
