PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond

Assuming Petty and Kozzie out (presume suspended for causing injury)

McDonald in and no clue who replaces Koz.

Leave Heath in so JVR can be forward, and leave Taylor in. He did good for first game, and played his role.

Footy police are trying to suspend Kozzie but let’s not hope that happens or we are in trouble.

X Taylor is unlucky to get dropped but he was only picked because we’re down 5 half back flankers.

His ball use, contest and ball winning weren’t ready to debut, and all things considered he fought really hard to make an impact. Some big tackles and he has the athleticism. But nothing wrong with sending him back to Casey to really earn a debut on form.

I don’t think Koz going out does anything to us next week. It would if he got more than one.

McDonald won't replace Petty Lindsay will and Henderson will replace Kossie if he is suspended.

Cross for Laurie,T.Mac for Petty. Kentfield in for Jefferson or Heath (unlkely) Henderson for Kozzie ( if suspended) . Like to have 3 changes as to get games into lesser known players.

Forget reserve scores.

OUT: Petty, Laurie, Heath

IN: TMac, Lindsay, Jiath

don't need the etra ruck against the tigs

Reg wasn't overawed at all and if we think he can handle the short break between games this week I'd be happy for him to play.

Rubbish selections.,, J.VR functions BETTER with EL jeffo riding shotgun, Lindsay was very good and Laurie had some moments. IF KOSSY gets xharged with that not only will I revolt. But will wear a tuttu down the road in a sequined red G banga😋

Forced changes only for the Tiges.

Obviously T Mc for Petty.

TMc will probably get a 2027 contract as well for depth at season end..

He was responding to my ins and outs.

Taylor will be a beauty for us and I'm more than happy for him to retain his spot. However it wouldn't surprise me to see Lindsay slot back into the backline after his week off along with McDonald for Petty.

As for cross or hendo, I was basing that move as a replacement for Heath who only saw 27% game time with Gawn also having his worst game of the year. Another small/medium half forward for extra run.

However Kingy post match said he liked how Heath enabled Jeffo, JvR and Mihocek to stay forward so perhaps he'll keep his spot.

Gave Jeffo praise in his presser as well just FYI.

Yep saw that?😁

Taylor was fantastic I thought.... This guy will [play 200 games for MFC another astute pick up by Taylor, Um regarding Taylor!

Taylor may well play 200 games. But he isn’t ready yet. He should serve time at Casey and learn the game plan, the pace of the game, and hone his skills. There is no need to rush him.

What are Richmond's forwards like? Do we need the tall stocks in defence?

I mean, yikes, their leading scorer is Sam Lalor.

Their other goal-kicking midfielders, Taranto, is expected to miss. Rhyan Mansell, medium forward, also 'TBC' with a foot injury.

Lynch is out for a couple more weeks.

Lefau, 195cm, kicked four against the Giants but is more noted for tackling, in so far as he lays as many tackles as he gets disposals.

Fawcett, 197cm, has kicked a couple of goals per game but also struggles for general impact and... what the jeebus hoistus happened against North? 1 disposal which was a turnover, and a free kick against, in 80% time on ground?

Significantly, neither of these forwards create any opportunities for others. They are end-of-chain only.

After that there is Steely Green and Seth Campbell at around 180cm and Jack Ross at 187cm, and you are pretty much done for Richmond's scoring avenues.

Turner and Lever as genuine tall defenders with Howes and Taylor providing 190cm+ support should be structurally appropriate. Richmond's reliance on medium forwards might also point to having Jai Culley spend time running back to provide over-sized cover for them while also being tall enough to interfere with the two Richmond talls.

Lindsay an appropriate in for extra run on a five-day break.

Tholstrup spending a day with Lalor whether mid or in our defensive 50 would be an interesting challenge, which I'd personally want to see played as a 'keep him honest but don't hesitate to counter-attack' rather than a strict tag.

All about percentage

we need a 80pt win

what could go wrong?

The 5-day break is going to dictate selection more than anything, I suspect.

Assuming Petty is concussed, TMac gets that spot. Not that there's anyone else though.

Gawn to me looked sick/injured, just didn't look to be moving fluently at all, and spent much longer periods on the bench than usual. I'd be surprised if he's rested but not surprised at all if we keep Heath in to manage Gawn's minutes on Friday.

Personally I forgot Laurie was in the side until he bobbed up for a disposal late. I'd give that spot back to Lindsay.

I'd keep Taylor and Jefferson in for another week.

I wouldn't bring in TMac, too slow now, might have a couple of games left in him later in the season (winter) but at the moment the game is so quick! Petty and Laurie out for Lindsay and CJ or AMW

We don’t have the midfield depth to lose anyone yet alone Koz.

But aside from that if he gets weeks it’s 2+ not 1.

Guess we will have to see mate.

Hopefully nothing comes of it. But he doesn’t have a great record.

This could be unpopular, but I could personally see Leb benefiting from 3 or so weeks in the 2s to find the form we know he's got in there.

Don't think he really deserves to be dropped, and it doesn't have to be this week. I'd rather see him playing mid in the 2s for a bit than getting thrown to half back in the 1s. Would give X his spot in the meantime.

Definitely a fan of keeping Taylor and Jeffo in the side at least for a proper run.

Nothing will come of it Mihocek knocked him out and that was an accident. Kossie has nothing to worry about.

Finally some sense. Lindsay in.Petty Out. T.Mac is finished.

T Mac played a full game today

Surely he doesn’t come im off a 5 day break. They only apply WD40 to his joints on day 4

We can so smaller against the Tiggies

Petty for Lindsay or whoever is ready

Is this a joke? Gawn spent more time on the bench because of Heath. T.Mac has been a warrior but he's cooked won't get a game again and if Petty wasn't concussed he'd be dropped woeful game again.

Can’t understand people calling for Jefferson to be dropped, the set shot was poor but he worked hard up the ground and took a couple of nice contested grabs, don’t think Taylor will be dropped either grew into the game and didn’t do anything wrong

Lindsay in for Petty

Any other changes may depend on the 5 day break

What is wrong with Rivers? He seems to be on the dreaded 426.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
