Has there ever been a more raw kid than this one playing AFL footy?

Love his defensive efforts in the forward line, he chases and tackles as well as anyone down there. He just needs to learn how to actually get the ball now.

One of his handballs was sneaky and got us the goal.

He worked hard to try and get into the game, unlike in his first match when the poor kid got stuck in no-mens land up forward.

But I agree that he is very VERY raw. He needs a lot of time to develop, possibly another full year at Sandringham. He also needs muscle, and lots of it!

I'd play him for atleast 4 of the remaining games to get him adjusted to it and Knowing what work he needs to do to step up next year.

not necessarily. he got a taste this week. it might be good for him to now drop back to sandy where he can work for 3-4 weeks, knowing the areas he needs to improve...if he improves bring him back against for another taste and so that he can see the improvement. there is not always good in having someone run around above their level, and it is sometimes just good to have a learning experience. that being said often another week or two could see him adjust to this level...

this only applies if there are fit replacements however...

At one point he treated Jason Roe like a witches hat and ran around passing nicely to Juice who couldn't quite mark. I like the way the boy moves. That sounded a little dodgy. You know what I mean . . .

I like the fact that he'll see enough footy this year to learn what's required of him in the future. Some players don't get ANY appreciation for AFL footy for YEARS. Even a 7 possession game is good news here I reckon.

I'm fairly sure that I read somewhere his DAd saying that he's only returned to footy in the last three years, and had previously been playing basketball. Does indicate that there should stilbe quite some development left. So hard to judge though - look at Miller.

im pretty sure he started football only last year got picked up by the devils and now us

Correct, last year was his first year back in to footy. He's probably got the most potential for development out of anyone on our list. He's a real wildcard; he could be absolutely anything.

Absolutely correct - last year was his first season of footy down in Tassie - started in under age and finished in teh seniors.

The pre-season just gone was his first pre-season ever!!! He will only get bigger and better with another pre-season under his belt.

When he initially joined the club his nickname was HUMPHREY (as in Humphrey the Bear) because he NEVER spoke. Not sure if the nickname is still used. Apparently he is the quietest recruit ever.

Good Luck Humphrey - hope you have a stellar career with the Dees

Play Judy, we have nothing to gain except the development of younger players. The season is gone, give players like juy a chance to play, and give players like neita a chance to recover.

We cant finish lower than the tigers, and if by chance we did, we pick u the best ruck prospect in a decade.

Garland did play football before last year, how do I know that you ask....

Because I played in the same side as him...

i saw col play against port melbourne and in other games for sandy. he is a very good reader of the play when played down back and id suggest he is very much in the jared rivers mould. this bloke will be a very very good player. not quite standout at vfl level yet but just does everything right. i remember rivers showing glimpses in his first year but it was his second year when he really stepped it up.

ill say garland will be ready to play regular footy next year, probably not to the same level as jared rivers rising star year, but not far behind. he ll takr bizzells spot in 08.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
