2026 Injury List

Featured Replies

Probably the better end of news on Luker.

Thought it might be 8-12 weeks, if he is a quick healer could be back in 5-6 weeks.

Any updates on Jai Culley's progress with the arm?

Hiring a coach from Geelong isn’t much good for people who want injury updates.

Get used to seeing a lot of TBC this year.

Will be funny if we get penalised for doing this before the Cats do.

Given last week’s list and recent updates. The current (guesstimate) injury list:-

Jake Bowey (foot)

Jack Viney (Achilles)

Kalani White (glandular fever)

Luker Kentfield (knee)

Tom Campbell (neck)

Jai Culley (arm)

Jack Henderson (back/sacrum)

Matthew Jefferson (foot)

Aidan Johnson (hamstring)

Shane McAdam (Achilles)

Brodie Mihocek (concussion)

Andy Moniz-Wakefield (knee)

Bayley Fritsch (hand)

Of the 44 listed, likely 13 could be unavailable for round 1. That’s nearly a quarter of the list without a ball kicked in meaningful AFL action.

I’m just curious, if someone puts their hand into a toaster that’s on, do you then blame the toaster in this scenario? 😂

Being an experienced hand put erinnertoaster, I can say after many years....no

That's fine. She can give whatever info she wants to. But she had a crack at me first for reacting to Sam Edmund's piece on SEN rather than taking her word as gospel, which I think is a bit rich from someone who doesn't have a perfect track record herself.

How foolish of me. I didn’t realise one poster has free reign to take potshots at other posters and the rest of us have to cop it on the chin.

Just one of those annoying ones the week before the season starts. No-one's fault.

Doesn't mean it's not annoying for us though..

Have you not read anything I’ve said in this thread? If you wanna believe Sam Edmunds, go right ahead, but maybe don’t bore everyone with comments like the above which are unnecessary and repetitive.

Facts:

The club doctor attended to him, washed out the two tiny puncture (not much bigger than a pinhead) marks and gave him antibiotics.

There was NEVER an infection

Hiya Ghosty, it was more than ‘two tiny punctures’ - he was bitten, had it cleaned up then it became infected. He attended a clinic, received several stitches and was put on an antibiotic IV drip. Your info sounds like it may have come from the period after the bite and before the infection. Agree that Edmunds has made it sound worse than it is though. I haven't followed this. What is the rationale for club's having to provide injury reports at all? Is it just for the gambling industry? If so, it would be about the only area where fairness is of any concern to the AFL.

Can't tell if this post is referring to dog v Fritsch or the back and forth between some posters on this thread.

There's certainly a fan communication aspect to it, it's nice to know roughly when guys will be back. AFL fantasy as well, Supercoach and the other leagues people play are a valid way to follow the game. And yes, gambling probably trumps all.

When the league takes so much money from gambling partners and players can be suspended or fined heavily for as little as telling their family that they'll be playing forward it does seem like the league should enforce some standards on injury reporting.

cop it sweet and leave my little sheet rack alone

It’s all good, W. I have to learn to cop it on the chin, too. The thick skin is taking its sweet time to grow, I’m a work in progress.

Thank you. I just repeated what Pauline Fritsch was telling me and since Fritta’s her son and they’re very close I tend to believe what she says. I don’t know who you spoke with but there’s one thing I know for sure… there were no stitches, the two puncture marks were indeed tiny, Pauline sees his hand and this is what she sees. The IV drip wasn’t entirely necessary but he was hooked up to one anyways.

When he lines up on March 15th for round one, things will be clearer.

On another note, I love the way Fritta has been going this pre season.

He seems more energized, fitter and is covering more ground.

His contribution is now greater than just kicking a goal or two, he is setting up play from further afield.

That is better for him and us.

I think he will be a more valuable player for us this year.

He's a really good field kick.

The new style of play suits him well. He’s formed a great rapport with Kingy and is relishing the change in methods, etc. That’s not a slight on Goody, they’re two entirely different coaches. Fritta is embracing the challenge of many changes at the one time. He says there’s harmony in the team, again.

They did. They had a full session out at Casey Fields. They’ll be training at Casey Fields again on Thursday.

This lack of training at Goschs I'm starting to take personally

And hopefully that will be reflected in their performances.

I know right?! 😅

Next Tuesday is an interesting one though: two flush runs in one day, with a break of one hour and 45 minutes in between.

I agree when he's kicking on his left. It's a thing of beauty. However, I can't recall ever seeing him kick on his right foot. Is he completely one-sided or does he have a decent right foot kick, too?

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
