PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 8th December 2025

Geez thatโ€™s horrible for Bowey given he had a career best year last year!

The injury is no joke. They say 6 months but Iโ€™d be giving him 12, rebuilding slowly and no risking reoccurrence at all.

It seems to be an injury that takes a couple of years to get back to your best from.

During preseason training in December 2021 Fritta sustained an injury to his foot caused by a teammate treading on it. He had to have surgery and to this day it amazes me the media never got hold of this happening (Do better, Tom Morris!๐Ÿ˜). The teammate was our beloved Pig.

I think I can forgive him.

That is a cruel injury indeed for Jake Bowey, the Lis Franc foot injury has ended a number of careers and seems to take a full year to overcome. Jack Trengrove was never the same after he sustained his. Good Luck Bowsa.๐Ÿฅฒ

Jake would be absolutely gutted. On Friday he seemed in good spirits despite being on crutches. At that point he didnโ€™t know the seriousness of his injury ๐Ÿ˜•

New 23

B: Lever, Petty, Jiath

HB: Salem, Turner, Lindsay

C: Culley, Steele, Langford

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, L.Pickett

F: Fritsch, Mihocek, Melksham

FOLL: Gawn, Rivers, K.Pickett

IC: Taylor, Windsor, Langdon, Tholstrup, Sparrow

EMERG: Howes, Laurie, Kentfield

A couple of injuries and some coming back from long term injuries and it practically picks itself. Heath is the only other probable.

Interesting to see Tholstrup in many starting 23โ€™s. Granted he missed the majority of preseason last year but would want to be showing a fair bit to make Round 1.

Would hope Sparrow is doing a whole lot more to be getting a guaranteed game each week as well.

On what I saw today Kolt would not be a walk up start, at one point and I am not certain it was him but he got rev up for not completing a task with required effort. Perhaps it is me but to me he doesn't seem to have part to his game that worries backmen. Play him fairly closely and his contribution is low.

I hope you pulled up ok.

Doubt I will get a game

Jake Bowey to miss 6 months after having surgery on his lisfranc. One of the worst foot injuries you can get outside the navicular.

We can forget him for 2026.

I doubt that the injury would be of the severity to have him placed on an inactive list which would open up a SPP spot. For that to occur it would have to be long term and virtually season ending.

I saw Bowsa at training on Friday in a moon boot and on crutches and if itโ€™s an ankle ligament requiring surgery, then it would appear to be not dissimilar to what one of my grandsons copped playing in a VAFA C Grade final in September (torn ligament/syndesmosis). Heโ€™s been off crutches for a while and out of his moon boot for a couple of weeks but probably wonโ€™t get the go ahead to start running until the end of the month. If Boweyโ€™s ready to start his own โ€œpreseasonโ€ on that basis (heโ€™s a professional athlete and his injury might not be as severe), he wonโ€™t be ready to start it until a few weeks into the season. Heโ€™s probably out 6 months which is bad but not enough to warrant an SSP replacement.

Well its been confirmed that he will be missing the first 12 games if the year.

They can easily place him on the inactive list from here on as it would be considered a long term injury especially if they want to be extra cautious and give him more time off or even the full 12 months.

Wakefield come on down, hopefully heโ€™s ready to go after missing last season himself

If Salo stays fit we should be alright, Iโ€™d rather see AMW in that Bowza role and Rob stays mid

Whatโ€™s the rule with players on the long term injury list who get replaced? Are they allowed to return if they recover early or do they have to sit out for the rest of the season?

If itโ€™s the latter, you would expect that a decision might be deferred until the midseason draft at the end of May.

But after training Kingy and Roo walked back to AAMI together and Kingy had his hand on Rooโ€™s back and was talking to him in a gentle tone.

I wish my Coach had have done that instead of taking me over the Middle Park Hotel and drinking six pots.

Lovely morning at the Paddock and nice to meet @Ghostwriter @old dee @beelzebub and a few others in person.

The team vibe was good and seemed a lot happier than the few times I was there last year.

Maysie was doing some resistance training by running with the big elastic band because he said he was a bit tight and sore after the other day.

I didn't stay long due to the short attention span of a junior demon with me, but quite a few of the players signed the sherrin and posed for a picture.

This is great! Itโ€™s from Fridayโ€™s session. And ima go ahead and claim credit for the soundtrack. I told Trent our videographer that itโ€™d be wonderful to not always have the generic electric guitar background music. I said (jokingly)โ€ฆ โ€œA classical piece would be nice.โ€ And here we are ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

haha I'm surprised (and thankful) you didn't suggest something from Sigur Rรณs!

That was Roo being admonished.

Kolt was among a sizeable number who struggled ( imo ) to split the sticks during that drill..... amazing really as I would have thought that was exactly the outcome desired..

Struck me some were more switched on than others. And and aside to being in the groove I'll suggest also being aware all those that watch and adjudicate are taking note... now !!

Loved to have been a fly on the wall when Kingy probably had a bit of an around the table debrief with assistants.

She did indeed! Her only disappointment was not getting getting to meet Big Maxy, but she cheered up when the cafe in Cremorne gave her 3 marshmallows with the babycino!

Nice to meet you guys there!

@Demonland Andy I can't upload any more pictures of the session. It usually says 800kb, but now I get an error message about 267kb?

I assume that amount the the amount you have left to upload.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
