Yes if the price is right.

Tend to agree. Probably wasn't on our radar

.. but there he is.

Universe can offer up interesting opportunities at times.

He's OOC too. Will cost basically nothing, I like the look of him, we'd be crazy not to.

This needs to happen. With May gone, Lever often in the wars, Rivers potentially being used more often in the midfield, Salem entering his 30s and Petty being…whatever Petty is, why would we not make this happen as part of the Clarry deal?

Wants out, or club no longer wants?

Because we're not allowed nice things.

I'm surprised we're not the ones stumping up a draft pick to GWS for taking the 'problem child' off our hands.

I think a combo of he wants to return home, wants a regular gig and wants money.

He asked for trade to Saints.

So he's been sold a pup.

Mr Aleer, gday... Melbourne Footy Club here. Care for a chat ......

Hope Tim has his phone number. I wonder if Clarry told Leek that " I will be playing with you next year"

Aleer (24yo) career game averages: 9.7 disposals, 3.7 marks, 1.8 tackles

May career: 16.1, 5.4, 1.4

May at 24yo (6 seasons): 12.9, 4.5, 1.7

I wish to comment.

Whenever you're good 😉 🤣

Tim Lamb said this morning the reason we passed on Derksen was we felt our tall talent was developing well.

it’ll be interesting if we go after Leek now.

Finally get rid of the mole only to add a leek

I know the Saints are supposed to be Bambi and we'e all supposed to be ready to celebrate their second premiership, but this stinks. I truly hope they have cruelled their credibility within the AFL for years to come. Four days ago Gubby Allen was saying we're just going to get this done and now they find they have bungled their numbers or whatever, and they cut Aleer loose having promised him the world.

What a bunch of donkeys. Long may their flounder. I mean, what have they really imported for all their spending? Silvagni is the definition of a banged up hack. TdK is a wannabe or a maybe, let's see. Keep spending you clowns. Meanwhile we might just pick up the kid you conned into looking to buy a house in Melbourne.

Ce wont be right now, as Saints were offering him way overs. Unfortunately for them it was GWS trade price that made this fall over

Because he's terrible one on one and with Disco, Lever and Petty we have that role covered not to mention we have Adams, May and McDonald as key backs.

St Kilda were reportedly offering 700k a year.

Let's not blow that cash. We need to bank some up and chase mid/flanker talent and/or a quality tall who really improves us when the time is right.

This is St Kilda admitting publicly that they can’t believe they’ve been able to hoodwink players into transferring to them.

Basically they got caught out because they didn’t think there’d be that many suckers in the market.

What player would believe them going forward?

It's no different to what we've done with Wade Derksen. we've been chasing him for 2 years only to pull out last minute.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
