They?

One family member with major cognitive disability and two with minor at the local sporting club. I suspect that when I had to admonish one of the latter, he came and kicked in the bottom of my front door. No CCTV ☚ī¸

Harry Oliver, please. One Oliver in, another out.

Hasn't Lindsay been earmarked to take on the HBF role? Salem?

And even though Rivers wins his fair share of midfield possessions, in my view, he's better suited off a HBF where he can use his dash & daring (and hit up targets?🤞)

But someone here (might have been DS) mentioned that some teams are going with 3 rebounders out of defence these days

So yeah, Harry Oliver, picked at #19 in last year's draft, might fit the bill, AF (plus pick 34, thank you)

If you were born in 64? and only became a supporter in 72 who the hell were you supporting before that?

No one, all I remember is mum taking us to Coles when I was in grade 1 or 2 with my bros and we picked footy jumpers, I still have it..

There are multiple types of ADHD - some that head more in the impulsivity, hyperactivity, restless direction and some that lean more into the executive function defects, distractibility and inattentiveness.

And you can have 2 people with the same kind of adhd and one of them may be a ickhead and one of them may not be an ickhead.

People are much more complex than the labels associated with them.

Best Melbourne player I've seen. Sad that it is ending like this but understand why the club might want to go down a different path.

However, the approach of the club has me stumped. Why did we push out a narrative that we'd pay 700k per year of his wages (we hate you so much we're willing to pay you a significant salary to go away???). Why not let him know he may be spending time in the VFL and let him explore options. I feel pretty confident he'd have agreed to a pay cut somewhere else to have the opportunity to keep playing high level footy. We might have had to chip in a bit (which is still a ludicrous notion to me) but it also would have given us some leverage to ask for something back in exchange.

The only saving grace is that we have nobody else to pay next year. Can we clear 2 million of his wages next year or does it need to be fully spread out?

Maybe you should go and become the Clayton Oliver fan that you were born to be rather than supporting the club.

Well well well... It takes individual "Brilliance" to build a team to win a Premiership! a lot of bit players to doing there part, BUT without Clayton Olivers Brilliance in that year and in the G.F YOU WOULD BE STILL BE BEMOANING A LOST CHANCE! Yep a Clayton Fan since, forever and happy to be born with the fruit!

geez you're a melt, honestly your reaction just about rivals his,

not sure how many times you've found yourself the centre of an entire countries media for 9 years running, critiquing your every move, clearly its taken its toll on the poor guy, u have to feel for the human element of it, end of the day hes just a bloke who wants to play footy and he's cocked up once or twice and being ran through the absolute wringer for the umpteenth time.

i hope he lands at the giants and has another 5-6-7 solid years, get him in with hoges he'll look after him. the redemption could even be better than the original

Just Victoria, not the country. Here in Brissy no one knows Clarry. GWS will do him good.

As an aside, arguably the best current NHL player has overnight taken a massive salary cut to give the Oilers some cap space in the next few seasons. He’s taking a cool $12.5 million per year but he could be getting up to $19 million. Doing his part to get them a Stanley cup. Wish there was more of that at the Dees.

Stephen King owes Clayton nothing.

He would have done his homework on Clayton, surely spoken to people & made it clear what he wanted Clayton's role to be.

Proof or get out of here you non-indoctrinated into being a dees supporter from birth, person.

(I was always told I AM a dees supporter and I still remember the first time another kid at school said ‘I’m changing teams’ and I was like ‘what the [censored] do you mean change teams?’, haha)

Yep and spelt it out PERFECTLY ...... VFL AT CASEY.. GGF KING

It’s sad it’s ended this way.

Olivers past behaviour seems to have been accepted by the club and u behave with what u can get away with.

Maybe just maybe if he was pulled into line a long time ago things would be different now but we will never know.

Sounds like a Principal of a school in a Bygone era!

He wasn't worth the money he was on. Sadly he went backwards & his kicking was terrible.

I mean lets go back to that stkilda game where he couldn't even nail a behind.

No that's just regular 'Ol due diligence and expecting professionalism and maturity.

Which 5% of players have!

After I had to witness Messi leave FC Barcelona nothing surprises me anymore.

Professional sports are a business first and foremost, love the club.

Essentially like a free agency deal - at $1 million x 5 years the compensation pick would be a first round. I'd take that and run.

I think there is going to be a lot more negotiation around how much the MFC pay of his wage than there is about the trade return.

Him ending up at Collingwood is another trigger for me to not renew my membership, unless we get something substantial in return that is overs, which isn't happening.

This off-season, Trac for 2 first rounders, and/or Oliver to the Pies are the two triggers that would see me skip football for at least 2026.

We absolutely should not be dealing a 4 time B&F winner to [censored] Collingwood.

I know some people might think it's petty and just silly rivalry talk, but your club has to bloody stand for something.

He CANNOT end up there.

I’ll m 61 and have been a member since 98 and supporter since 72, when will this footy club ever get this right, Its either off field issues with presidents, CEOs coaches or players, one ray of sunshine with great young list and yet we found a way to stuff it, like a broken record!

4 years ago we got it right

We have the chance to rebound with good kids and Riv/Koz etc

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
