Thanks for reaching out to me about this @Norm Smith's Curse. It's added a lot of value and you're really taking it to the next level man.

You've done this before...haven't you 😉

I'll rest my case on this point...m go re-watch the last qtr of the st Kilda game. How you miss scoring from that position beggars belief

I remember that error well. I think that one and the one against Collingwood in the last stick in our minds and were no doubt bad and costly errors but they are probably harshly criticed relative to the countless turnovers by other players this year purely because of the state of the game at the time. The same supporters saying how bad Oliver’s disposal is want Rivers and Sparrow to be given more time in the middle which makes no sense.

btw I never mentioned anything about Oliver’s disposal or decision making in my original post here. It’s not his strong suit (by foot anyway) but he’s far from our worst.

For those of us that dont want him gone, lets just hope that none of the deals are very appealing to us.

I really dont see how any of them would be.

I love Clayton Oliver as much as anyone, but the obvious and appealing part to the deal is getting over half of his absurd salary off our books.

What we get back in return almost pales into insignificance - we won't be contending in the near future with or without him. We have been hamstrung in the free agency, other contract negotiations, and trade period talks for far too long by these monster contracts offered (rightly) to trac and clarry. With diminishing returns and out of contention we need to clear house and get back on track.

We want him gone and are paying half his wage, this doesn't get walked back. He's 100% goneski. Pour a drink and crack out the highlights.

Again I will ask, who from the club said we'd be prepared to pay half his salary? It keeps getting stated on here, but has the Club actually said this?

As far as I understand it’s come from the media I think it was Sam on SEN not the club though.

so it could be BS - and yet its talked about as fact on here. Haha Typical DL.

Well Tim Lamb isnt going to come out so early on the trade period and confirm how much we will play.

In fact, he was asked that particular question and refused to answer which says to me that if traded we will indeed pay some portion of his salary.

Google says Yes 😀 ( fact not bs )

Of course the club won't go on public record and say they will pay for obvious reasons, but they will. Otherwise they are coughing up a first round pick to go with Oliver like GC did with Jack Bowes.

On top of the fact that we are in the midst of one of the worst cycles of leaking information this club has been through. The proof that the media has the inside lane is irrefutable.

Yep.. up to half his $$$ Club via Sam

Club hasn't walked it back.

Any and all can take what they will from that.

So we would trade Clayton Oliver for Miochek so we retain pick 39 as compensation for Spargo...what is the benefit of that?

What if they throw in Cox as a delisted free agent

Gees did you watch 2025? There were numerous times when Kozzi was the best for us in the middle, speed, break away, disposal, linking up .
Yes I did and where did he do more damage on the ground as a mid or a forward

Yes, and where does Kossie do the most damage, as a forward or a midfielder? While he has the pace, he doesn't have the endurance. He is an impact player. Yes, he can sometimes play in midfield, but he's not a full-time midfielder you take away a 40+ goal a year player to play in short bursts.

If we could clone Kozzie we would have one in the midfield and one forward

Why stop at one?

B: Picket, Pickett, Picket

HB: Kosi, Kosi, Kosi

C: Picket, Pickett, Picket

HF: Kosi, Kosi, Kosi

For: Picket, Pickett, Picket

Foll: Kosi, Kosi, Kosi

Int: Danny Soew, Graham Honeybell, Chris Woodman, Barry Denny, Paul O'Brien

Emg: Robert Flower

He won't be leaving Melbourne if we are only offered pick 38 or thereabouts. Hopefully we are not that STUPID.

Um you are Kidding.. King wants Clayton GONE, why else low ball his gravitas trying to change him into something he can NEVER become. He is a ball hunter and Collingwood know this, Would complement Faicos Brilliantly! Collingwoood KNOW they can pick him up cheap and with an Ageing Pendlebury and Sidebottom makes a must get pick up! I'm expecting this to happen!

I take from that that the club is wisely avoiding commenting of anything which would affect any negotiations.

Yep spot in with your pints

I guess my point was that as supporters we over value players, in my mind he's not the worst but he's not 1.4 mil worth either.

I guess that's the issue the club are trying to solve

I hate the idea of losing Clarry.

But is there some poetic justice if Clarry ends up playing like a champion for Collingwood while Trac hides out in GC playing in front of miniature crowds?

An Age article just released stated that Clazz was pretty unlikely to join the Pies, for whatever that's worth

Clever really ... Schroedinger 's stance neither confirm/deny but its 'out there'

🎪🤡🎪 week ( and a bit )

I think in many ways the clubs are in cahoots with media... kinda. Everyone knows they're being used lol.

In the end...its all.....

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
