Don't shoot the messenger. Just got an update but this info was from yesterday.

  1. We are still pushing hard for Humphrey. Expect any deal for picks if we don't get Humphrey (STILL HIGHLY UNLIKELY) to be done in dying minutes of trade period for this reason.

  2. As I said yesterday. GWS is low on cash given they couldn't get Leek Alir off their books. Trade is going to be awful on our end unless we can squeeze higher pick given amount of his contract we are paying for.

1 I can't see anything changing but good that we will run it to the line just to make team Petracca sweat as many bullets as possible
2 Alir is off their books. He is out of contract. They don't need to recontract them.

Hi Mo.

Bailey has definitely told the dees and GC they he would be open to a trade to the dees. This has fallen on deaf ears and from what I am being told BH has almost given up on the idea now unless there is a significant change of heart from GC. His manager has his hands tied due to GC position. Melbourne are now looking at what else they can throw in to make it happen but are also mindful that they dont want next years first pick to be swallowed up in gaining BH. The way I see it, its the only way this gets done now.

Craig cameron is number enemy number 1 and he has shot this down in a ball of flames. I dont know what it will require to change his stance, even the suggestion of throwing additional picks is just a guess from the dees at this stage.

Pray my fellow MFC supporters that between now and 7.30pm tonight something drastic happens.

Appreciate all your updates mate. I've been here a while and you've always been someone with good info.

Shame it's looking highly unlikely now. Hopefully we will continue to push for him in the future even if we do face greater competition from the other vic clubs.

Thanks mate. Im disappointed in the decision also. Everyone in the Industry knows he wants to come to us, the question is does GC relent on their position? who knows now! We havent stopped the conversation about him and I am assuming we wont until the deadline. Stranger things have happened so I havent lost complete hope.

He is either with us or GC next year. No other options.

Time for Head Turner Tim to publicly say, Humphries or Trac stays. Call me when you are ready to talk and then walk away.

Make them bow, or don’t. But don’t settle for shizen which we totally look like doing.

Need to walk away then they clearly don’t want petracca, if lamb caves on this he needs to quit

Thats the problem. They are clearing the books for next year and need Oliver and Trac to go.

We have lost all leverage. We could have framed it differently to put us in a position whereby we had more leverage but this hasnt happened. We hedged our bets on Bailey thinking it was going to get done, but the position of GC has put a halt to this.

Sorry if this has been asked already but if Bailey is desperate to get back home to Victoria why hasn’t he requested a trade?

How disappointing. Sounds like we've thrown a fair bit at this over a long period of time.

Thanks for the updates.

My read on these situation is they only make these things public once the either know or are fairly confident that the trade can get done. The assumption in this case if the rumours that have been posted here are true is that he has requested a trade privately to GC. GC have continually said no.

Lambs fault we are in this position signing them both to rediculous deals either way he probably shouldn’t have a job

Lamb needs to grow a set of nuts and remove Trac from any discussions with those clowns at the Suns

We are already bending over to GWS for Clarry

Really wish we as the club had taken this stance both publicly and in the negotiations. We had the best leverage tool in holding Trac unless GC caved in with BH. (Maybe GC aren’t even that desperate for Trac given they’re so resolute in keeping BH)

We’ve obviously told Trac to clear out his locker and he’s not coming back under any circumstances.

How could we have framed it differently to put us into a position where we had leverage?

My point being that if we don't get him next year, he'll be up for grabs next year. It's not like he's publicly come out and said "I want to be a Demon", which would make it embarrassing for him to choose another club next year.

Feels like another public humiliation incoming for this club - please prove me wrong and show some spine for once

2 of them.

Any chance Melbourne go after DeGoey if we don't get BH?

Makes me sick thinking that we will just roll over after all the strong language...bit of a defining moment coming up for Kingy and the whole "fresh" MFC I reckon. Don't [censored] it up fellas!

paging @Demon Forever for One last Hail Mary

Im hearing its all in the hand of his player manager and GC. It appears BH has given up hope based on their stance. The only wavering point to this is if there is a late change of mind now

His manager's comments did nothing to suggest that we were BH's club of choice. He made it clear that BH wanted to return home and thought it may be made possible on the back of the Flanders and Ainsworth trades.

We had the currency this year, which is why we are linked. There has been no commitment or determination from BH to come to us, like we've seen with Trac, Merrett and Curnow.

No doubt that other clubs will jump the queue for BH next year.

He may not have made it public, but he definitely said he would come to us as he saw it as a great opportunity with the deal for trac. The issue was and still is GCs want to NOT trade him. I feel that the only way it happens now is if something else is thrown in to force GC to look at it

he has, not publicly though. Doesnt need to be publicly announced for a request to come through

They really need to hire a consultant who can assist during trade week. We had all leverage at the start of the week and then ol champ Trac had to go ahead and nominate. We should have been clear right from the start was that if he chooses to nominate and we lose our position, we will not be trading him. But the whole situation with Trac has been untennable for over 12 months and everyone in the industry knew this no thanks to Trac himself.

I hope everyone can truly see him for what he really is. Whilst he maybe the consummate pro, he is toxic around our club and he has really tarnished his legacy at Melbourne. I'm less forgiving than most and would be more than happy to tear up his life membership.

Getting picks in a weak draft will cap off a humiliating Trade Period for the Demons. I feel physically sick. If we weren't already the laughing stock of the AFL we certainly are now. FFS getting pushed around by the AFL's nepo baby.

fair points. Bailey also needs to protect himself
