Thatโ€™s rubbish, you will still get 2 awesome players at 7 and 8. The draft at the top end is still very good m, it just dries up earlier

There are no guarantees they will be awesome players, in fact the likelihood is at least one of them struggles to become a solid best 22 and the other is nothing more than a role player.

I have a distinctly different recollection about Petracca's 'handling' of the situation last year. Whilst he didn't officially request a trade - most likely on the advice of his player manager. What he did do was:

  1. He threatened legal action against the MFC around his treatment during Queen's birthday. Basically, initiated an AFLPA investigation of the incident - which was curiously'dropped' / disbanded once a level of reconciliation / agreement had been reached.

  2. Separated from his management.

  3. Didn't attend the Best & Fairest, instead opting to travel to the Red Bull Fitness camp.

  4. Was Leak City Central with all the information that was coming out on the club during trade period about himself and others.

What have we heard about Merrett in the last few weeks? Or even Curnow? Yes there have been mumblings, but i think people forget the amount of scrutiny the entire club was under last trade period. It wasnt just about Trac, but it seemed that every hour something was getting leaked. it was an all out media ambush - that just doesn't happen on its own.

Source on him threatening legal action against the club?

Seperating from his management came the following year. Also who cares if he seperates from his management? It's a totally private arrangement for him and has nothing to do with us.

Was given permission to go to a training camp to try and regain his fitness after a horrific injury. Personally I have no issue with that.

Both sides were leaking and trying to control the story. Neither Petracca nor the club came out of that situation looking good. Just ugly airing of dirty laundry that would never happen at a well-run club. Where do you think the 'Brand' commentary originated from?

You've got to be joking re: Merrett. Essendon literally trotted out his teammates to bag him publicly and were leaking stories about him being disrespectful to the AFLW team. Then a story about the players getting ****ty with the CEO comes out during trade period that Merrett would have been acutely aware of. Come on now.

Clearly Bailey is being held hostage by GC.

Only one person can negotiate his release.

He meant trash for the suns as in they arenโ€™t needed for Suns to acquire their talent. Theyโ€™d be wasted.

If Trac didnโ€™t choose GC then GC would be trading both picks 100%.

If Trac chose Adelaide then we would be getting pick 14 and 16. Who cares if GC are going to use them, we are getting 2 top 10 picks

There is no guarantees that Trac gets back to his best

I wish GC didn't know how much we needed Trac out

We have no hope to call their bluff

G'day Suns recruitment team - a PSA.

The post above is what's called in the trading biz as a false flag.

Classic disinformation.

The dees are actually desperate to keep Christian.

And if we cannot attract or maintain elite/established/leadership level players, then too many draft picks with too much pressure to perform and room to just develop can send us down the Bombers/North route.

Iโ€™ve mentioned it before, but since 21, who have we traded that is still with us that has made our team stronger?

I would love nothing more than to be wrong but I really don't see us digging in on Trac for another year.

What are they imploding about? It looks like they'll keep Humphrey and get Petracca..

His managers comments.

General consensus is heโ€™s a brat and should be traded now if heโ€™s going to pull the pin next year anyhow.

Exactly the reaction his manager is wanting.

But also. amazing that the 3 gold coast Suns supporters could create such a fuss.

Again..

He didnโ€™t say โ€œthe picks are trashโ€.

he said โ€œthe picks are trash FOR SUNSโ€.

Heโ€™s a brat and needs to be traded now to the Dees

I have underestimated you, you sunburnt drunk beautiful Suns fans

We swap our brat for their brat

Heโ€™s clearly a cultural problem and needs to be traded to us for a future third round pick (with the Suns paying half his salary)

I heard Bailey Humphrey refuses to help old ladies cross the road. Honestly having him on the list is destroying the Suns reputation in the community. he's a PR nightmare

Along with that, he wasnโ€™t ever gonna be at the B&F.anyways. By his own account he didnโ€™t want the night to be the โ€œChristian Petracca Showโ€ and letโ€™s face it, thatโ€™s exactly what it wouldโ€™ve been.

Iโ€™ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we wonโ€™t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything youโ€™d like to ask or say below and weโ€™ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourneโ€™s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time atย Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
