It reminds me a little bit of when Luke Jackson left us, we'd won a flag, then finished top 4 but couldn't go back to back, no reason to think we wouldn't go again.

but then Jackson wanted to move home, which i suspect is the same with Bailey Humphrey. I just can't see a world where the Suns trade him.

If i were them i'd rather Bailey Humphrey than Christian Petracca.

I would too and based on this season, I think he'd be more impactful in big games than Petracca.

I can't see it happening either though, not this year anyway.

That being the case why would they trade him?

Million dollar question. Unless he makes it clear he's desperate to leave and they're worried about the late rubbish picks they might get off a team like the Hawks in the future they wouldn't.

Been told Humphrey had a call with manager and advised he wants out. Its a lot more real than its ever been. Gold coast playing hardball but this will now happen. Whether its us is another question. Not privy to conversations he has had with other teams. I do know that our conversations were very strong and it gave him plenty to think about. As I have mentioned before, another meeting has been organised, this time a lot less obvious than the Tan.

Oh and MFC are interested in Jake Rogers, but this will be treated separately.

DF this is fantastic info, thank you for your service!

Just my thoughts. If we bring in Bailey and Mihocek, are we a better team with those 2 inclusions whilst losing Petracca, Oliver and Judd?

Didnt mention Spargo as he hasnt really played a lot over the past 2 years.

Not in 2026, for mine

I am not sure it matters what other clubs are offering Humphrey when we are the only club offering Trac in return

For next year, no. For the long term (assuming Mihocek is successful in tutoring JVR and Jeffo), absolutely.

"Very Jaded" now? haha you are suffering. This club of our has a lot to answer for. As supporters, can we sue them for our MH issues?

there's movement in the station

Dees need to push very hard now. They need to love bomb Bailey and his manager. Make a very attractive offer. 6 years on top dollar

@Demon Forever coming through with the goods again

Desperately hoping that he nominates us or at least requests a general trade back to Vic, as I still believe we’d be best placed to trade with GC

Lamb better be booking a reservation at an Italian restaurant for tonight!

I'd be giving him the money that Petracca was on, which would be in excess of 1 mill per season....

If Bailey wants to leave this year, unless the hawks pivot on Merrett, it would have to be to us. We have Trac, we can offer flexible pick swaps for the next few years. Get it done Lamby and you redeem yourself.

Also, if he has requested a trade, it could be like the Cerra situation a few years ago

Wanted to come to us but we had no assets and couldn’t get the deal done while Carlton could, and for Cerra it was more important to get back to Vic then play hardball over going to his preferred club

true, but the interest in Curnow is still real. Gold coast weighing up cheap JUH or Curnow that is proven but older

I think you will find the pies are the natural threat, rumours of DeGoey being shopped around makes me believe in this. No source, just my thoughts.

Lol imagine if we ended up with DeGoey

Gross

wouldnt let go of trac at his age for a deGoey at his age and so unreliable with onfield and body

I don’t think we are necessarily better in terms of ladder position but it should enable Stephen King’s transformation to run a lot more smoothly.

It’s a big win if it happens and Roger’s would be an incredible cherry on top

One thing in our favour is the Bombers are holding out on Merrett which means the Hawks won’t really be able to resolve Merrett until late in the period.

Harder to play hard for Bailey if they still have Merrett in their sights.

What I fear though is Hawks prioritise BH over Merrett and then we’re competing against a cashed-up flag-contending club for his services.

I'd say we would be about the same tbh. Judd had a so-so year (can do better), Oliver still trying to regain "it", Trac the largest loss.
Factor in the young brigade being a year older, an improvement up forward, and BH and i think we'd be the same (ish).
That being said if thats 14th its not great

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
