Why am I already worried we've drafted another party boy?

Let's not forget he's only 18 years old and is yet to enter the professional world.

That is a respectable list 👍

I opted to go to my local government school instead. Max Gawn and I share the same alma mater 😁

And you and Max have played about 250 AFL games between you, too.

Max is on 247 and I am on 0 ... but I am pretty sure I have been drunk at more games than Max! 😁

I am really liking what I have seen and heard about young Xavier Taylor so far, confident, skilled, toughish, BOG in the Coates League Grand Final, 192cm and has that footballer look.

Welcome to MFC Xavier Taylor so looking forward to seeing you slot into our backline in round 1 2026, great replacement for the Judd, only 1cm shorter than Mayzie to.

Helps when you buy them with scholarships around year 8-10 😜

Just messing around @Adam The God !

I completely agree. Bloody Caulfield.

Same with all the APS schools.

Club sponsored propaganda or reality? Fun read nonetheless

Essendon has back-to-back selections prior to Melbourne’s back-to-back selections. The Dees’ recruiters are hoping they don’t select Xavier Taylor, a tall defender from Eastern Ranges.

The Bombers use their picks to draft Sullivan Robey and Jacob Farrow.

The silence of relief hits the room as their best-case scenario is about to unfold.

Family WAS mad Richmond supporters, now Demons.

A proud East Ringwood family, one of the best junior and senior clubs in the land.

Plays with aggression, has some swagger, hates to lose, he posses a great leap with agility to play on talls and smalls

Will base his game on Weddle from Hawthorn.

He has worked hard on his kicking over the last few years.

Slots in Rd 1.

I think we have an absolute ripper here, love his swagger and his highlights look sensational.

His comment about best on and off the field is not surprising and not far from the truth according to a work colleague.

Am told he definitely enjoys himself off the field but has improved recently .

I'm sure the club would be well across this.

My thoughts exactly. 'Getting rinsed' at Crown and claims he was also BOG off the field after the U18 GF. Been at the club 5 minutes and already needs to pull his head in!

As long as he got rinsed responsivly who cares, he deserves a beer or two after winning a GF and being drafted

Gets close to self-incrimination on a couple of laws being broken if he was still under 18 at the time.

Wouldn't the best case scenario have been that Robey and Taylor fell through.

Maybe they’re referring to a “realistic” best case scenario 🤣

Yeah true, they're all pretty shocking these days.

Cal Twomey on the latest (and last) episode of "Gettable" for the year says Taylor the steal of the draft. "At pick 11 I think he's going to age very very well for Melbourne so he's a gun". So there's that.

Yeah twomey claimed him as the one he really liked in this draft. It is nice to hear that positivity. I lost a bit of it from his first interview after being drafted. But if he’s a bit of a Maynard/hibberd type I’m fairly certain I’ll like him also.

Reminds me of Robert "Bones" McGhie the Richmond '73&'74 Premiership player. Had tats when tats weren't popular. Tough as nails, agile and very skilled. Famous for having a smoke on the ground during the breaks. Like Crackers Keenan and many others in that era.

He looks the goods.

Really excited about this one. And 2026, in general.

Don't know why. Not sure if it's deluded, baseless optimism, or a survival mechanism necessary for some of us, but so much seems fresh for next year. Lots of kids out there who will be hungry. And some of our favourites still there to guide the next gen. I think we will be a bit of a surprise packet and annoying to play against. Because of guys like this.

Don’t stress folks, Maysie will take him under his wing.

As long as he doesn't join the reasonably long list of people punching Maysie in the head

Scotch College gave no sports scholarships in the 1960s, though Melb Grammar did. Are you sure ALL APS schools do now?

As long as he hasn't got Freddy Swift's legs

Thanking the draft gods that Essendon were dumb enough not to take him

Would love to have a pick after them each year to make sure we’re always getting a good player 😉

A lot of them call them general excellence these days as the APS stamped down on it for a while.
